nah, my modem is incredibly shitty and cuts itself off after a certain amount of bandwidth, and I can't get off of work to go replace yet.

Do you guys think I could trade my fightpad (used 30 minutes) for a standard wireless controller? Maybe a play and charge kit too?

should i download Mass Affect for 19.99 or trials HD for $15.00? I've never played Mass Effect, what's it like? I can't put down the Trials demo.

Mass Effect wasn't as much fun as everyone on here and the rest of the universe hyped it up to be.

Though i only played it once and didn't do much of the side missions / exploring.

My roommate (and a lot of the people we know) recently downloaded Battlefield: 1943 from Live Arcade. It's nothing amazing, but it's a great game for just $15 or so. For those that don't know, it's just BF1942 remade in the BF: Bad Company engine.

i got the monkey island remake recently. such a good game, was nice playing it with updated graphics. hope they give other good games from that era the same treatment.

my buddy who always wanted to play worms 1 hates worms 2...he is mad he cant just jetpack over to my worms and plant dynamite every single turn like he did in worms 1

he does like my custom game mode though...Banana Blast (i think thats what i named it)...you have some ropes and jetpacks and blowtorches and stuff, but your only weapons are infinite banana bombs...in worms 1 you couldnt give more than a single banana bomb in any custom mode i dont think

Wheelman is dope

Arkham is nothing short of fantastic. I downloaded my copy from the newsgroups and all that jazz, but this is definitely a title I wouldn't have any reservations about paying retail for.

I'm playing the hell out of Shadow Complex. Beat it, now I'm going back to get all the pick-ups. Probably gonna rock out a bunch of the challenges and go for some of the impossible-ass achievements.

Favorite part is probably punching dudes after you get the power armor.

Supposedly the combat system gets more complex as you go on, and enemies begin to use more and more weapons

Wow TRU has a great deal

you sign up for a reward card (free on the web site, takes 2 mins) and you get a 30 dollar GC when you buy the game

I'm seeing some increased complexity in the enemy AI, I'm about ~20% in, thus far they've introduced 2 new type of mob plus upgraded weapons on some of the older ones.

Probably an of the EB Games in North Raleigh, but back when I was buying games I'd skip the lines and just hit a 24 hour wal-mart @ midnight on release day.

Before I start a thread, figured I'd give it a shot in here since so many of you spoke about flashing your 360.

I don't have a DVD dual layer burner (heck, I don't even have a normal DVD burner), and was thinking about modding the xbox. Is the easiest route to get an internal DVD burner from newegg?

Are there any good deals out there right now?

What about an external instead of replacing my current drive?

Do you have to have a certain type of drive/disks to successfully burn?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827118030 $29.99 shipped.

Swapping out the internal is much cheaper than going the USB route.

I've been using Memorex discs for well over a year now with no issue. Some people swear that the Verbatim discs are the absolute best, but I'm well over 100 games in and the only time I've ever gotten a coaster was when I had a bad copy of a game. I stopped getting bad copies of games when I switched to a better newsgroup.

how sad is it that my comp is so old i'm not positive I would have SATA capabilities?

yep, I was right...no SATA

let's see if I can find an IDE one

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827118011

bingo...basically the same, but IDE. Unfortunately it's out of stock, but not like I've already flashed the box, so I'll just put it on auto-notify.

Thanks again ^

Yeah, since IDE is pretty much an obsolete technology because of SATA I doubt newegg will get any of the other ones in stock. Your options are to buy an external drive or to buy an internal drive along with a 5.25" enclosure w/ USB -- a kit that basically tkaes an intenrla drive and makes it external. I'm too lazy to do the price comparison right now.

If you've got an older system, hard drive space is something to consider as well, especially if you plan to archive games long term, each game runs around 8 gigs.

looks like there are several on eBay for close to the same price, I may just pick one of those up.

And yeah, I wasn't planning on archiving the games, basically once it's burned and works I have no reason to keep in on the computer anymore

"I MADE A GAME WITH ZOMBIES IN IT1!1!"
(or something like that)

It's in the top downloads in the Indie Games category, only costs a dollar, and had 4-person multiplayer. Plays sort of like Geometry Wars, but personally I find it more fun. Also, there is a song.

I'd call it a must-buy.

(For the record, I myself have not made any game which includes zombies. The title of the game itself references its developer in the first person.)

got the drive flashed yesterday from a guy in Gboro, and works like a charm

$30 for first flash, $10 for each update. Took him about 15 minutes, but watching what he did, it would have taken me all day.
