Power out for 1000 in Raleigh, called and they said it won't be fixed til 2am at least. Our neighbors have power so I'm a little pissy...

The conditions were perfect for excessive lightning and the tops of these storms pushed 60,000 ft which helped in charge separation etc! I took some video in Ch. Hill:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Eq6zCHZ5VA

In this second one the camera goes out of focus on me (killing the ultimate shot) but the sound is amazing when a strike occurs within yards

^ Thank you. I will be kicking myself for awhile for the damn autofocus on the second vid. It would have been my shot of the year so far.

I was in Greenville this past weekend and saw some decent mammatus clouds overhead early Saturday evening. I'm pretty sure that's the first time I've ever actually seen that particular formation in person.

When the line from the west rolled through later that night, it ha died down and wasn't all that impressive as it got close. The lightning had potential though (ba-dum-chhh).

^Very cool! What did you use to shoot those? What kind of exposure?

Sorry, posted it in the SLR thread, but not here.

Shot with a Nikon D7000 with my 17-35mm f/2.8 lens on a tripod. 30 second exposure at f/5.6 and ISO 100. Manual focus on infinity. Set it up for an automatic timer shoot so that it would shoot like 10 in a row and left it alone. After the first batch ran for a bit I checked them out and then readjusted it. But this was my first time ever doing this kind of shooting, so I was just guessing and using trial and error to pick the best settings.

I have rain guards so I usually leave them cracked a little especially with it being hot as fuck outside lately. Passenger side got a little wet last week during the freak monsoon so that makes it a major moment. Don't have them down as much as I did then so we'll see.

Drove right through the middle of it last night on 540 headed towards Durham. Other than being very windy and rain falling in annoying sheets it wasnt too terrible.

A dark cloud came by?

That storm last night blew my huge potted plants into random neighbors yard and drove the rain under the front door and through the doorknob.

We didn't get anything in Fuquay really...very light rain... it went just south through lee and harnett county...

However, there was some very sharp lightning about 5-10 miles to the south as I finished mowing my yard. That wasn't too fun....

Dome COULD be in effect, looks like its moving from South to Northeast....Im hoping for some rain but not holding my breath. Watch it "pass us by" and blow up to the north
Best chance we have is it holding together from the south, 30 percent chance so far.
