^^ it sort of is, but to me the UI is a lot better suited to be able to have conversations back and forth between a group of people (i.e. like having your own lil threads in which to discuss things instead of having to mess with the whole @ username business), kind of incorporates the good parts of twitter into a facebook style interface with gps to show everyone around you
