i would think that the two of you would be the last people to assert that inclusion into a certain group and therefore with whom you associate necessarily paints a picture of your personal beliefs and positions. By this logic all TKEs would be rapists.

One would imagine the two of you could relate to someone being involved in a community where you have to prove yourself and some times go the extra mile to fit in. He was a mixed kid growing up in a racially tense time and was trying to be part of the civil rights movement. of course their were radicals there. there are radicals for all positions. when he says he chose his friends carefully he is basically saying i didn't want to hang out with rich white kids because if i did people may not take my interests and efforts on issues seriously. so he aligned himself with those whose loyalty wouldn't be questioned. Thats all. One can go to many places and find marxist literature handed out, it doesn't mean the place is marxist. that would be equally as unfair as me suggesting the guy wearing the "change" shirt and spouting of anti-muslim propaganda is a representative of everyone voting for mccain because he was doing it at a mccain rally.

A friend of mine who spent a summer in Switzerland told me that in reality they have mixed feelings about it, but are mostly pleased with it. Some of them pay up to 70% taxes but you can get free daycare and public transit and education are very good, on the downside while the medical care is free it is often slow and hard to access.

This is all besides the point though because Obama is not a socialist.
