rewatching the game. We should avoid any matchup where Painter has to guard a 3 point shooter. He is completely unwilling to guard the 3 point line. 11/17/2011 10:04:39 PM |

no, we should teach him to guard against the three. 11/17/2011 10:35:53 PM |

Howell has no real post moves. Painter much better. Don't feel confident at all passing it to Howell and letting him go to work. He used this summer to get into shape. Needs to use the next summer to develop big man skills.
CJ Williams also got beat very badly several times

yeah howell is better at using his size to get good position and then dumping off to him or letting him go to work on the boards.
He is a good ball handler but he doesn't use it that effectively yet. 11/17/2011 10:55:17 PM |

^^ Post moves are no good if you can't finish from them. Otherwise, it's just a turnover because the weak side is likely cleared out to give Howell space to work. It's much better to use the possession to give Brown the ball to drive and make things happen. You cannot waste possessions using suboptimal strategies at this level.
Tracy Smith is someone with good post moves. Ben McCauley that 1 year is a guy with good post moves. Howell is not, yet.

I don't think CJ Williams played well on defense at all. He got screened out of plays, and he didn't hedge screens. Priceton's last 3 was caused by him not stepping out when his guy set a screen. If you are trying to stop the 3, that should just be instinct. 11/17/2011 11:14:04 PM |

BINGO, lets hope he got that message clearly across to him even before he walked off the court last night^
basically CJ Williams almost cost us the game because he let that guy have a free step. i still have no idea why he didn't step in. what was he thinking.
luckily painter saved his ass.

CJW was hot and cold on defense. Don't forgot he had a great steal on the wing that lead to a fast break. He did okay at times staying with his man and preventing some backdoor layups. But got burned a couple times too. That's just gonna happen against Princeton. 11/18/2011 9:14:24 AM |
