I'm going to Stacy Miller (attorney) today to discuss the case and see what my options are as far as suing this girl.

part of me wants to mail the twitter page to the District Attorney too, she was just blatantly reckless and it almost cost me and my dog our lives

Gunnar had to get a piece of glass removed from his leg and now has 15 staples and a Elizabethan collar for the next several weeks

oh, and my house won't be ready to move back into for at least 3 months

My landlord is fucking me on the house, using the accident as an excuse to kick me out with the reason that he is "doing extensive rennovations" (basically saying he's jacking up the rent) gave me 24 hours to vacate and is charging me for carpet that is already ruined from glass shards in excess of my deposit (which he won't give back) which is forcing me to live with my parents into July at least, which as one can imagine, sucks balls.

To add to all of this, because of a really weird and shitty lease agreement we're going to be battling all of this out in court for quite some time. It's all coming down to he said/she said bullshit. Because I had absolutely no access to my house after the accident (only had ~4 hours to get stuff out before restoration company packed all my shit) the house was left messy. The one thing that really annoys me is he keeps saying there were condoms all over the place, which is total crap, it was just a condom wrapper that was under my bed. big deal. but he refuses to give me or my parents access to the house to fix up minor damages and clean the place. after we've asked him politely several times he responded by forwarding us an email he sent to Cary Reconstruction instructing them to arrest me/mom/dad if we come near the property for tresspassing.

so all in all, the landlord used this accident to deny me my 30 days (NC Law, 60 by our contract) to clean the place and move out honorably, he's going to charge me a fuck ton for damages and then double dip by charging his insurance too. so after court with him, and the girl trying to recover my money, I'm going to be well short of anything close to a deposit+first month rent on a new place.

no new info on the girl yet, but I will be forwarding all of this shit, twitter, etc. to the prosecuting attorney

but if you're going to court over your landlord issues then hopefully you'll get things figured out and he won't be able to charge you in excess of the deposit (he can't)

Sadly, I think that he has the upper hand in this situation even though it's total bullshit. He's also charging way way way too much to replace stuff. Like I had this really cheap flimsy mirror door thing for my closet doors and my girlfriend cracked the glass, I'd imagine to be a $20-30 fix (to replace the mirrored glass) he's trying to charge $300. Shit like that.

The lease has really odd provisions. like I wasn't allowed to hang anything on the walls, pictures, posters, etc. without explicit permission, but at the same time he would come in there unannounced ALL the time, and I mean ALL the time so he saw all of it, and never said anything. he actually commented on how nice my house was quite often. but yeah he'd come in with his key unannounced all the time, I'd either catch him coming in or I'd see mail on my counter (he'd go through my mailbox too), he'd come in to plug extension cords into the interior outlets to run weed eaters, etc. because he never fixed the outdoor outlets (despite my asking him several times). So he can say I did stuff that went against the lease, and I can say he did things that were against it and it's all going to be he said she said bullshit. Another thing is that the lease said no smoking in the house, and I don't smoke cigarettes... ....so he'll probably bring that up in court so all of this is just a nightmare. he's painting it out to look like there were broken beer bottles, condoms, and drugs everywhere when in fact I just had a badass beer bottle collection (200+) that got shattered when the car hit and he found a couple wrappers under my bed. I just hope the judge see's through his bullshit

oh and yeah I'm a grad student at State so I'll probably hit up student legal next week after spring break

these were the most recent pics that I happened to find on my iphone, just showing that the beer shelf was tasteful and not just like a rando trash collection, it did have over 200 bottles and went around the perimeter of the entire room/kitchen. I had other stuff on the shelves too like jars of malted barley, hops, etc. as well as a section of the shelf with my favorite pint glasses from beer festivals (all of which were shattered, none spared)

I would highly recommend going to court over this if he's going to be a dick about it. Just got done with jury duty and a good defense lawyer should easily be able to get the jury to side with you.
