I'm not super high on the idea of Smart coming here honestly, but I'm willing to take the risk on a young guy like him that has shown a good upside. Marshall... no thanks.

Just saying that Smart is not on my A list. He's a top b list candidate though IMO.

Out of curiosity, numerous people have posted in here that "Smart isn't on their A-list", which is completely fine.

I'm curious to know who IS on said person's "A-list" that's actually a viable candidate?

Are we being picky just to be picky, or is there a better alternative out there? Seems like a majority of you aren't happy with ANY direction we choose.

Sigh.

But then I remember, this is NC State.

^^^^^ I actually thought about that a few days back. What if IU decided to can Creen if they got word from Stevens that he'd take the job. Creen would be a much better higher than fucking Marshall.

i would love to have Stevens or Donovan, but didn't really consider them realistic candidates.

So back in 2006(?), I actually attended an NC State women's bball game against Clemson, which was happening a day or two before the men played Clemson. Oliver Purnell was there and sat behind the Clemson bench. This being a women's game, there were maybe 1,000 people there. Purnell was wearing this stupid looking orange leather jacket that looked like a Clemson 8-ball jacket. He also says "Tigers" funny. He likes to yell "LETS GO TYE-GURRRS" with a let of emphasis on the "URRR".

so as of now the people in the know (aka the people that don't know shit) say we are down to Smart and Greggggggggggg. wow, new low? as so many things in life it comes down to timing, looks like we blew our chances back 5 yrs ago.

maybe one of those coaches will do big things or something when they get here, but this doesn't make me want renew my season tickets. maybe if Smart wins the NC (if he does do we really have a shot at him, no)

Putting my money towards good football seats, least i can drink and have fun if we suck.

Smart is going to turn us down. We are getting Marshall. Just accept it and be happy with it. He has a better resume than any coach we have ever had. His players play hard and he wants this job, he will work as hard as anyone. Plus I think if he does well here, he would be here for a while. Take a deep breathe and realize Marshall is a solid second choice here people.

If I was Shaka and I was going to leave VCU, I would take the state job over the other vacancies.

If I was Shaka, I probably would stay at VCU, however. A guy who turned down harvard, yale, and brown to go to kenyon college might just stick around VCU longer.

i dunno, i've stopped worrying about this. we'll know within the next week, and whoever it is will be an upgrade, even if it's not an excitingsuperawesomefuntime hire.
