I think that you should be honest about your reservations. Everyone is allowed to have fears and doubts. Everyone is allowed to change their mind. I feel that by having surgery that you were both keeping your options open. And just because you do not feel prepared to have a child at this exact moment, does not mean that you won't be prepared to have one in 9 months or more.

This happened to me too. My gf moved to Raleigh after graduating college and we see each other more than we have in the last few years. It will pass, but it takes a while.
