That's the exact same thing I was thinking.
Everything seemed rushed and thrown together... i guess a writer's strike could explain that.
^ If it really is a live-forever type of thing, how do they determine at what age they get stuck looking like?
I don't think we fully know Adam's powers.
Was momma-Petrelli's power though to implant memories? I somehow doubt Peter just magically remembered all that on his own.

his "jail" was probably just being in a killed state. they threw in an implication that peter and nathan both knew adam monroe as well.
the headline of the snow in florida instead of a tsunami probably implied that sylar has killed one of the original 12 to get the power to freeze things. previously unstated as to how he had gotten the power.
claude rains knew another empath at one point, however now they're implying that peter is the only one left alive in 2008. (or only one known to still be alive) 11/6/2007 7:45:36 AM |

Why would Adam/Kenzei have "control" over Parkman's dad to have him do his bidding? It seems that Parkmans dad could easily lock Adam in a coma like he did with Molly. Also, the symbols appearing on people are [obviously] the symbol from his sword... they still haven't said much as to how it keeps popping up all over the place (even in areas like the code that Mohinder's dad wrote to find people with powers) 11/6/2007 10:48:55 AM |

Perhaps Adam developed more powers over time kinda like Parkman, but to a higher degree since he's been alive for hundreds of years. If so that would imply that Claire would too.

It's obviously from the aliens that implanted the "defect" into the human DNA that would span all these powers. The symbol is their signature on the human DNA and will come into effect later in the series when the aliens make their appearance.11/6/2007 2:44:31 PM |

what draws me most is story believability. weak acting i can tolerate to some point. I think what sold me the first season was that the characters seemed to be fairly real; they were normal people with special abilities. So we saw them have to come to terms with that new reality. Also, we saw outright heroic and diabolical individuals, with plenty of folks who didn't have a view, which was probably the best aspect.
I think now, the writers have been sloppy in evolving the material. They're not standing by the character developments they made last season. Specifically, Noah Bennett, who underwent a reevaluation of his life/duty/family, has essentially been reset to the character he was before - kills a guy here or there, lies to his family, etc. Introduction of new characters are quarter-assed (if I may): flyboy and Louisiana tv girl. The whole story setup with her was bad, in particular the job management interview, where her interviewer said things no real person would say and her coworker/white girlfriend has the actual charisma of a tree stump, even though she's regarded as a warm individual. And flyboy, well, he's been discussed. Bring Zack back or something, please?
Aside from this, my interest in the show is primarily with the characters from last season. I think the main plot is still pretty good. 11/6/2007 2:53:35 PM |
grimx #maketwwgreatagain 32337 Posts user info edit post |
the next episode will probably make or break the season based on the backstory that they choose to include.
i'm not arguing on any acting, and the believability. Because I find it difficult to believe that the Bennetts can afford brand new cars when they're on the run and dad works for copy kingdom.
But the storyline (obvious twists aside and 'go into the future, see the problem, assess and return to solve') will need to be flushed out in the 4 months ago episode.
They're just following the formula that they followed from season 1.
P.S. Micah and Jumprope girl need to be dropped, as well as Niki - though it looks like that will happen soon.
They were the only ones who seem to be completely out of the main characters loop/arc. They showed up in the end of season 1. That should have been their entire screentime though. 11/6/2007 3:21:18 PM |

I really like the way it ended, but I'm tired of Peter not having his memories. They need more good plot rather than just slowing down their current plot. The only complaint I had about the first season was it started so slowly, and they don't need to return to that.
Also this is fun, you can get powers and gain other peoples powers by beating them in battle. http://apps.facebook.com/superheroesapp/
I should throw this in since my ability to embed ends in less than a week. Its the biggest x-men storyline in a long time, started last week, 2nd issue comes out tomorrow:

I disagree. He followed it up by saying that the headline could have just as easily been about a typhoon. The implication is that someone out there can influence the weather; surely if Sylar had that ability, he'd be doing more than freezing a guy here and there.
Quote : | "As a baby Claire survived a fire in the house." |
Not entirely accurate. She did not die in the fire, obviously, but as far as we know she wasn't in the house, or was unharmed for some other reason unrelated to her powers. At the time they found Claire, they didn't know if she had any abilities -- Bennett was to turn her over to the company "if" she manifested. From that we can assume that, wherever they found her, nothing was all that out of the ordinary about her survival.
Also, her first manifestation doesn't occur until six months before the start of the events in the first season, when she heals quite slowly (for her) from a wound inflicted by broken glass.
I'm going to side with dzags18 in his original suggestion that you effectively stop aging at whatever point your powers manifest. Munroe was unaware of any powers he had until about the time we first saw him, and he appears to be the same age now.
The other possibility I'd be willing to accept is that as the power gets more advanced you gain some degree of control over the extent of the rejuvenation process.
Quote : | "Why would Adam/Kenzei have "control" over Parkman's dad to have him do his bidding?" |
Think about it. Monroe has known Morrie Parkman and the others of his generation since they were quite young. He's been a very influential figure in their lives. Hell, they told us that Linderman was a Munroe disciple, and we all thought Linderman was the guy in charge of everything.
So it's not that Adam has control over Morrie Parkman, necessarily, but rather that he has a great deal of influence over him.
Quote : | "Specifically, Noah Bennett, who underwent a reevaluation of his life/duty/family, has essentially been reset to the character he was before - kills a guy here or there, lies to his family, etc." |
See, I think this process is actually kind of clever and has a lot of merit. It's tragic, in a way, to see him get good and then not know when to stop, to go too far. Remember that even before he started being concerned with his own death, he wanted those pictures to help him bring down the Company. That goal has essentially stayed the same, and he's still willing to do shady shit in order to accomplish it. As for falling back into the old habit of lying to his family, I think it speaks accurately about the nature of organizations and individuals for whom secrecy and lies have been a way of life -- it's a hard habit to break.11/8/2007 2:45:53 AM |

Quote : | "Heroes' Creator Apologizes to Fans Tim Kring admits mistakes were made at the beginning of season 2, but promises to get back on track
Jeff Jensen, an EW senior writer, has been despondent since the cancellation of ''Twin Peaks''
On the chilly Monday morning that Hollywood's writers went on strike, Heroes creator Tim Kring called from the streets outside the Hollywood studio where his NBC series is shot. ''Yes, I'm picketing my own show,'' says the 50-year-old writer-producer. ''So surreal.''
But Kring wasn't calling to discuss labor woes — he was calling to explain why Heroes, suffering a creative decline and a 15 percent ratings drop from the same period last year, went from Human Torch hot to Iceman cold. The good news? A turnaround appears to be under way. After weeks of sluggish storytelling, the Nov. 5 episode recaptured some of last season's fanciful energy. We've also seen the next two episodes — and we like them, too. The cliff-hangers are back. Narrative purpose has been discovered. Old favorites like Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) and Horn-Rimmed Glasses (Jack Coleman) take center stage. Even more encouraging: Kring himself is keenly aware that Heroes is broken. Here's his candid critique:
THE PACE IS TOO SLOW ''We assumed the audience wanted season 1 — a buildup of intrigue about these characters and the discovery of their powers. We taught [them] to expect a certain kind of storytelling. They wanted adrenaline. We made a mistake.''
THE WORLD-SAVING STAKES SHOULD HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED SOONER The premonition of nuclear apocalypse created a larger context that unified every story line last season. Kring now sees that Volume 2 (the first 11 episodes of season 2) would have been better served if Peter's vision of viral Armageddon had appeared in the season premiere rather than episode 7. ''We took too long to get to the big-picture story,'' he says.
THE ROOKIES DIDN'T GREET THEMSELVES PROPERLY New Heroes Monica (Dana Davis), Maya (Dania Ramirez), and Alejandro (Shalim Ortiz) ''shouldn't have been introduced in separate story lines that felt unattached to the show. The way we introduced Elle (Kristen Bell) — by weaving her in via Peter's story line — is a more logical way to bring new characters into the show.'' (That said, Kring says a few newbies won't make it beyond this second volume, which wraps Dec. 3.)
HIRO WAS IN JAPAN WAY TOO LONG Hiro's (Masi Oka) time-bending adventure in 17th-century Japan — where he mentored samurai hero Takezo Kensei (David Anders) — finally came to an end on Nov. 5. But Kring says it ''should have [lasted] three episodes. We didn't give the audience enough story to justify the time we allotted it.''
YOUNG LOVE STINKS Kring regrets sticking Claire (Hayden Panettiere) with a super-dud boyfriend and forcing Hiro to moon over a cutesy princess. ''I've seen more convincing romances on TV,'' he admits. ''In retrospect, I don't think romance is a natural fit for us.''
Yet while Heroes has finally found some dramatic traction, this second volume is pretty much a wash. The Dec. 3 episode has been retooled to function as a potential season finale — a move inspired by the writers' strike and a desire to give the show ''a clean slate'' when it goes back into production for Volume 3. At that point, Kring wants to craft a rebooted Heroes that can attract new fans and win back those who've tuned out: ''The message is that we've heard the complaints — and we're doing something about it.''" |

Disagree. They don't need to have a "world saving premonition" every season. That's the problem with heroes that can see into the future. Remember "Paycheck" with Ben Affleck? (yes it was horrible...not the point). What he saw was caused by them trying to prevent what they saw.
I honestly think that if they do this crap again next season, they need to end up causing what they were trying to avoid the whole time.

All i can say is THANK FUCKING GOD. NO ONE likes that stupid ass romance shit in this show.
Well, season 2 tested who the true fans were, so i'm hoping season three will pick up where season one storytelling left off.
The one thing that bothers me is that they STILL have not explained where all these powers are coming from. It's a little long for us to still not know where it started. Would you watch the Matrix if it didn't explain what the matrix was until 6 hours after the movie started? It would be frustrating.
Sure it's "genetic", and Suresh is working with a virus that targets that genetic code, but wasn't there SOMETHING about that eclipse in Japan, and the one that's been on the intro to the show since day one?
