Yes, the Cubs won the series. But they're still 12 games out. Oh yeah, and they're not even in 2nd place either. It was a great series, and the Cubs played well. There is no denying that. I'll give the Cubs props for sure, but you aquaca are a total dumbass for trying to talk shit when your team can barely stay above .500. 7/25/2005 4:38:14 AM |

Sousapickle All American 3027 Posts user info edit post |
yeah, kinda weird for Ray King (1/3 IP) to get the win, but that's the way it is. At least Carp's ERA didn't go up, and he added 10 Ks.
edit: just did a quick calculation - his ERA actually went down by 0.0004 (2.2591 to 2.2587)

Does anyone know the status of our injuries? It seems like Rolen and Walker live on the DL. It shocked me to find out Walker was our highest payed player. Is he gonna contribute at all this year, or just be a big payroll burden? And when is Molina coming back? And Reggie Sanders? I am so tired of playing with scrubs on our team. 8/8/2005 7:30:01 PM |
Sousapickle All American 3027 Posts user info edit post |
I think the order will be Molina, Sanders, Walker, Rolen (there's some talk that Rolen might be done for the season).
Not that I like the Cardinals playing with second stringers, but a lot of these guys have come up big for us. John Rodriguez, Abraham Nunez, So Taguchi have all stepped up like starters when they've been called. Although I will be extremely happy when Mike Mahoney goes back to the bench and Molina is back behind the plate. 8/8/2005 7:39:45 PM |

There was an article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch today, http://tinyurl.com/b37ja, Quote : | "Bob Carpenter works for the local electric company. Chris' mother, Penny, is controller for a local car dealership. There is no desire for an ostentatious lifestyle, only a commitment to one's roots.
"Chris appreciates what he's got, what he's achieved and what people have done for him. Toronto tried to kick his butt out. He would've stayed there and been fine but that didn't happen," said the elder Carpenter. "The Cardinals came up with a very good deal at the time. He couldn't pitch but they stayed with him. Chris sincerely appreciated it. It's not fake. So when it comes time to make a decision (on an extension), here you go. That's the way we are."" |

thats a great article
Quote : | "Carpenter acknowledged then and now that he left money on the table. And it doesn't matter.
"I don't care what anybody else makes or what people think I should have signed for," Carpenter said. "This is where I want to play ... with these guys. This organization stayed with me when they didn't have to. Sure, I could have waited and maybe gone someplace different for more money. But what does that get you? How many guys have done that, then become miserable? I know Walt and Tony, the owners and the guys in that clubhouse. It's about winning and playing the game together. To me, that's worth a lot." " |
