what's wrong with tights? (tights meaning something like what Joie posted except in gray or black instead of white)

here's the dress:

jacket:

I think I might have to try them on the see... The pictures next to each other look iffy

I'd go with

"nice black slacks with a cream colored cashmere sweater"

and add a red or green shoes/scarf

Yeah good point.

The cashmere sweater is very holiday-ish I just wanted to wear a dress and wanted an excuse to wear this dress again

I like the red/green scarf or shoe idea

Yea don't wear that dress in December.

Nothing wrong with tights. I wear tights all the time. I was responding to Wolfy's question about what to wear to a wedding in JANUARY. Tights with a cute dress.

black can work with gold or silver cardigan....

i wore a black one shoulder cocktail dress with a gold sash and it looked very appropriate for a winter wedding

Wear the black with some fun shoes/accessories!!!

You can add pashminas and whatnot to keep you warm. Accessories are the fun part when it's cold...I feel like I can always add one more lol

I need a new dress for the bf's family christmas gathering

I want something a little more conservative (i.e. no strapless, knee-length or longer) and I'd also like to have it fitted at the top and really loose and flowing at the bottom. Something similar to this but less revealing up top:

suggestions?

his mom told me "dress to impress" so I can take it pretty dressy

and I'm game for trying crazy tights Erica

^I've never tried a wrap dress because I'm so tall, usually the place to tie it is too high and it looks funny

OH SWEET!!!! I think you can rock it And with tights you can go a tish above the knee and it still be conservative!!!

BUT I was looking at JC Penny because I have a gift card to North Hills and I want some shoes and look what I saw hahaha. The description made me laugh lololol

It's always the season for denim in this figure-flattering belted shirtdress.

* notch collar
* button-front closure
* braided, self-tie belt included

Since I'm still on the jc penny site...this would be cute with some tights! And you're tall so it's even hotter

I'm 6' and my legs are pretty long, but my torso is really really long

if you remember the pic I posted of headshots of me and carson (it's still in my gallery but I don't want to post it and get in trouble haha), we're both sitting down, but I look about 3'' taller even though we're the same height

so yeah - that's why I wanted something with more of an empire cut

^^erica, if I wore that dress it would be like "HELLO AND WELCOME TO MY WIDE ASS BIRTHING HIPS"

i like that one too, the pink top with high waisted belt edit: ok guess not with the hip thing

can someone please advise if i can wear any of the dresses i posted above to a jan 6pm wedding? really trying to avoid buying new dress and all my wedding wear is for spring weddings

thanks lunak! are polka dots approps for a wedding? i love that dress haha

i have a really nice cream colored mid calf length dress with black dots but my boobs are too big for it... might fit now that i lost some weight though

i was kind of leaning toward the plain black one mostly bc i can wear a regular bra

I'm trying to look for styles that are conservative but aren't matronly

Wolfy the dots look a little summery to me. Like I said before, I'd personally go with the plain black one with the buckle or broach or whatever detail that is lol.

i love the green dress too but honestly my boobs are out of hand in it and prob not good for a wedding in which i plan to drink heavily. its best for like, standing around and not moving much

its also been 4 years since ive worn it so maybe i'll put it on and see how it goes around the house. but i also dont have the right shoes for that dress, ideas?

and can we have a thong discussion? i don't get thongs. i mean i do obviously. but are there people up in here that ONLY wear thongs? i have friends that do. i don't dislike them but i don't LOVE them either. i wear them when necessary. my hanky pankies are comfy but who wants to buy $$$ underwear? no one.

i just know people that wear them all the time and i dunno. given the choice i'd rather wear regular underwear (you know, if there weren't panty lines and what not)

Thongs are yuck. I wear bloomers or some other full coverage undergarment. I also try not to buy pants that would show off pantylines either.

I wear lace thongs from VS like it's my job. I swear by them. They sit comfortably and look great. I can't remember the last time I wore regular underwear. I'll have to look up the thongs I wear but I love them.

I have the biggest butt in this thread and I'm ok with thongs if they're cotton or another natural material. I like the lack of panty lines and I think they make my butt look good I also buy em a size larger than I buy normal panties so they don't fit the same way.

Gstrings, on the other hand, I HATE, but Victoria Secret Pink line thongs are FTW.

I don't think I could go pantiless while wearing jeans, that seems like it would rub the wrong way

NCSUWolfy, a 6 pm wedding is plenty formal, so the following is my pick. the wrap is too casual, and imho the polkadot is too summery.

yea i don't dislike thongs (obviously i wear them) just given the choice (if panty lines weren't an issue etc) i would wear lacy boy shorts all day long

however that isn't an option. i was hoping i could learn to love thongs as mucha s the thong lovers

but i also agree underwearless is the best

Lace boy shorts shouldn't be too bad about panty lines, but I guess thongs are better.

My favorite is when people try to squeeze into thongs that are too small and have thong bulge lines.

Joie, I think I saw the doily tights in target, Anne Taylor Loft, Banana Republic or Charlotte Russe...I think. I can't remember. I have been to those places recently.
