did you watch little miss sunshine? i thought carrell did a good job in that. not oscar-worthy or anything -- but certainly far better than anything i've seen gervais do. 1/5/2007 10:44:46 PM |
aimorris All American 15213 Posts user info edit post |
look, i'm not arguing gervais is a better actor and i think steve carrell is great, i enjoy his roles in movies
and i haven't seen little miss sunshine but as for the others, they're not exactly in-depth character roles that he does alot with, which is cool with me because what he's doin is working 1/5/2007 10:47:02 PM |

i don't know why you people need to analyze (or what makes you qualified to analyze, for that matter), the depth of character roles and shit.

I dunno if Dwight will be back just yet, I can see NBC going for a couple of gags with Dwight looking for jobs elsewhere.

i liked the ep - showed everyone in their prime showed how michael saw his employees - he was very resistant to negatives and fault-finding loved the jim and dwight car scene with dwight hitting his head and then the scene where jim slapped him loved the sales calls-- loved the look gave phyllis when she realized why they got their hair styled like this thought dwight was going to blow the sales call but it was a genius strategy really started hating andy during that sales call - i would have fired him right after that call if i was michael loved the look ryan gave stanley when he started his crossword like OMG SAVE ME but stanley wasn't even looking
angela looked surprisingly nicer in this episode - before she was hideous i thought dwight would out their relationship but he didn't i thought michael would have a heart at the end and say no stay but he didn't

I missed the first season, so this may have been covered before, but I also liked how it showed how he got where he is, and what he's like in the field. The only similar situation that I can think of was when he locked up the Staples deal, but it didn't actually show how it happened. I think that it also hammered in the idea that he's not just a bumbling idiot, but just a guy out of his element trying to be everyone's friend.

It was "Hawkman".
They were talking about superheroes. 1/12/2007 8:35:04 PM |
LittleZZ Veteran 442 Posts user info edit post |
The Super Friends was a cartoon back in the 70s, and a precurser to the more recent "Justice League". They were a group of super heros (Superman, Aquaman, Batman etc) that teamed up to fight the Legion of Doom. Hawkman was one of the Super Friends. Andy described the office to be like the Super Friends, except for Dwight, who, according to Andy, had no special powers except for being tardy. Michael responded by just saying one of the character's names. This was why Andy was getting frustrated, because Michael was not being worn down by his negative talk about Dwight.
