oh, and since according to you retards teams winning and losing only comes down to the QB, the Colts won today, Chargers didnt. But of course in this case, losing wont only be due to the QB because it convenient to think otherwise.

Not really.
And that is now three games in which he has not come through in the end this year.
I mean...he had a damn good game statistically, but you HAVE to beat the Raiders/Chiefs/Seahawks if you have the ball at the end of the game with adequate time to score.
And how do you keep the Special Teams coach if you are San Diego?? WHAT. THE. FUCK. I know absolute dick about coaching Special Teams and I think I could do a better job than that guy. Did they get rid of the tuck rule this year? Seems like just a year or two ago the tuck rule was called often enough to make it very difficult for a QB to fumble.
I didn't see this game, but on a few occasions this year I've seen where the refs like to call fumble even on what was an obvious forward pass. 10/11/2010 8:30:31 AM |

Tuck Rule is completely different from what happened yesterday with Rivers.
The Tuck Rule is absolutely ridiculous, but inapplicable to a lot of fumbles you've probably been seeing this year.10/11/2010 8:38:56 AM |
jbtilley All American 12797 Posts user info edit post |
The fumbles that I was referring to were obvious forward passes. The ball came out 3/4 into the QB's passing motion, so yeah the tuck rule wouldn't need to be invoked. Just the regular forward pass rule. 10/11/2010 8:51:38 AM |

That shouldn't be a fumble then. Either they made a bad call, or you didn't see it/remember it correctly. Probably the latter (no offense).
Once the QB moves his arm forward with the ball in his hands, then it is considered a pass. So if it is knocked out at that moment, then it is an incomplete pass (think Jason Campbell's fumble/incomplete pass in the 1st half...originally ruled a fumble, then overturned because his arm was moving forward).
Rivers' "fumble" occurred right at the moment his arm was done moving backwards...but it hadn't started moving forward yet. It looked like it was moving forward because his arm kept going, but the ball has already been dislodged. It was a tough call...but the fumble occurred right before the forward throwing motion started.10/11/2010 9:00:21 AM |

Rivers O-line let him down there. Can't blame it on him when his line performed that poorly on the last drive.
He led them to easy FG range and they get called for holding (that was gates but the TE is part of the line on running plays). Then the line can't even give him a full second to get the ball out before he's hit. 10/11/2010 9:05:05 AM |
Motiak All American 1498 Posts user info edit post |
It was definitely a fumble. The blame goes on the OL for fail blocking, then Randy McMichael for failing to pick up the ball when no one was around him, and lastly Philip for trying to argue with the refs that he was throwing the ball instead of trying to get to the ball then arguing. 10/11/2010 9:07:25 AM |

That is bullshit. The fact remains that Philip should never had been in the situation on having to make a desperate drive to save the day. The Chargers special teams effort is mediocre at best. Sure occasionally punts are blocked, kick offs are returned for a TD, and your clutch FG kicker misses a 40 yard attempt. Having a team that habitually gives up kick returns. Having two punts blocked for points. Nate Kaeding missing 3 <45 yard FG's is not normal.
This is not the NBA. Winning in football takes a whole team effort, not just Priv playing catch with Antonio Gates and Floyd. I think Tom Brady, Ben Rapelsburger, and Drew Brees would not have turned the Jets, Seahawks, or Raiders games into a victory.
I am undecided about the fumble call. Yeah my inner fan wants to say blown call ref. From the other side though i could see it being a fumble. If the O-line had bought him even 0.5 seconds more it would have been an incomplete pass.

It was a fumble you idiot. Your "inner fan" is retarded.
What John Clayton had to say about the game:
Quote : | "Rivers completed 27 of 42 passes for 431 yards and two touchdowns, but for the third consecutive road game, he couldn't convert that final two-minute drive to get the victory. " |
Rivers is putting up great numbers and playing well for most of the game. But he is choking it up at the end (and in the red zone for that matter...anyone see the completion percentage stat they put up in the first half?? 2nd worst in the NFL in the red zone).
Two things that need to improve for San Diego to make the playoffs:
- Special Teams
- Rivers play in the red zone and at the end of the game10/11/2010 1:01:30 PM |

I'm not denying that Rivers could play better on final drives, but good teams don't rely on their QB to make a miraculous game winning drive every damn game.
There are also a lot of dropped balls. Everytime I am able to catch a snippet of a chargers game, I see dropped balls. Hell, if Buster Davis catches that deep ball that was in his hands at the end, we may not even be talking about Rivers blowing another game end situation. They should have paid Vincent Jackson his damn money.
Then again, it's impossible to defend Rivers on here without getting the fanboy tag.10/11/2010 1:11:05 PM |

It's not "miraculous" when it's against the Seahawks, Raiders, and Chiefs. Especially when he's already racked up 300/400 yards during the game, passing at will. It seems that he tightens up a little and doesn't play as well when the game is on the line. That's all I'm saying.10/11/2010 1:15:40 PM |

He can't make game winning drives when his team is blowing it for him.
He made a game winning drive yesterday, into FG range, until the holding call pushed it out of FG range and the line couldn't even hold for a single second.
Name a QB that would have scored there. 10/11/2010 1:25:59 PM |
