On an unrelated note, I found myself at Verizon today. lol Played around with the Xoom and while Angry Birds on that screen was nice, I wasn't thoroughly impressed especially for the price. The iPad 2 wasn't really anything to write home about either.] 3/12/2011 9:42:54 PM |

looks like Verizon is finally releasing the Thunderbolt. Rest of the LTE lineup probably won't be far behind. Now they just need to get LTE in Raleigh and Wilmington

I'm having problems with my droid x, I can't send text messages to some of my friends, but I can others. I am not sure what the deal is here... I just get "text message not sent" errors with random people, but once I find I can't send them messages, I can't ever send messages to them. Anyone know what's going on here?

I finally got fed up with my droid x on Saturday and called Verizon. They sent me a new one overnight that I got today. Stuck the battery in and cut it on when a coworker came in my office. When I picked it back up, the backlight was on but the screen was black (one of the issues I had with my other one). I decided to try it anyway on the off chance that it was a fluke. Now the screen will only respond to every 10 or so touches. wtf man 3/14/2011 7:28:02 PM |

i used to use widgetlocker before...mostly because i HATE that nasty droid clock font that's on the default lockscreens:
now i'm satisfied with the built-in ones to CM7 - the rotary revamped is pretty decent actually...with my custom font of course.

my latest config has pulled me ~52h on my 3500 mAh battery...even with it overclocked at 1113 mhz
that's on CM7 nightly 17 for the Evo talk time was around 1.5hrs over that 52hr span Wi-Fi was on nearly the whole time so that saved a lot of battery of course
but even then, I've never been able to get 24h+ on any build, this is amazing...

dFshadow All American 9507 Posts user info edit post |
it adds half a centimeter to the device: http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/bacy35hev4-bk.htm
but if the 3500 gives 53 hours, then the slim fitting 1750 must give at least 24h - gonna try that out next... 3/14/2011 8:20:50 PM |

so I have a droid incredible and the lock button is slowly sinking in. it's almost unpushable. I've downloaded an app that allows me to unlock by pushing the volume/camera buttons but I still am forced to lock with the button the top as well as when I need to turn it on/off/restart etc.
basically, is there an app that locks the screen without having to push the top button? will I have to actually take the time and stop being lazy and root it? or does anyone have a suggestion to successfully bring life to the button so it's not getting closer and closer? 3/15/2011 12:52:25 AM |

get widgetlocker
there's a widget you can put on your homescreen to lock the screen and shorten your screen timeout to 15 or 30 seconds max 3/15/2011 1:07:26 AM |

I'm really liking it as well. Smaller/thinner than I expected (good thing), feels really snappy & quick. I've been getting almost 2 full days out of a battery charge with moderate usage. Wifi is almost always on, a few phone calls & many texts each day, facebook and a couple other apps/games used sporadically throughout the day.
Random question though: Anyone else having issues with the media player? Mine "times out" after about a minute or so when left untouched playing a song and stops. I've tried the stock media player & doubletwist, but can't seem to find a setting to fix it other than pressing the power/unlock button every 30 sec. Recommendations?3/15/2011 10:01:11 AM |

^make sure you aren't using a task manager to auto-end anything. There are like 5-10 different apps that if ended will crash the music player. I believe it pulls services from them, and has no idea how to react if those services are ended by a task manager
Just like if you auto-end maps you'll have troubles getting anything that uses the GPS to work.] 3/15/2011 10:46:01 AM |

I don't have anything set to auto-end (that I can tell), the list is empty in the stock task manager. I also have installed the advanced task killer, but nothing is set to auto kill there either. Could that still be the problem? 3/15/2011 11:06:25 AM |

Quote : | "Sanjay Jha and various leaks already told us as much, but here's the official word: the WiFi-only Motorola Xoom is launching on March 27th for $599. Retail availability will be truly widespread, with Amazon, Best Buy, Costco, RadioShack, Sam's Club, Staples and Walmart all offering up the Honeycomb tablet. Other than the omission of the 3G and 4G radios of the original Xoom, you're basically looking at an identical hardware package. That includes a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 1GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a 5 megapixel autofocus camera, and a 10.1-inch display with 1280 x 800 resolution. " |

I'll probably make a Verizon trip at lunch to check it out. Still not 100% sold on it and I may end up coming out cheaper by waiting for tiered plans since I'm on wifi 95% of the time and don't use much data. And LTE won't be coming to Raleigh and Wilmington til later this year so I'd have to take a trip to Charlotte to test it out if I bought it. 3/17/2011 9:41:09 AM |
Senez All American 8112 Posts user info edit post |
Yeah, I've got an upgrade avail. around the first of April, so I won't do anything before then and probably not for a while afterwards. Let the first 4G devices get in and go through the wringer. Will probably still go to the store to mess with them. 3/17/2011 9:54:06 AM |
pttyndal WINGS!!!!! 35217 Posts user info edit post |
Hopefully they offer unlimited LTE for a bit longer before going to tiered. I'm not a heavy data user but it'd be nice to get locked into. I'd be all over the Thunderbolt if it weren't for the damn battery. It also seems that there is no toggle to turn off the LTE radio like the Evo has for wimax which probably hurts the battery even more.] 3/17/2011 10:12:05 AM |
