^^You can't not get the voice either. There's absolutely no way around that minimum unless you get on a AT&T family plan. On the family plan unlimited text is $30.00 flat. 10/4/2009 12:04:49 PM |

add your gvoice number to your fave 3 or 5 or whatever - unlimited calls to and from that number means no more regular minutes needed 10/5/2009 10:08:00 AM |

Except for there is no 'fave 3 or 5 or whatever' included with the plan you have listed. You can't sign up for the A List feature until you bump up to the 900 minute, $59.99/month plan. 10/5/2009 2:30:50 PM |

http://www.mikechambers.com/blog/2009/10/05/building-applications-for-the-iphone-with-flash/
Quote : | " This morning during the day 1 keynote at Adobe Max 2009, Adobe announced that the next version of Adobe Flash (Flash Professional CS5) will include support for creating stand-alone applications for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch. As you can imagine, this is something that we are really excited about, and we expect there to be a lot of questions. This post should address some of those questions, and point to additional resources with more information.
So, what exactly did we announce?
The next version of Flash Authoring will enable developers to create stand-alone iPhone applications using Flash technologies (including ActionScript 3). These applications are just like any other iPhone application and can be distributed via the Apple iTunes Application store. Indeed, there are already a number of applications created with Flash on the store today.
One thing I want to stress is that this is for standalone applications, and is not the Flash Player for mobile Safari (which is something we continue to work on). The end result is a native iPhone application, and not a SWF that runs in the browser. " |
this will open up the development possibilities to even more than just the folks who are willing to learn Objective C. i should also note, that MonoTouch, a framework that allows .NET developers to write native iPhone apps has been out for a while too

ever since i did that carrier update for the mms, almost every application i use crashes after just a few seconds
and the touch sensors appear to lose their accuracy. I touch something at the top of the screen and it registers the "click" about 2 inches towards the bottom of the screen
plus it doesn't want to sync about 50% of the time to my new macbook pro
i restored the phone and it's still messing up. probably have to go to the apple store
i wish apple wouldn't hurry to release software updates without making sure they work properly] 10/6/2009 8:13:25 PM |

we (our business, 8 people) had a LOT better coverage with verizon. our construction admin guy could go all over northampton, halifax, anywhere in the NE part of the state and make a phone call, internet services too for the most part. service is absolutely nonexistent with at&t there. we had to switch him back to verizon while the rest of us stayed w/ at&t and our iphones. does at&t not share cell towers or something? i don't know how that works.
with my moto q on verizon i could get 2.4-2.8Mbps download, with the iphone right now from my office i get a whopping 32kbps. of course i don't really need it here since we have wifi, but still. at&t coverage is horrible and i'm not sure how it got to be so bad. what's verizon doing differently? (serious question) 10/7/2009 1:25:14 PM |
Shaggy All American 17820 Posts user info edit post |
verizon and at&t use different network types (CDMA vs GSM respectively). They cant share towers. The 3g standards they use are also different (EVDO vs HSPDA). As far as network speed idk why at&t is slower. They're probably just doing it to save money. 10/7/2009 1:30:53 PM |

I just had my cool iPhone moment of the day.
I got this program this weekend called Club Cards that lets you put the barcode number into it from all the local grocery/book/auto parts stores and it gives you a scanable barcode so you don't have to carry around 15 different cards. I was at Harris Teeter this afternoon for the first time since I got this program.
The girl at the checkout (probably about 16) asked to see my VIC card and I pulled out my iPhone and hit a button and held my phone out in my hand for her to scan. She looked at me like I was crazy, and I said, "scan it". She scanned it with the handheld scanner and it worked. You would have thought I had cured AIDS right there in the store because she went apeshit.
"That is the coolest thing I've ever seen, I'm gonna go home and put this on facebook, I am gonna tell all my friends, but none of them will believe me. I can't believe I just scanned your phone and it worked" Seriously for the next 2 minutes she couldn't talk about anything else. I really didn't know what to say. I think it's neat and all, but she thought it was REALLY neat. 10/7/2009 5:46:13 PM |

Iphone update that hopefully fixed the 3.1 bugs.
Apple today released iPhone OS 3.1.2, addressing several issues regarding waking from sleep, network service disruption, and crashing during video streaming. iPhone users should connect their iPhones to iTunes and click the "Check for Update" button to obtain the new version.
This update contains bug fixes and improvements, including the following:
- Resolves sporadic issue that may cause iPhone to not wake from sleep - Resolves intermittent issue that may interrupt cellular network services until restart - Fixes bug that could cause occasional crash during video streaming The update is compatible with all iPhone models and weighs in at approximately 240 MB. Apple introduced iPhone OS 3.1 almost exactly one month ago, bringing a number of new features including Genius recommendation for applications, Genius Mixes for music and purchasing of pre-cut ringtones.
Update: A corresponding update is also available for the iPod touch.
Also, the iPhone OS 3.1.2 update for iPhone in U.S. is accompanied by an update to AT&T's carrier settings file, which brings the settings to version 5.6. 10/8/2009 2:01:27 PM |
