Fans just want somebody to blame. Shit happens when you coach 18-23 year olds. I just think it's crazy that the players get the credit and the coaches get ALL of the blame. The biggest problem with this game has been turnovers and penalties, not the play calling. Take away the turnovers and we win with this game plan. 10/21/2006 3:06:42 PM |

next year, i want the team's slogan to be FALSE HOPE. the players can wear t-shirts that say it under their uniforms, to remember their short term AND long term goals. 10/21/2006 3:07:05 PM |

Well, to be fair, Wake has done everything you can ask of a team and is a legit team. But UMd is not. They have played close games against some real shitty ass teams. The only good games they've played all year is GT and today. Hell, even today they weren't great but they caught us on a god awful day.
I don't think UMd is even a decent team this year.10/21/2006 3:08:21 PM |

Because the clock starts on the "ready for play" signal this year.

They start the clock even if the ball goes Out of Bounds? That's stupid. It should be the same rules as a live play. Clock starts if it's in bounds, stops of it's oob...
V yeah I know that, I mean on change of possession.. I didn't know how much time was left since I have it on gamecast and it said 15 still..

Praises to our defense, they played well considering most of the second half, Maryland started on OUR end of the field. But there's no playmakers that will force turnovers on our team. That's the only thing we need more, forcing fumbles and interceptions.
Offense sucks. It still hasn't recovered from Rivers graduating. No Oline, no playmaking ability from our QBs. Not to mention our OC sucks at playcalling. He's too scared to fail so he goes conservative and gets us in trouble on early downs. Everything is predictable, defenses know what we're doing on first second and third downs.
The team is still committing stupid penalties and stop the turnovers. We basically have to play a perfect game to win these days. It shouldn't be that way. We need to force things, take more risks and pretend we're playing FSU every game. 10/21/2006 3:28:17 PM |

Was at the Maryland game (free tickets on the 35-yd line, woohoo!). Some thoughts to pass on.
-We had good travelling support. Although they were pretty quiet. -Maybe 5000 or so away from being a sellout. Around 50000 or so was stated attendance. (It was their homecoming too. Since when did we get made the Homecoming game?) -My ticket was in the middle of old season ticket holders. Some of them were complete assholes. Had a 70-yr old guy that I think wanted to fight me when there was an unnecessary roughness penalty on Maryland when (I think) Blackmon got hit after he was out of bounds. -First half was a complete abomination. Me and the person I was with didn't even realize Stone came in in the first half until we realized the number was different. Sadly, that was our best drive in the first half, and we only got to the 40. -Only bright spot of the first half was our defense. Maryland got deep late and we held them to two field goals. -Talked to some (nice) Maryland fans sitting in front of me at halftime. They're kinda getting tired of Friedgen, although not enough to call for firing him or tow banners across the top of the stadium. Pretty much after the Orange Bowl he got a fat big contract and hasn't done much of anything since. They're not expecting the rest of the year to be good. -Commercials for TV have gotten noticeably worse from watching (not been to a game yet this year). -The turnovers at the start of the second half just killed us. We were down 20-0 and we're not the Chicago Bears by any means. Maryland for the rest of the game to me just seemed to shut down. I guess one can call it a "prevent offense". -Thing that irritated me was we kept running the ball. I know you have to keep the offense balanced, but there seemed to be no initiative on our end to stop the clock when there was plenty of it left. I think any team with the ball down in the 4th quarter now in college football needs to do that. -After his point-blank interception in the early part of the 3rd where I have no idea who he saw, Evans got better. But he still made some passes that were far off their target and would have been intercepted by a better cornerback. -Other than the fumble, our running game was good. -After Blackmon's punt return for a touchdown, I yelled "Arizona Cardinals" out loud. -I left right before the Maryland field goal that made it 26-13 cause my reason for going to Maryland was not the game but something else, and I had to be at that place at 5, but our score early was nice. Good job keeping the three timeouts for late but not enough time I guess. Been nice if we at least had a chance to go for the block, but I was thinking they would just run back and take a safety even then.
