Chip McCormick or wilson mags, new sights, although they may have to grind off the old front sight and dovetail cut the slide. Maybe some VZ grips and a flat trigger and call it good. 10/15/2011 10:39:12 AM |

everyone I know who has had one had a lot of jamming/FTF issues. That is not an uncommon problem with 22lr pistols, but I'm personally more a fan of the Ruger line of 22's (mark III, 22/45, etc...). Not to say that the mosquito isn't a cool little gun, but expect to be spending some quality time at the range pulling casings out of the ejector port10/15/2011 11:59:39 AM |

Looked at the sig before i bought my walther p22 - just got a better price.
like ^ said FTF issues are common, but youre feeding a rimfire round through a mag. and using filthy .22lr ammo. most times people have FTF issues with mine it is because the mag spring is so light it is easy to push the follower too far down and load a the rim of a top round behind the rim of the one below. other than that keep it clean and its fine.
But i will also second "get a Ruger" - much more comfortable to shoot since both the sig and the walther (and others) have a scaled down grip dia. and length that makes it feel like youre shooting a squirtgun, esp. if youre at the range and switch from a fullsize to that or back. Another option would be to get a conversion for one of your fullsize guns, although reliability varies pretty wildly with these from my research.10/15/2011 5:32:36 PM |

speaking of 22s, my taurus pt-22 blew the slide off today.
glad it didnt hit me in the face.
barrel flipped up and slide flew a good 10 yards. sheared off a good bit of metal from the frame so i guess its toast.
quick google confirms im not the only person having this problem 10/15/2011 9:43:25 PM |

I have no real qualms about purchasing a Ruger MK III or 22/45. They are great guns, I love the style, they are reliable, and I enjoy shooting them. I suppose my only issues with the Ruger is that "everyone" has one and it's $320 new (22/45 with Cocobolo grips or Mk III with 6" fluted barrel). Even used they are roughly $250-ish. I like the Rugers, I just haven't fell in love with them like my Marlin 795, Glock 26, Winchester 1400, and Mosin Nagant 91/30.
Ideally, I'd like to find an accurate and reliable .22lr semi-auto pistol for ~$150. It appears my tastes have exceeded my budget. Perhaps I should be looking at revolvers in that price range, if they exist. 10/16/2011 1:48:31 AM |

^ 150 will be a tough buy if you're looking for a semiautomatic 22 unless you find a something like a chiappa (sp?). I have a Ruger MKIII 6 7/8 SS which I love, though admittedly it's overpriced. They're nice guns but if I had to do it again and didnt pay for looks a little, Id go Browning instead. You can find P22s for 250 at pawn shops but Ive never been wild about them. 10/16/2011 6:46:42 PM |

^^You can find P22's *Sometimes* under $150 and they are nice. Sig has had nothing but problems from everyone I know thats had one. Rugers, well you know you have shot Kevins and mine. I sent you a PM on a $200 S&W 422 that is perfectly reliable, but yet a little ugly lol. 10/16/2011 11:08:42 PM |

Most 22 pistols are going to have feeding, firing, and extractions problems. However, the Ruger MKs and Browning Buckmarks tend to have far fewer problems than P-22s, 22As, Mosquitos, etc. For some reason every time you try and make a centerfire looking 22 pistol you end up with a less than desirable gun. So...You aught to stick with the older proven designs.

You can get a MK III 22/45 as cheap as $250 new if you look hard enough. It won't have the optional grips, but you can mod it yourself to take 1911 grips. I've seen used tapered barrel ones go for under $200 a few times on various gun boards. The S&W 22A is a cheap gun, but those can have some durability issues with buffers breaking. You can also look for old S&W 422s. I've seen them sell for around $200 used.
For $150 you should be able to get a Heritage Rough Rider single action revolver. I've heard fit and finish is rough, but they work. Anything else is going to be a bit more money.10/17/2011 3:21:52 PM |

i bought a ruger blackhawk not too long ago and love it, love rugers in general, but cant justify that amount of money just to shoot 22lr.

Starting another AR build, and should have it done by march or so. -USA Tactical matching upper and lower -Spikes Nickel Boron BCG -Timney skeletonized 4lb drop in trigger group -11.5" gov't profile barrel -5" welded flash supressor -YHM midlength free float hand guard -Magpul stock and grip
This upper will be short and very light weight compared to my other uppers, as well as spitting a giant fireball. 10/17/2011 8:16:52 PM |

-Lighter weight -I already have a 16" barreled upper -I wanted something silly, and have dubbed this the "flame thrower" build. -I am working out the logistics of setting up a trust and starting to collect NFA items. When that happens, I will cut the flash hider to 2".
This will probably benjust as loud as my 7" barreled pistol AR.

10mm is a beast, but it's expensive if you're not rolling your own. Even then it's not exactly cheap. Only other thing that comes close to that kind of power in an auto is 357 Sig, which is not cheap either, only more available. 10/19/2011 7:12:43 AM |

10mm can approach the low end of .41 mag loads, so it's not really made for plinking, though I guess you could. I think of it as more of a hunting round (Ted Nugent hunts with a glock 20) with some "BANG-wow" applications when you go shooting with friends or whatever. It's overkill for SD and it's pointless to load it soft if you hand load(that's what .40sw is, a shortened, downloaded 10mm), so it's a pretty niche cartridge. 10/19/2011 10:08:42 AM |

sorry for all the random (probably dumbass) questions.
i had an AK a while back that had a chrome-lined barrel.
can one have a non chromed-lined barrel... chromed?
i shoot a lot of corrosive ammo out of my tokarev and am wondering if this is even possible- if so, is it a more delicate operation than taking it to some random plating shop?
probably a dumb idea since i cant find anything about it on google-
thanks! 10/20/2011 8:34:48 PM |

Just replaced the trigger connector in the G27 to a Scherer 3.5lb connector. Trigger feels great and is just as smooth as factory. It feels like a SA trigger. The break is not as crisp as the factory glock connector. After going through my tigger exercises I noticed a lot less deflection on the front sight as a result of the decreased effort in trigger pull. I can see how it would be easy to AD with a lighter trigger, but I hope that I can train myself to feel comfortable carrying it around with the new connector. It was a 2 minute remove and install task, so it's not a big deal to swap the two connectors if I'm at the range and want to go plinking or join in some official/unofficial competitions.

looks like you also have a Magpul trigger guard in FDE. You're also missing the AFG or index-point
