Haha before at the start of this episode I told my gf to watch out for Tony to turn bad soon. This is her first season watching 24 and she was very surprised when it actually happened.

^^^ triple, I think.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that he's been working for hodges this entire time

But that makes absolutely no sense. Why would he blow up the rockets? I don't see any logical explanation for how the chain of events of the last few hours would have unraveled in this way if Tony was still bad. I think they found that they were wrapping the story up 6 hours too early and had to come up with some final bullshit.

It's sad too, because I thought the first 12 or so hours of the season were a return to form after a fairly disappointing last season, but now it seems more like a James Bond movie than 24.

Tony has been working the entire time for someone else. Probably David Palmer zombie style.

Perhaps the virus will cause Jack to gain super human powers and he will sprout wings and fly to intercept a missile carrying the bio weapon in the final hour.

Then there will be a lesbian scene with Renee and Kim.

i doubt tony was in cahoots with hodges, just someone else on the inside who could get him the bioweapon for whatever. he didn't need all those rockets, just the small canister (i'm guessing)

and does anyone really think that's the last we'll see of kim? i highly doubt it

tony has been playing deep cover for years now, he's got connections with all of those mercenary groups, he's probably just back to playing the part now (or has all along) to get to the real bottom of the whole thing

if the writers are really going metal gear solid on us, the big cog that has been controlling blackwate...i mean whatever they're called, is going to be some fucking La Li Lu Le Lo global conspiracy puppeteer organization or some shit

and personally I think they could make a pretty good show out of a splinter cell/metal gear solid style premise, MGS3 was damn near cinematic through and through, bond-esque intro music and all

Seems unlikely that Hodges and his lackey created a whole ruse to fool Tony into believing that the lackey was leading him to the weapons if Tony already worked for them.

Maybe he works for a competitor of Hodges', or maybe he wants the weapon as leverage to get him safe passage out of the country. They made a big deal of showing Jack asking for Tony's release, but Tony never got the word. He might just not want to go to prison/run for the rest of his life.

When Jonas said, "i'm just a cog in a big wheel" or whatever... It makes me think Tony is working for him...

But as someone said earlier, it just wouldn't make sense that Jonas and his henchman would fake all that stuff to lure Tony..etc...

What if the president's son really isn't dead and he is part of the plot...

Someone we have forgot about is going to come into play soon...just the way it works. I could see it being Jack's dad... President's daughter is a possible choice... or Daniels

alls i know is that if Tony was really trying to get to the bottom of anything for the good guys he wouldn't have killed Moss.

^ That's exactly what I was about to post.

The ONLY thing I can think of to argue otherwise is that he knew Moss was about to die anyway.

I'd be curious to think back through the entire season so far to see if everything Tony has done can be rationalized with this.

Are we sure that Moss is really dead? Maybe he's just unconscious . . .

I guess he could be undead like Tony. And come back to wreak havoc on Walker after she settles down with Jack.

For the record, I like Terrorist Tony.

And as soon as Walker and Moss thought everything was over with the bioweapons, they both said they had lots to talk about . . . and that's the 24 death sentence.

yeah, i'm with you. what a fucking cop-out.
I'm completely fine with unexpected twists and turns and double-agents, but their prior actions have to make at least a little sense. Like early in the season when we thought tony was bad, and turned out he was good - you could go back and watch what he did up to that point and it made sense.

Since that switch, though, there has been zero indication that he was somehow secretly working as a double-agent, and his actions fully, 100% supported his status as a good guy. So now we're supposed to believe this entire time all he was trying to do was to get one little canister out of the compound and has been working with a random truck driver the whole time?

i think they could have done a better job at Tony not exposing Moss's nostril for airflow

look back and he leaves some air room several times during the "suffocation"

actually, there have been small clues..
one clue was Tony going absent for quite a few episodes to "follow up with a source" and then showing up when Jack was sitting on the steps in washington..
another was during this episode.... when the villains were pumping the rocket fuel, that one guy said "i have to do another perimeter check"...he was in cahoots with tony and it allowed tony to ambush the other guy

moss has to be dead. there wasn't any reason to "pretend" to kill him, plus he was bleeding out anyway. then if moss lived, all he would do is implicate tony and that surely wouldn't be the point of letting him live. looks like we'll get jack vs. tony part deux

Jonas was like "thats impossible!" when he heard about the rockets being blown up. im wondering if he is like "wtf tony wtf dude"...i think tony may be connected but maybe he thinks their priority doesn't have to involve killing a lot of people

But remember faking Tony out was never Hodges idea in the first place, it was Hodges' assistant trying to be clever without Hodges knowing about it

And I had forgotten about Hodges muttering something to Tony when they first captured him

It will all make sense in the end, I hope anyway

You guys complain all the time about how predictable and formulaic this show is, and now when they finally do something is truly shocking and unexpected, you whine some more. There are still 6 more episodes to this season, give the writers a chance to make sense of all this.

I just remembered that this is 24... there is always a larger, more global conspiracy.

and there is always a double/quadruple agent on the inside that you never suspect....

that would be awesome. The move to DC has greatly helped this season. It was always such a stretch to have the heavy focus on LA and the west coast, where the President rarely goes.

^^ that struck me odd as well, no way Tony would be that careless, especially after knowing jack all these years.

watch him end up really being a quadruple agent.

1) working for emerson
2) working for bill buchannan
3) working for "the machine"/patriots/secret organization
4) really working for buchannan or some other good guys, trying to get "inside" the secret organization
