Hey all! I am selling some wedding stuff individually or as a bundle for $50. I am also selling my wedding dress for $50! We are moving and really need to clean out some space. Let me know if you're interested or pass it along to someone who may be! Pictures are on the Craigslist ads.

I also have a ton of eggplant/purple and silver rocks/marbles/notsurewhattocallthem that I bought at Michael's and I used them to fill some vases at my wedding.

Accessories
http://raleigh.craigslist.org/clo/4532340916.html

*Size 8 bridal slip with fullness towards the bottom. Paid $45, will sell for $20!

*Russian blusher made with Swarovski crystals. Never worn. Paid $24, will sell for $10!

*White sash, unopened. Paid $15, will sell for $5!

*Chiffon flower comb/hair pin with white flowers and crystals. Paid $44, will sell for $10!

*Caparros white shoes with beading, size 8. Paid $55, will sell for $20!

Feel free to make an offer on any items or buy everything for $50!

Dress
http://raleigh.craigslist.org/clo/4532334620.html
I am selling my Michaelangelo wedding dress that I bought from David's bridal in 2011. Since then, it has been hanging in my closet in the wedding dress protective bag. It is a size 8 and I had alterations done so I can say it truly fits a size 8. Typically wedding dress sizes run at least one size smaller. As you can see in the picture, there is some staining toward the bottom but a cleaning or even alteration could take care of that. Save a ton of money by buying this dress for only $50 and then you'll have money leftover for those services. Or if the dress is not your size, you can at least use lots of material. This dress is a sleeveless, simple yet elegant dress with some ruching on the waist which gives the appearance of a smaller waist.

Has anyone held or attended a wedding at Lake Johnson? I'm considering it as a venue.

If it's not too late, I've haven't been to a wedding at Lake Johnson, but I've seen some really great pics of weddings there.

Etiquette question: we're doing a small destination wedding with just very close family and friends. Literally less than ten people. Friends of mine would like to throw me a bachelorette and asked me for a list of giris I'd like to invite. Is it bad etiquette to invite people who aren't coming to the wedding? It's just going to be a night of fun drinking and bar hopping. No presents or anything.

I've recently acquired a local wedding planner as a client. She is easily the most interesting client I've ever had...just for the stories...she's normal. Most brides are not that bad...but the crazy ones are AWESOME!

I don't think so because they are considered vendors...unless they are personal friends/family members of yours.

I sent one to our photographers because they were really fun, friendly people and I thought they'd appreciate it. They did. If you have extras you might as well send them one.

Question:

A significant number of family members & friends have not responded to wedding invitations. Do I hunt them down to find out if they plan to come or assume they aren't coming by their lack of response?

I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to ask. I know we both had our moms do a good bit of re-con for us...which in turn had those family members/friends finally turn in their RSVPs or call. But if you gotta know...you gotta know. Obviously you don't want to be rude/pushy about it, but I say go ahead and start contacting peeps.

This sounds like the sort of thing where people show up without RSVPing and act like it's your fault because "you should've known we were coming". I don't think it's rude at all.

I can't be the only person on this site tying the knot this spring/summer.

We kinda fucked up booking our venue. We reserved it 5-midnight and the wedding starts at 6. I thought 'What are the odds someone's going to want it the same day?' only to learn that someone reserved the spot right up to the time our reservation starts.

Now my fiance and FMIL are freaking out because that leaves little to no time for us to setup chairs, decorations, etc. It also means that my fiance and I would probably need to assist in the set up process, leaving us little to no time to decompress before the ceremony. So ummm yeah, if you're booking somewhere either get the whole day or give yourself ample time to setup.

what kind of venue is it? seems strange that a place would allow back to back weddings like that with no time in between.

^^ Where are you getting married??

That is kind of strange, but the venue and/or wedding planner (if you have one), should been more upfront/realistic about the probability of that happening.

Every placed we looked at told us that they only book one wedding a day. The place we went with fucked up and double booked us (we were first)...and tried to finagle both of our weddings to be done on the same day. That's when I informed them that I was an attorney and that wouldn't be a good idea for them. So they told the other bride that she needs to search for another venue.

The venue is Lake Johnson. We don't know if it's a wedding or something else completely. Could be a birthday party, church picnic, or anything.

Maybe you could find out somehow and offer them some money on their fee to end it earlier? How much lead time were you planning on using before you knew about this?

Well we called back to get information about the event before ours. It turns out that Lake Johnson requires the previous event to end 2 hours before ours so the staff can clean and set up for the next one. So the previous event does end at 3 and we should be able to do get our stuff set up in time for the ceremony. Crisis averted lol

My wife found a pricey dress in a shop, and then searched for it online and found it for 1/5th the price. Granted, it was a non-used dress that a woman was selling because she cancelled her wedding...but she found a lot of cheaper dresses online that way. I want to say this is a commonly used method, but I'm not a girl, and I shouldn't know these things.

I cannot recommend Church Street Bridal in Lynchburg VA, enough. It's a bit of a hike from Raleigh, but you can purchase your dress online if you can't make it up there. The bridal shop is run out of the YWCA. All of the gowns are donated (not sold) by couture shops around the country (Kleinfield - Say Yes to the Dress folks - is their primary donor) and they're sold at around 90% off retail typically. You can get a $20k Pnina Tornai for $2000. My dress retailed for $3600 and I got it for a little under $400. The also have tons of dresses under $200. All of the dresses are sample dresses, but many of them (like mine was) are in like new condition. There are also a lot that are a little more loved, but nothing that an experienced wedding alterations shop can't fix.

100% of the proceeds from this place goes towards their mission to support women and children affected by domestic abuse. So you feel awesome about getting an amazing dress at a great price and supporting an amazing cause.

You can check out their current inventory on their facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/churchstreetbridal/photos_stream

Good luck with your dress search!

I think St Lucia has a good one (Sandals). My sister and brother in law went there and loved it (and they've been to many places in the Caribbean). We almost went there, but did Ambergris Caye, Belize instead.

We are going to Greece for our honeymoon. I have never been out of the country, at an age where it mattered at least, so it should be pretty interesting.

Just got back from Excellence-Riviera Cancun. It was awesome! Couldn't have asked for anything better.

Resort was very nice and clean! Room was huge. Staff was very attentive.
There were like 9 different restaurants to choose from.Food was great and the drinks were good too.

If you decide to go here let me know and I can give you some pointers.

^Had a buddy go to Excellence Playa Mujeres for his honeymoon a year ago and he said it was amazing too. Narrowed it down to basically that one and Sandals Grande St. Lucia. Those seem to be the best value for all inclusive package that we've looked at.

Santorini, Greece would be our dream destination but thats just going to be too expensive with the flight.

Keep checking on stuff. I had a few friends get tickets from NY to Athens for $400 one time. And Santorini is definitely worth it...place is majestical.

That's what we did for our honeymoon, and it was definitely worth it--skimp on the wedding if you have to. I think we spent about $2500 on the Greece part of the honeymoon and had an awesome room for the 4 nights we were there. You could definitely do it less expensive.

Headed back to Greece this summer.

Do what you can to make it financially feasible. I've traveled a ton and Greece was amazing for our honeymoon. We did a brief stop in Athens, then onto Crete, Mykonos, and Santorini.

Santorini is an island designed for honeymooners. Spend the cash to get a room on the cliffs overlooking the Caldera. You can spend hours just admiring the view.

A big drawback for me, coming from Crete, was the lack of beaches to swim. Its a volcanic island so sandy beaches are near impossible to find. We ended up doing a lot of swimming around Amoudi Bay and the Fira-Oia hike was awesome (just don't do it in the middle of the day).

I just searched the month of december on SkyScanner and see flights around $1100. You should be able to swing cheaper flights if you watch them regularly.

Where in Crete are you staying? We stayed in Heraklion (meh) and Rethymno (great) and used them as bases of operations. Everyday we took the rental car out around the island to a different beach, most based on recommendations from a coworker from Crete. We hit Agio Nikolaos, Balos, Elafonissi, and Agiofaraggo.

We originally planned to stay in Aghios Nikolaos but decided a lot of the stuff we wanted to do was on the other side of the island so we are staying in Chania. She wanted to stay somewhere a little away from the main area so we plan to just drive into Heraklion one day. She has been planning most of it so I dont really know everything we are doing at this point haha.

We only have a week so I expect to be exhausted by the end. We will fly out Sunday and into Athens on Monday morning. Depending how we feel after the flight we have the rest of the day and then Tuesday we will do all the Athens type tour stuff. Then we are going to the port and taking an overnight ferry from Athens to Chania to arrive around 6:30 am wednesday morning. So that gives us 4 days on Crete and then we fly out the following sunday.
