since no one reads the last post on a page:

does anyone know anything about the halo edition consoles? i'm looking to get one for about $100 on craigslist, and just wanted to make sure there wasn't something funky with them

From what I've read they are just the same as the premium/pro editions, but just painted. You can also find pictures of them RRODed as well, so you run the same risk as any 360 owner.

To those that suggested Web of Shadows...well done.

I don't know why it got such an awful score on IGN, I'm having a blast swinging around the city and taking out about 5-6 guys without even touching the ground

They slowed things down a bit, easier to hit holes, tackling seems better, graphics are good.

But again, just a small step that they do every year.

You have the choice of Cowboys or Giants in the demo... I guess since they want you to use Brandon Jacobs and try to run over people and get gang tackled

on that note, has anyone added music to their harddrive? I read somewhere all you need is to put a USB key or something to it, but that hasn't worked in the past

I've added music to my HDD by ripping from a CD

yeah, I figured I could do that, but then I "lost" most of my CDs. I'll probably do it for some of my CDs that can't be streamed from my laptop for whatever reason

i have a usb flash drive with 2 gigs of music that i just plug right into the xbox 360 and it comes up under music.

you can also just plug your ipod right into the usb drive and do the same thing.

Yeah you can PLAY music off most USB devices but as far as going to the HDD, I think you need to rip from a CD

Generally you won't have a need to do this, but last year for example in NCAA Football 09, somebody compiled a list of audio files for the various Wolfpack sounds (ie after a 1st down, touchdown, etc). In order to get those to work in the game, you had to burn them to a CD, rip the CD to the 360's hard drive, then create a playlist for each sound effect

I got to download the preview of the new xbox live update today... scheduled to release in a week or 2.

Seems like not much has changed, Netflix updates are nice though. You can browse through movies to add to your queue right on your xbox

You mean instant notifications of when they get achievements? Because you can already compare what achievements you have with your friends (and it even tells you what date each of you got that achievement).

I know it works on xbox.com, but I can't remember if you can compare through the console (I know you can see what games they've played.)

It's quite possibly one of the best investments you'll ever make as far as gaming goes, either in buying the hardware to DIY or in paying someone to do it, it's still a great value. I don't even maintain a monthly newsgroup subscription, I wait for a few games to come out, grab a 2 membership for ~12 and download in bulk. On a good day, I can download an entire game in 2 and change.

I flashed my own firmware with iExtreme 1.5 and by the time 1.51 came out the mobo on my desktop took a shit, so I ended up paying to have it done as it requires a desktop PC. Even then, it was only $25.

I have a question:

First, I have Burnout Paradise and it seems to always update the version of the game (1.7, 1.8, and now 1.9). Can I delete the previous versions of the game? Just saying b/c the other two versions take up a lot of space.

What does that big circled number beside the gamertag mean? Last night, I was looking at some of my friends' profiles, and some had a big 3 circled on the right side of the gamertag label. One friend had a 4. Just wondering.
