I along with about 8 folks will be at the Spring Game...I think it will send a great signal to our players, coaches to send a BOLD statement this year and atleast get around 10,000...

I mean UNC got around 500...I want our numbers to knock them out of the water???

SO here's the question..CAN WE???

shit, didn't we break 10,000 last year? I remember it looking pretty full.

I think it was 14,500 or so last year. I can't remember if it was this year or last (probably both), but we had more people at our spring game than all of the other NC D-IA schools (WF, DU, UNC, & ECU) combined. Remember TOB citing it a couple of times to prove how our fans are the best in the state?

We had 18k or so one year, and 17,500 another back when Amato was here. It's not a stretch to say that we could come close to 20k during a spring with as much optimism as the fan base has going into this season. The last time we had this much optimism was probably the spring prior to Rivers' senior season, and back then spring games weren't as popular as they are now.

10K would be a disgrace. If we don't hit 20 I'll be upset, and we should be shooting for 25,000.

clemson drew 24,000 saturday for the orange & white game.

that would be a sweet # in carter finley, especially with Kay Yow donations

I bet we'll draw ~18k. 20k seems a bit much for us.

Just wanted to post this for page 11...

Quote :
"Scrimmage stats via PP. We either have an amazing passing game or a horrible secondary. I think more the former.

OFFENSE
PASSING
Russell Wilson (half a scrimmage; not injury-related): 9-of-11, 78 yards
Mike Glennon: 16-of-19, 143 yards, 1 touchdown

RUSHING
Toney Baker: 8 carries, 19 yards
James Washington: 8 carries, 15 yards

RECEIVING
Toney Baker: 6 catches, 68 yards
Jay Smith: 4 catches, 37 yards

KICKING
Josh Czajkowski: 3 FGs made (52, 43, 23)

DEFENSE
Audie Cole: 8 tackles, 1 sack for 9 yards
Nate Irving: 5 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss"

Although the rushing numbers weren't phenomenal, Baker's receiving yards and yards per catch are quite encouraging. I'm so frickin' stoked for football season. The spring game will be a nice fix, but it's going to make May-August crawl that much slower. I  Wolfpack Football.

this is what i don't understand...if you can get close to 60K for games, with people wanting to go of course who can't afford it, you'd imagine that number would be something like at least 100K people in driving distance who would want to go (im sure more), then why only get 20K for a weekend that's not even close to another holiday? And isn't admission only like... FREE (except for the 1$ donation)?

plus you market
schmoozing with the players and coaches
lucky fans getting to sit in the luxury boxes
tours of the football complex, weight rooms, all that stuff.

i'd get rides for kids over at the fairground and turn this into an NC State football weekend.

Bring back the former players, make them schmooze with the crowd. I'm tired of mediocre shit! anything less than 40K ought to be viewed as a marketing EPIC FAIL.

because it's a scrimmage

what more do you need

it'd be great if we could fill CF for a scrimmage but let's be real here - it ain't happening any time soon.

yeah the coach. this is off topic but I was over on the BC board looking around and it looks like people aren't buy season tickets for them this year. is there a place to see acc football attendance for each team? I'll keep looking around myself in the meantime.

Like this, but for last season.
http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/2007/Internet/attendance/IA_AVGATTENDANCE.pdf

changing the link to 2008 yields
http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/2008/Internet/attendance/IA_AVGATTENDANCE.pdf

It looks like it was never updated after the season was over

That's the attitude among fans im talking about; "just a scrimmage". It's our team. There's going to be alot of recruits there. Who would you wanna play for, fans that are serious about football or a bunch of pansy wine-and-cheese douche's?

All it would take is some marketing, a little bit of word of mouth, busing in people if you must...get that place rocking...make it a totally festive atmosphere.

Dang I hate that I'm going to miss this... I have been on the West Coast for a few days now and I was flipping through the tv channels with a friend from Texas when I saw NCSU versus Southern Miss (c. 1990ish) on tv. I think it was the bowl game when Brett Favre played against us...

Anyways, my friend was impressed although he went to UT Austin.

Quality proofreading there, Heather. I do like TOB's tone in this interview though ... just a quiet confidence about him that's awesome.

if this is the case, which certainly seems to be, I can honestly say that I am not intimidated by any stretch of the imagination.

Week 1 should be, and will be, a Wolfpack ass whooping of the gamecocks, hands down.

and after that Spurrier will still bitch about the ACC being weak. (not our fault your shitty school's academic standards can't match those of the ACC you butthole)

Wilson isn't missing any football practices is he? I thought he has to come to all of the practices since he's on a football scholarship and has only been held out in order to not push him too much in regards to his knee?
