I've put up a couple of variants on my file share, we used to play them in halo 1 back in the Bowen Hall days

Phantoms and Ghosts

Both are low shields and health with fast speed and everybody camo on, played with only assault rifle and pistol availiable and no pickups so you have to salvage from the corpses or melee your way around, Phantoms is classic style CTF, have to have the flag to score, Ghosts is Team slayer.

look me up on the bungie site to download them or send me a friend invite if you want me to send them. Also I'd like to grab some gametypes you guys have.

I went to the local Target earlier and bought 1 of 2 remaining copies .

Been playing campaign on Heroic since I don't have internet to my box yet (adaptor should be arriving soon >_>, this one part in the third level was hard as hell. Where you're driving the wart hog and come across this encampment where there's a lot of cement cylinders and a hill leading up to a shitty base, with enemy ships flying in and dropping off LOADS of troops and eventually a tank...was pretty awesome when I finished it though. Didn't help that I started off with a nearly empty covy sniper and a nearly empty brute shot.

I'll definitely have to try out Halo Pirates, sounds awesome.

I cannot kill these two hunters you fight on the level after the portal.

And it's not like they are killing me either, I just run out of ammo before I can kill them, and have to reload.

I shoot at the red on their back, but it's either not hitting or not effective.

Single player it's fine. But playing with more than 1 person on your screen results in a reduction in the screen size...at least on mine it does (and someone else agreed earlier in the thread)

I was using the sniper rifle.

I eventually killed them, but it felt like the auto aim was making my bullets miss slightly, when the cross hairs were right on the orange.

goddamn this game is good. I had to literally pry myself away from the game after playing since 5pm straight for nearly 6 hours.

I played coop for a coupe levels with 2 others on xlive. AWESOME. It kept track of your score to compare at the end so it felt like a comptetion, but yet was still co-op. And that can be toggled, love it.

Mutiplayer set sessions /ranked - matchmaking? AWESOME.

Custom games / Forge? AWESOME.

What a great game so far.

gotta give credit though, xbox live didnt break - it definitely bent....but stayed kicking!!! And I swear man, i have like 50 friends online at the same time, all playing halo, and the world map was all lit up on the matchmaking screen. Shit is hectic.

so I came home from a 16 hour day at work/school yesterday to find my roommate had bought a 360, Halo 3, Madden 08, and Tiger 08.

That being said, what we've played of Halo3 has been amazing Only done multiplayer though, I'm going to start working on the campaign tonight.

They made melee's NASTY. I always used the "boxer" setting(switches the buttons for grenades and melee) but DAMN. 1 BR and a melee will kill someone. Like an easier BxR.

they have already addressed this, thats the way it is playing on an hdtv....it was like that in the beta, each persons' screen is 16:9 sizing, otherwise to fill the blacks on the side theyd have the stretch the picture and it'd be out of proportion.

on halo 2 if you were playing on hd, it would split the screen down the middle (which is horrible)

^ I'm sorry but that is totally weak. Why in the world would you not be able to use all of your wide screen tv. Most other co-op games allow you to choose how your screen splits (you could in Halo 2).

Other than that the game is pretty darn fun. Singleplayer plays exactly like Halo 2. Lots of multiplayer options though.

I guess I just don't understand why people don't play co-op over xbox live so you get a full screen and not have to worry about the smurf boxes anyway? I can't stand split screen in any implementation unless my ass is up in the TV's face.

Maybe I'm the only one with not a lot of halo friends that locally get together and game, so I'm in a minority. Actually likely...

We used to do split screen all the time when I had roomates, I hated it.

Now that I have my own place it is quite nice to have all 56 inches to myself


BTW: Halo Baseball is awesome. Gravity hammer + Rocket Launcher = well mostly death, but occasionally a good hit

I dont think its too complicated to be used consistently at all, but it's too complicated to expect to just jump in and create something great right away. I found it difficult but I was starting to get the hang of it, there's a ton of crap you can modify if you are creative. Leave that up to the talented mod makers, community enthusiasts, opportunists, and all that to do the hard work. Then just play their stuff.

Bungie has a well implemented community site with map, game varients that will eventually be created, populated, highlighted and stuff. And you can go to the site and download this custom stuff to your 360 from the internet from your PC (which is awesome).

I'm loving the campaign so far...played split screen with a pal yesterday and never had nay shrinkage problems.

Torching the shit out of the Flood is awesome...and those little Covenant blade pistols are fun as shit!

I scored a double kill last night in the sand map. A warthog had just jumped one of those pyramid buildings-- first swing knocked them out of the warthog, second swing killed them.

It seems to be the best way to deal with vehicles.
