Every game is a tossup. Lewis did well this game, but Duke in cameron could easily get to him. We had critical wing turnovers this game, which is Duke's MO.

I just realized that Miami is having our season except, instead of losing close games, they're winning them. They almost lost to Maryland, Boston College, and us. Even the Virginia Tech game was close.

I've been so resilient, but I'm actually starting to get down. I hate this.

it'll balance out. they'll suck next year because larkin will be their only half decent player. also they had a team pretty similar to ours last season but we ended up in the NCAAs because we beat them (at home) then went on our late season run. they ended up in the NIT

They're undefeated in the ACC, and our four ACC losses have been by a total of 7 points. Are you saying that we get to be undefeated this time next season? When exactly does it balance out?

and like you said, theyre really not much better than us. wouldnt be surprised if we won the ACCT or went further than them in the tournament. they're not going to go undefeated in the league and the season doesnt end february 2

That post is his opinion. And I'd like to ask that as a question. Absolutely no reason for such continued suckage for the past 20 years. This is supposed to be a top 10 team yet we are just 5-4 in the ACC. This program still isn't ready. Something drastic needs to happen to change this program's direction. Maybe a recruit like Randle. Maybe Gott gets Coach K like powers. All the ACC losses this year are red flags, and a few are due to bad coaching. This could very well be the most talented class Gott will ever have at State.

Anyways, my point is this is NOT just another loss. Gott needs to step his game up or this maybe as good as it gets, especially with Pitt and Syracuse coming in.

damn I forgot about the syracuse/pitt/louisville additions coming. underachieving years like this where his poor coaching is propped up by sick talent arent going to cut it in the new big east where you'll have 8 good teams every year. that shit will get you by in a league where you really only have to worry about 2 other teams in any given year but now we're going to be dealing with a zone when outside of wood (graduating) we have 1 player who can make a 3 pointer, louisville who will shit all over us with their press and pitt who will replace maryland as the garbage ball team who will beat us in ugly games at their house

Our biggest problem is defensive rebounding which is pretty absurd considering we have one of the best rebounding players in the country. Its just that our other players can't simply put themselves in decent position. This happens all game but it gets magnified on final plays.

Today was the same as the final maryland and wake plays. We have a ton every game but CJ never cares about boxing out. All they have to do is drive and crash and tip. Its stupid. Gott is a bad coach for putting up with this shit.

I still think we're a much better team than last year. I really liked our defense yesterday.

Brown is better, Leslie is better (although his increase in turnovers recently is a little disheartening), Howell is better, Wood is Wood...and our freshmen are awesome. Purvis is dynamic, Warren gets buckets, and Lewis has now shown that he can run the team and give Brown a rest.

It sucks that we're 5-4 in the ACC right now...but I'm really not worried for some reason. As long as we're healthy come tourney time...I'll be feeling really good.

^ completely agree. after the initial pain from that tip in, I couldnt help but feel the same way about this team.

We are just 4 one possession losses away from still being a top 6 team. Of course we could/should have won those games, but that is more of a "program momentum" benefit that we cant expect just yet.

Seeing Lewis and Purvis finally step up to Warren's level means we might actually be an annual contenders in this league under Gott. Real success isnt living up to expectations this year, its being a contender for the next 3-5 years while he's here.

I am actually feeling better about our ACCT/NCAAT chances after the Miami loss. We can still grab the 2 seed in the ACCT. If CJL can actually motivate himself to play smarter, whole game basketball at some point -we're golden

the cj thing is not going to happen at this point. scouts told him last year to develop a long shot and drive creation abilities so he is obviously only here to isolate. its a huge problem to have him on the floor because at this level, every close game is going to end with us giving tip ins when other teams crash the boards.

Come on, as a seasoned NCAA basketball fan, you have to know coming into it that the regular season isn't all that important on the grand scheme of things. The conference and NCAA tourneys are where you start a legacy. Sure it is statistically important to have a high seed, but anything can happen. So chill out, do we really care if we win the regular season? Who's is gonna give a hoot in two years.

Plus, these guys are worth having friends over to watch games with you.
