Yeah, Syracuse is notorious for springing that trap on people at the perfect time. Gott talked about it in pre-game and knew it was coming, but Turner just freaked out when it happened (and understandably so). I can't believe Cuse doesn't use it more. It's deadly.

duke has no big men. we rely on our big men to help and against duke you just can't do that. even helping off amile gave up a few buckets. obviously not being able to help off of parker at 4 changes the spacing completely. that and have 2-3 other players who can shoot the 3 and beat anybody off the dribble makes them an impossible matchup for us with vandy.

duke is the miami heat as far as their lineup/roster/strengths/weaknesses. they are too quick for us to exploit them on the boards too.

K figured out 10 years before everyone else that going small and shooting 3s is the way to win. They're going to have to keep moving the line back but as more and more kids grow up shooting long shots I'm not sure if they'll ever be able to catch up to it. Before you know it every team will have a poor man's Dirk playing center with four guys who jack up 3s around him.

Gott did well this game imho. Our players (Turner) just kept fucking up the game plan and you could see it in his reactions. I don't blame him one bit for this loss - good timeouts, good preparation, and he obviously hyped them up for the game.

We lost because Warren was absolutely exhausted in the second half (you could see it on his face when he hit the press table trying to save a bad pass from Lewis) and Duke threw everything they had at him, and our other guys weren't able to make up the difference. Turner went 2/10 and we just had stupid fouls all over the place.

Good game, good season. Our anticipated ceiling coming in to the year was a fringe tourney team and we ended up a couple points away from being comfortably in. Shame to waste TJs career with zero wins in the big dance though.

He didn't really do well adjusting to Duke's change of defense on Warren. That was clearly the coaching move that made the difference. They sold out to stop Warren, and we never punished them.

We also didn't do a single thing on defense to slow them down.

Can't really expect the likes of Gott to out coach K, but one can always hope.

^^What offense do you draw up when they triple team him. There isn't a whole lot of plays you can run when your opponent is committed to putting three guys on him. Lets remember Turner went 2-10 of which 6-7 were open looks. He hits ANY and its a different game.

All of our bigs were actually very efficient because they focused on TJ. We even got some easy buckets from them near the end, albeit too late. If they are triple teaming one guy, the other guys can score.

It's up to Gott to show our players how to exploit that (and recognize that himself).
