Redshirt. Ha. I find it amazing that UNC is trying to bend every rule in the book to defend those guys and avoid giving a student any punishment that they feel would have a negative impact on their program.

The funny thing is that UNC is doing incredibly well without all the cheaters and paid players on the field. Why is their athletic department continuing to drag its name through the mud and "cheat" the rules just to get those guys back? It would be so easy for them to just suspend all the players that have proven violations and then cruise on to what could easily be an 8 or more win season anyway. Make the cheaters and paid players the sacrificial lamb. Heck, you don't even need them.

I guess that's the true Carolina Way™. Defending the helpless player from the big, bad consequences of life's decisions.

The scandal has ruined a game which I used to:

- look forward to and pace the night before about.
- broke up with 2 girlfriends over.
- got one speeding ticket over.
- got in at least one fight over.

I will treat college fb as i do mlb baseball, in a sense, I will cease to care who wins or who is in what conference. I will view college fb and really most sports as professional.

I care little for the nba, mlb, and the nfl gets my attention because it's still a cool sport. However, if unc skates, I better never hear one word about banners in the dean dome, new facilities, great recruits, etc.

All the final fours, wins, etc mean precisely dick after what butch and co. have pulled over there. unless we are allowed to reincarnate Jimmy V, everyone at unc should shut the fuck up and the ncaa should do their job.

I am actually worried that our wealthy alums will agree with my stance. It is not worth giving money to an organization that is competing with a large disadvantage.

Until someone with some power says "we are not going to tolerate any impropriety from our institutions, including no agent money, no academic fraud, no cheating of any kind by assistants and head coaches" then my money is on the sidelines. I hope other ncsu alums agree - don't support Swofford and his evil empire by continuing to blindly give. Speak with your money. Don't let UNC-GAY undermine the money you have given to build the football center and Vaughn Towers.

I dunno, I had the added benefit of wearing a TA jersey to that game.
Video shows he was in, it was obvious from my seats... and the worst was the walk back to the car having to listen to those ass hats talk about the ensuing fumble.
I danced on the field in what, 00 when we beat them there... As much as I'd love to go back, I agree with beergolftile, what's the point of supporting franklin st/UNC with any patronage when they are basically getting away with cheating and paying players.

Agency chairman Drew Rosenhaus told the Sports Business Journal that his employee assured him the allegations were false. "At no time did my employee provide any benefits to any college player," Rosenhaus said in a quote posted on a Sports Business Journal reporter's Twitter account. Katz's involvement marks at least the second time the agency had contact with a North Carolina player during the offseason. Davis, in his fourth year as head coach, recently confirmed in an interview for The N&O and Observer that he became aware while on vacation that Drew Rosenhaus was at Kenan Stadium meeting with a player and the meeting was broken up. "The individual that told me that said that he asked the player to go ahead and leave, and that he asked Drew Rosenhaus to leave," Davis said. Davis declined to identify the player or who intervened in the contact, which occurred in June. It would not have been against NCAA rules for Rosenhaus to meet with the player because UNC says the player was a rising senior. That means it wouldn't have violated NFL Players Association rules, either. Rosenhaus is registered with the N.C. Secretary of State as an athlete agent. Impermissible benefits Besides the troubles surrounding Austin, Little and Quinn, two other players - Kendric Burney and Deunta Williams - have been suspended for accepting trips. Burney took trips to Atlanta, Las Vegas and California, and Williams made two trips to California. Although both players paid for part of their travel expenses, the NCAA ruled that there were other benefits, and they had to make donations to charity. Williams has said former UNC defensive back Omar Brown - who's not known to be associated with a sports agent - provided the impermissible benefits that led to his four-game suspension. Burney's father, Tyrone Burney, has said Kendric's association with Hawkins led to his suspension. Burney initially was suspended for six games but remains withheld from a seventh game, to be played today at Miami. Burney's Twitter page identified current defensive back Charles Brown as traveling to Atlanta with Burney and Hawkins, and that running back Shaun Draughn met them when they arrived. Brown is out for the season. Draughn was withheld from one game. Two other players - Jonathan Smith and Brian Gupton - are out for the season, but it's unclear whether their violations were related to academics or agents. The other players who have missed games are: Michael McAdoo, who has yet to play; Ryan Houston, who has been cleared after missing five games and might sit out the rest of the season without losing a year of eligibility, commonly known as redshirting; Linwan Euwell, who was held out of five games; Da'Norris Searcy, who missed three games; and Devon Ramsay, who played in the first four games but has been withheld since. The documents include the letter from Baddour to Hawkins, dated the week before the NCAA banned Little and Quinn. Hawkins played defensive back for the Tar Heels from 2001 to 2003 and was dismissed from the program in April 2004 for a team rule violation. Hawkins has said he became friendly with Tar Heels players while visiting the team's weight room with Willie Parker, who was a teammate of Hawkins' at UNC and went on to win two Super Bowls as a Pittsburgh Steelers running back. The documents outline four ways that Baddour says Hawkins' "recent involvement with our student-athletes has led to the suspension of some ... and placed them at risk of losing their NCAA eligibility." Baddour wrote that UNC developed information indicating Hawkins "may have" provided impermissible benefits; arranged for meetings with agents; offered to purchase gear and memorabilia from players; and stated to agents and financial advisers that he represented players. Hawkins is also connected to Georgia wide receiver A.J. Green, who was suspended for four games for selling a bowl game jersey to Hawkins for $1,000. ^^^^ I don't have a problem with it if it turns out he didn't do anything wrong and just sat out as a precaution.

But if someone like Kendric Burney red-shirted after being declared ineligible by the NCAA for 6 games, I'd have an issue with that because it takes the bite out of the punishment. It would set the precedent that kids like him who were good enough to come in and play right away (and not use their red-shirt) could cheat their asses off/accept gifts from agents and if they get caught, it's not a problem because they can just use that year to red-shirt. Red-shirting might hurt a little from the standpoint of having to stick around college for another year and potentially hurting their draft stock, but they likely would benefit from having another year to get bigger and stronger. Not to mention that college is fun as shit, and who wouldn't want another year of chilling and fucking hot bitches if someone else is paying for it?
