^i might be wrong, but i think there are two different options, the silver being cheaper, gold giving you more downloads, some full version arcade games for free, some other bonuses
Fight Night also has a thing where the better you do in a round, the more potential 'trainer points' you can get for between rounds, which you can spend on partially restoring stamina, health, etc
if you get knocked down, which you do in training, its kind of tricky to get up...you have to center the left and right sticks...kinda tough to explain but takes getting used to" |
Silver is free. Basically you have access to the marketplace, but cannot join multiplayer games. If I get a game and want to play online again, then yeah I'll upgrade to gold.
That seems like the as the fight goes on, the better player will continually get better...seems backwards. Seems like that would almost eliminate any type of "comeback" victory.5/31/2009 2:43:44 PM |

FN4 demo is only 3 rounds so its tough to tell, but you get rewarded for different things, like most punches landed in a round, or landing 70 percent of the punches you throw in a round, etc...it still seems like it comes down to effectively blocking and dodging and counter punching and not overly using your powerful lunging punches, similar to the old games 5/31/2009 3:50:58 PM |

Were any of you keeping up with the MS E3?
Basically:
1) Alan Wake 2) Crackdown 2 3) Left 4 Dead 2 4) New Splinter Cell 5) Forza 3 6) Halo: Reach 7) A lot of media enhancements (dashboard works with facebook/twitter) 8) Metal Gear Solid 9) A new motion camera that apparently recognized any movement/voice command
I think that's most of it 6/1/2009 3:26:55 PM |

I beat Battlestations: Pacific last week.
It's a pretty faithful sequel to Battlestations: Midway. I played through the American and japanese campaigns on regular and my only complaint is that too many of the levels can be beaten just by throwing everything at the enemy. 6/1/2009 3:30:23 PM |

pretty damn good E3 conference for 360. That motion sensing thing looks like it could be really awesome and everything they showed in the demo like skateboarding and soccer looked really impressive.
New Metal Gear Solid game is pretty awesome, not just a port of MGS4.
Thing that I can't believe is playing 1080P video with no delay. I mean, you can't even stream shitty quality video without buffering so that sounds amazing. 6/1/2009 3:41:35 PM |

Sony did the motion sensing things years ago. I tried it out at Sony World in Tokoyo. Worked fairly well and was fun. Not sure why it never took off - maybe lack of games to support it, kind of like the old power glove. waiting to see what ms comes up with. 6/1/2009 5:01:52 PM |

^not trying to troll or start a debate but...
...do you intend on actually playing games on the 360? Because if you do...uh the gaming library was well worth it before. All I see now as far as the big hits at E3 are sequels. 6/1/2009 5:52:39 PM |

^^^^^^ The instant streaming works by incrementally stepping up the quality and reducing the compression until full 1080P is achieved. Also, you have to have an 8Mb down connection for full 1080 (good time to consider AT&T U-verse!)
What was so impressive about Microsoft's briefing was that half was for the typical gamer and half was for the wives, kids, grandparents, etc.
With the technology demoed today it would be conceivable for my wife to walk up to the system, the new camera system automatically signs her in with facial recognition, she waives her hand a few times to open up Facebook, uses the speech recognition to post to her wall about the latest episode of the Batchelor, all while last.fm plays her Beyonce/NoDoubt/Neyo/ToriAmos station... oh my god, what have they done. 6/1/2009 11:41:04 PM |

I had it on the PS2. I'm pretty sure it was called the eyetoy. Anyways about the only fun game was the one where ninjas would attack you and you had to hit them to knock them away.6/2/2009 12:06:36 AM |

Wow, I didn't realize FN4 took out using button to control punching
That moved it from a A game to a C- to me, and I may not purchase it anymore
that's extremely disappointing...I hate the analog stick punch system 6/2/2009 2:01:05 PM |

Meh, FN3 I used analog-style and I got use to it, it's pretty fluid for the most part. I never even tried the button option, maybe that was easier, oh well, glad I got use to analog. 6/2/2009 4:16:17 PM |

I did
I played it for about 15 minutes, and was not a fan.
Several of my counter punches would incorrectly be thrown because apparently I wasn't rolling the stick correctly, and when in close against the opponent I basically was just flicking the stick wildly to attempt to connect with a punch. I also would rarely get the "roll" mechanic to work and my fighter would just stand there watching the punches come flying in. 6/3/2009 3:34:05 PM |

I've been playing Prototype for the last couple of days, and it's fun as shit. It really reminds me a lot of those spiderman games (Spiderman 2, in particular, which was my favorite). It's a lot of fun.
Every preview of it keeps comparing it to Infamous, but I didn't like it at all. But Prototype is awesome, IMO. Of course I'm one of those 6 people that actually bought Crackdown so I could play it and not to get the beta codes for Halo 3. 6/7/2009 7:00:26 PM |

^Just so happens I added it to my GameQ. I agree though, doesn't look that interesting, particularly if you only have a certain set of abilities. I could see how you can have fun killing everything you see for awhile, but after that it probably gets boring. Some reviewer compared it to Spiderman 2, which I could see too.
Sending back Assassin's Creed only after one assassination and running over some people with the horse. Got a bunch of achievements for killing guards, but it was meh.
This is what I have in my Q: X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Uncaged Edition, Saints Row 2, Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, Fallout 3, Dead Space, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, Prototype 6/8/2009 12:10:45 AM |

Why do all the big E3 titles come out AFTER the summer? granted I'm not in school anymore so its not like I have summer vacation to sit and play video games...but still. The majority of the people that play games ARE in school so you would think the gaming companies would release these titles when they would have more time to play them. i.e. Summer, November, Christmas.
/rant only because I want to play some of those titles now 6/12/2009 11:48:35 PM |

I've been playing it a couple of hours a day for the last week or so. It's still lots of fun. Trying to get all the upgrades is awesome. There's nothing more fun than a 100 story flying elbow into a tank followed by spearing a helicopter from 200 ft away, pulling yourself over to it, and hijacking it midair. Finally just beat Bionic Commando. For all of the shit the reviewers have been giving this game, the only thing I can honestly agree with them on is the "radiation boundary" problem. I am going to be VERY disappointed if a sequel is not made. There are quite a few loose ends in the story which I'm curious about. 6/14/2009 6:20:23 PM |

If you never played Web of Shadows, you should pick it up. It's a lot like Prototype except with more fluid movement. I played Prototype for about 40 minutes last night and that was my big gripe -- movement just isn't as fluid as I'm used to after playing Web of Shadows. Oh -- and the target locking system doesn't seem as intelligent as WoS's. Fun game though.6/16/2009 9:32:37 AM |

OK, so I'm really bored and need a game to kill time this summer. I looked through some of the bargain bin games (sorry I'm poor and nothing new really intrigues me) and I've come down to either Dead Rising or Crackdown....opinions?

^I would reccommend Crackdown out of those two. Dead Rising is cool for a little while, but its extremely difficult and the save system sucks balls. Crackdown is pretty cool and actually one of my favorite games. It's awesome to just jump through the city once you get your powers up to level 5. 6/16/2009 3:43:25 PM |

Dead Rising is one of my favorites on the 360. The mass of zombies and all the different weapons laying around the mall. The bosses in the game also made the game really fun, and just an overall great game. 6/16/2009 4:21:57 PM |
