It just doesn’t make sense. Any score on that drive makes it a 2 possession game. It’s a pretty valuable possession. And we just said fuck it maybe we’ll hit a 40 yard bomb for the first time all year on this play.

I know the QB is making a read and deciding where to go with the ball. So it’s not all on playcalling. But it’s just head scratching

I think the main take away for me is that we have very limited talent at the skill positions. Our best offensive weapon is a true freshman. The other WRs are average or worse. Armstrong is flawed for sure, but his legs make him our second best offensive weapon. We don’t have good WRs on the outside that can make a play when we need it. Raphael has flashed in limited time at RB. Allen has also. But we can’t consistently the run ball. Had the ball up 8 in the 4th Q 3 times. Those drives went: 6 plays 15 yards, punt. 5 plays 9 yards, punt. 3 plays 1 yard, punt. Defense did its job. We got 2 4th Q turnovers and the offense could’ve iced the game. But we just kept punting it back to UVa.

Similar to UConn game (although not as close in the UConn game). We had the ball up 10 and one more score would’ve put it away and we’d all feel better about things. But the O just isn’t good enough to go get us points or sustain a drive when we need it. D is clearly worse than last year but that’s to be expected given the losses. But the D has been good enough. Offense can’t keep asking the D to bail them out though.

That last drive after the interception was infuriating. I thought Anae was supposed to bring some sort of creative offense and we ran twice straight up the middle with Mimms(?) and then a QB draw on 3rd and 10. Just gave ourselves absolutely no chance to start a drive.
