Great game. Thought there could have been more penalties both ways but lots of wide open action. Arsenal prob a tad unlucky with some of the saves Lloris made.

Guendouzi looking like he can be a world class midfielder. Sucks he’ll be at Barca or Real for his prime.

[Edited on September 1, 2019 at 8:40 PM. Reason : Also, Emery is brain dead if he doesn’t use Guendouzi, Ceballos and Torreira has his midfield 3]

It's mentioned in there but I think it's fatigue and the amount of games catching up to him. I'm surprised by this part

Quote :
"However, all of his non-shot production -- chances created, through balls played, passes completed in the final third -- has remained relatively stable or declined slightly."

because I always felt from the eye test that he was dropping deeper and becoming more of a passer/creator.

I don't even care to read the article because it feels like journalism trolling, but he didn't have a great year last year. Post WC exhaustion, then he got hurt and missed nearly our entire Spring campaign and gained weight waiting that ankle to heal. I don't need stats to explain that to me.

He's got 7 goals in 6 matches for club and country to start the season so I couldn't be any less worried about whether the best striker in the world will bury one on your favorite team this season.

Journalism trolling? It's just a summary of stats that show his decline in shots, xG, non-penalty goals, etc.

lol at the best striker in the world

Soccer media is more sensationalist than the US media. I barely read anything outside of what Alasdair Gold or Dan Kilpatrick have to say on Spurs.

Who is then? Just curious. Don't say Firmino either.

I would say Sadio is very close to the best in the world right now.

He plays LW. That's not a striker pal.

I mean Firmino is playing out of this world right now so I'm not sure why you said no to him because he's clearly better in the last year but anyway

I see forward/striker interchangeably (i.e. someone that is primarily there to score goals) and there are too many to name that are better, Messi, Mbappe, Neymar, Ronaldo, Salah, Mane, Hazard as a few examples.

But if we're talking a true striker and someone that plays centrally, I'd take Lewandowski or Aguero over Kane in the short-term based on form.

Ribs check out my link from last page, same writer gave Kane best attacker for 2 years ago. Writer is American, used to write for The Ringer. He is a Liverpool fan but imo he writes great analysis

C'mon man... I hope you're kidding. Kane would walk into Bayern's team if he showed up in Munich tomm. It really is true that Premier League fans will never actually give Kane the respect he deserves.

Also, you're trying to count wings as strikers? What has this world come to? Two completely different positions but you already knew that.

Lewandowski... you're having a laugh. We'll see in a couple weeks.

Liverpool fans disagree about Kane. I'm shocked I tell ya.

Nah I'm not making a judgment there. I will say, over the years and today, I'm more afraid of aguero then kane. I don't watch enough Bund to speak on Lew, but that XGA number is pretty dang good. Especially today with kane dropping off.

Btw here's the kane bit from the other article (he's mentioned more)
Quote :
"2016-17: Harry Kane, Tottenham
Just five players have broken the 1.00 non-penalty goals+assists-per-90-minutes mark this decade: van Persie, Aguero, Suarez, Daniel Sturridge, Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane. Alexis Sanchez edges Kane out by three non-penalty goals+assists (32 to 29), but we're giving Kane the edge because his raw totals are still super-high despite featuring in nearly 700 fewer minutes than Sanchez.

(Quick aside: Given all the attacking talent they've had since 2010, it's incredible, and perhaps incredibly unlucky, that Arsenal haven't won at least one title this decade. There's van Persie, Sanchez and Ozil, but also this infuriating fact. In RVP's first-year at United, Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski were Nos. 1 and 2 in the league in non-penalty goals+assists per 90. Olivier Giroud was third in 2014-15 and second in 15-16.)

This is probably Kane's best season to date: 24 non-penalty goals and five assists. He scored 28 non-penalty goals the following campaign, but nabbed just two assists and did so in 500 more minutes. This was the year in which St. Totteringham's Day finally didn't come and the biggest reason why is that Spurs had a 24-year-old striker who became the best attacker in the league."

I mean, you're the one counting Kane penalties like it means he's in form right now.

I don't think he sucks man, I just don't think he's best in the world and definitely not in his current form.

I like Kane but I feel like there's at least 2 or 3 guys ahead of him.

On Laporte & Stones' injury:

Quote :
""It's a big challenge," Guardiola told a news conference on Tuesday."

Well maybe you shouldn't have spunked 200 million on fullbacks you bald twat. Cry me a river Pep. I hate Pep, his "genius" is nothing but a bunch of expensive players. Pep would be absolutely trash with the team Sir Alex had or even this current Liverpool squad.

Unfortunately these injuries mean Klopp and Pool will likely win the title because the other 4 behind the top 2 are jerking each other off to see who can hold off long enough to not blow their load and finish above the others.

Jesus I was just looking at the analysis from this weekend and the arsenal game was even WORSE by xG. Watford was favored to win 3-1 by xG! I didn't watch the game game, was it that bad?

That starting mf was grooosssss. Not a creative bone in the 3. Milner one on one with gk and tries to pass. Mane shoots and Hendo is just so shocked that Mane didn't pass to him.

Thought Liverpool looked decent, maybe a little loose in the final third. Fabinho is an absolute baller.

Much better than last year's game in Naples. Penalty was of course complete horseshit and the seocnd was just flukey. Felt bad for Adrian really because he was excellent and 2-0 is harsh for him. The point blank save he had on Mertens was Alisson-esque.

So stupid that there's more room to lose games in the CL than there is in PL.

So my verdict on VAR is that it is just as inconsistent if not applied properly by an independent panel. I don't understand why it is so hard for them to do that. United have had missed penalties from the Palace match and missed red cards as well that should have been corrected by VAR. The penalty awarded yesterday should have been corrected.

No better than refs in my opinion and still leading to delays. Either limit VAR to only situations that are clear, handball (with the new definition), offsides and penalties or get rid of it altogether.
