Coming up next is the anti-U.S. game
Mexico versus Iran.
With Portugal also in this group, what team do U.S. fans cheer for: Angola? 6/11/2006 10:22:10 AM |

^ Agreed. And Eriksson was supposedly happy with their performance. They're going to the quarters at best and that's it.
Quote : | "I didn't get to watch much of the England game (sleeping), but saw the other 2. Those 2 were great. I usually don't openly cheer for anyone besides my own team, but damn I was wanting T&T to win that game. For them, tying Sweden was almost as good as winning the cup. The Ivory Coast Vs Argentina game was good as well. Can't wait for tomorrow, as we find out if Iran bombs anyone." |
It's okay to cheer for Trinidad & Tobago and Costa Rica. They're from the USA's home region of CONCACAF, so it's kinda like going for fellow teams in your conference. You can cheer for Mexico if you want...

Mexican media and some fans are eating crow. (He's Brazilian-born and a naturalized Mexican. Some of the more "Mexican Republican" types only want Mexican-born players.)

it's a beautiful game... I love it... it really is the best sport in the world...
Did y'all catch the Sanchez tribute right at the end? His father died of a heart attack on Wednesday. All the Mexcio club teams pitched in to get him a flight back to Mexico for the funeral. He played well today... he was crying at the end of the game with all his teammates around him...

even though sweden/T&T was a 0-0 draw, i thought it was a great game. it was back and forth and sweden just couldnt put it away. T&T got the red card 30 seconds into the 2nd half and they almost one...hit the cross bar a couple times...but that was just a good offensively played game but nobody could finish. 6/11/2006 1:54:52 PM |

^^ reminds me of the champions cup final... Barca v. Arsenal. Arsenal gets the red in the 24th minute (goalie)... Henry scores in the 35th to make it 1 - 0 Arsenal. But Barcelona was too much in the 2nd half and ended up taking home the cup 2 - 1 6/11/2006 1:59:07 PM |

I never heard of that but it is complete crap. The World Cup is supposed to be about sportsmanship and leaving politics out of things. On the topic of sportsmanship though, I heard the commentator on the Iran/Mexico game say that the Iranian team presented Sanchez with a bouquet of flowers in respect to the loss of his father. I love this game.6/11/2006 2:41:51 PM |
