Ryan Grant (GB) Starks not available Shonn Greene (NYJ) Mike Tolbert (SD) Reggie Bush (MIA)
As a season long RB3, I prefer starting RB... but may play Tolbert

^^ I think with a new QB, he is probably likely to see alot of touches as a safety valve
So I ended up with Brees, Romo and Orton on my team. Of course, that leaves me starting Danny Woodhead at RB.
One guy offered me Shonne Green for Romo straight up. Any reason I shouldnt take it? I feel like I should be able to get a solid double digit production guy for Romo, but no takers yet because he is so unpopular. 9/9/2011 8:46:25 AM |

The guys on NFL network's Fantasy Football compared Jared Cook to Vernon Davis size/speed wise. I drafted him a couple of times just to see what he could do with a decent QB getting him the ball.
You should be able to get somebody better than Shonn Greene for Tony Romo regardless if the whole league thinks he's a douche. Sit back and wait for him to kill it if they want to act that way. 9/9/2011 9:04:27 AM |

pick 1:
Marcedes Lewis vs. Ten Jared Cook @ Jax Dustin Keller vs. Dal (on waivers) Brent Celek @ StL (on waivers) Zach Miller @ SJ (on waivers) Todd Heap vs Car (on waivers)
^agreed, last year I ended up with Rodgers, Vick and Big Ben on my roster and kept them all because no one offered me fair trade value for any of them. I'd rather have them on my bench than in an opponents hands if they are only offering me a player who would never sniff my starting lineup

While Lewis doesn't have a proven qb throwing to him, he is one of the only real targets there (and a qb that gets in trouble will be looking for short drop offs) . I'd say play him this week and see how he does (look at what kind of targets he is getting) and make your decision next week 9/9/2011 9:23:14 AM |

I really think Collins will do a good job there.
He isnt a bad QB by any means and they have a LOT of weapons.
I think he is worth holding onto for at least a game. I have Reggie Wayne and wont be letting him go.
Collins has more weapons now than he EVER had in Tennessee. Not to mention he has Peyton to tell him how to play better.
Id hang onto any colts WR for at least one game. I think you will be surprised. 9/9/2011 9:33:36 AM |

PPR? I'd probably go Bowe... although Receivers are always risky as they can go an entire game with just 1 catch and 10 yards. What is the defensive matchup like in that game? I mean, Bowe is a better receiver than addai is running back, fantasy wise, but is having a mediocre running back in a flex spot better for you than a better wr? that is the question you need to be asking yourself (I typically go for the guaranteed points of the rb over a wr, unless the matchup is awesome). I guess it depends on how the scoring goes in your league.

this is a slightly different case... I think Britt is going to be a stud this year- but is missing the majority of preseason due to an "injury" going to hurt him much? Honestly, I do like Britt over a tandem back in stewart9/9/2011 12:46:47 PM |

Yes it is a PPR league. Yes it is a flex spot.
The matchup favors Bowe simply because Buffalo is going to suck just like always. From what I've read, Addai is going to get a lot of carries with Peyton out, especially in check downs (which adds receptions). It's a tough choice.

Stradley predicts that Derrick Ward will start, and Ben Tate will "get more time" if it evolves into a blowout. A blowout win for Houston wouldn't surprise us considering the state of the Colts' offense. Per Stradley, the Texans are confident that they can field a strong run game with or without Foster, and won't push him to play if he's not at full strength. Arian Foster: ‘All signs point to me playing on Sunday’ By Andy Behrens
Things are definitely looking up, Arian Foster(notes) owners. On Thursday, Foster offered these comments to Yahoo! Sports Radio's Craig Sheman: "The hamstring is coming along. It feels really good, and all signs point to me playing on Sunday." Not some signs, gamers, but all signs. Listen to Foster's comments right here. Of course you won't know for sure that it's him until John Clayton has a chance to review the clip in his acoustics lab. Still, this seems like good news. Foster thinks he'll get the green light for the opener against Indianapolis. You might recall that he performed decently against the Colts in Week 1 last season (231 yards, 3 TDs). Ben Tate(notes) and Derrick Ward(notes) remain Plans B and C, but it sounds like Plan A is OK. Foster has been running in recent days, so it never seemed like his return was far off — certainly not 3-4 weeks away. The threat level has officially been reduced. Keep checking practice reports, but this recovery seems to be going well." |

^^I would take the Browns, don't see Cincy doing anything positive this early in the year.
Trade proposed to me, here is my current roster:

Bench Matthew Stafford QB - DET LeGarrette Blount RB - TB Matt Forte RB - CHI Ben Tate RB - HOU Mike Sims-Walker WR - STL Greg Olsen TE - CAR

I don't think it's a good trade. There's a big uncertainty as to how good Indy will be with Collins... and how long will Collins be at the helm?
See if he would take Tate and Blount for Foster maybe. 9/9/2011 4:32:43 PM |

I like Rice over Foster this season for numerous reasons. Foster has lost his strong FB and is coming off an injury. Last season he was proving himself as a rookie back. There is reason to believe he won't perform as strong this season. Finally, defenses have had a lot of time to familiarize themselves with the Houston offense and Foster as a game-changing weapon, and I feel that they will come to the field ready to stop him.
I do like Reggie Wayne over Williams. Maybe he'll trade just the receivers?
Also: Don't be disappointed with a lackluster week 1 for Ray Rice. They're playing the Steelers. 9/9/2011 4:33:21 PM |
Matlock All American 1255 Posts user info edit post |
^^obviously I would be shifting some players around if this went through, I drafted Tate when the injury scare with Foster came out. I offered Tate for the handcuff at first but he wasn't interested, and I wouldn't have gotten enough of a return for Blount.
^I had Rice last year so I am used to the down weeks when they play the steelers. He wanted a RB out of the deal so a WR only trade wouldn't work. 9/9/2011 4:39:11 PM |

DO NOT TAKE THAT TRADE
As far as Grant/Starks, if yesterday is any indication, the packers are giving the ball to Starks about 2/3 of the time. Sproles is definitely a good pickup as well. If it were me, I would get Sproles no matter what.
What does your roster look like?9/9/2011 4:48:00 PM |
Matlock All American 1255 Posts user info edit post |
^What is your reasoning?
After last night I would rather have Starks than Grant. GB likes to be young at all postions when it has the option.
I have been blown up by trade offers today, and the majority of them are suprisingly tempting. Different league with a large number of bench spots plus IDP, still got Rice, so my current roster is:
Josh Freeman QB - TB Ray Rice RB - BAL Darren McFadden RB - OAK Jeremy Maclin WR - PHI Santana Moss WR - WAS Vincent Jackson WR - SD Dallas Clark TE - IND Tim Hightower RB - WAS (FLEX) Billy Cundiff K - BAL Cleveland Browns DEF
Bench Ryan Fitzpatrick QB - BUF Joe Flacco QB - BAL Marion Barber RB - CHI LeGarrette Blount RB - TB Lee Evans WR - BAL Malcom Floyd WR - SD Lance Moore WR - NO Steve Smith WR - CAR Greg Olsen TE - CAR Detroit Lions DEF
Trade proposed is I give up Hightower and Get Schaub. Definitely think I am week at QB but not sure that I am deep enough at RB to let Hightower go. Any thoughts?

^lol it's funny that you mention that about starks... I've been saying that for the last month and a half, yet no one wanted to believe me. Now the followers are starting to try and "steal" him from me with some crappy offers (he is on my bench in 3 of my 4 leagues). I don't think he is a starting RB quite yet, but by week 5 or 6 he will be worth some good moves
also, the more that I think about it, the more I think Hightower might be a decent RB2 or flex position player this week, and the weeks to come- he looks good in washington, and with the QB situation they have, he might be touching the ball a lot. 9/9/2011 4:58:41 PM |
Matlock All American 1255 Posts user info edit post |
I agree about Hightower, and I would definitely want to start him against the Giants, but I am torn between the mediocre (fantasy-wise) QBs on my roster and the fact that I am thin at RB already as far as this trade is concerned.
I was able to grab both Grant and Starks in one league, in the 3rd and 2nd to last rounds with consecutive picks. Even though GB doesn't usually do a lot of moving in the regular season, I wouldn't be shocked if they worked out a deal involving Grant if Starks produces early. 9/9/2011 5:06:05 PM |

Blount should be in your lineup over Hightower almost every week
