Hmmm... that's odd. It changed all of the PP locations to USA vice the city you live in. That sucks because I could always talk shit to people who played stupid and tell them I was going to go to where ever they lived and kick their ass. Sadly, between no talking unless you're seated and this new development, Party Poker is becoming less fun to play on.

maybe this whole 10 buy in plo8 experiment is not really a valid project.

running sooo bad ever since i moved up to the 100s.

its like, i can run bad and still break even though is the thing.

then today, get stacked off 3 times in 65hands.

which sucks.

play 1100 hands of solid poker to get back to +~$65, which is a good long ways from being down >$300.

then to get stacked off in a horrid situation where i had a feeling i was being freerolled, i just couldnt let go of the nuts.

I was hoping that the turn counterfeited him or something, or maybe i resucked out into a set over set situation.. i was just hoping he didnt have the low made. i was wrong.

pot'd pre, potted the flop, he pots the turn, i repot all in, he actually sat there for a long time, then caled with the made nut low, 2pr and a flush draw.

makes the flush on the rvr.

dont get your stack in as a 62.5/37.5 dog, when you are drawing dead for 50% of the pot. this is basic omaha, and i blew it. got too excited about a set of aces, and blew my load all over my own face.

back to the 50s for a while, get back to the requisite 10 buys for the 100s and hope i run better.

its interesting though, only down $80 on the night after blowing off 4 stacks through the course of the evening.

the final one where i was freerolled i had over 220 on the table, he had me covered.

i cant explain how horrid of a play it was.

just frustrating to do something then 10 minutes later realize that even while you were doing it, that i should have trusted my feelings that i was being a dumbass.

how do you guys keep yourself from making really dumb plays occasionally?

or is that really the measure of a killer player vs a standard winner? lower frequency of just shitting the bed?

i dont really know, today has confused the shit out of me.


2 more hands went down that also confused me.

one i knew i made a horrid play the whole way, but still dont think i could have done the right thing, and lost to A8 high. when i checked the river after he checks after i missed my 28947514758024 out draws on the turn and river. he had like $30 left into a $165 pot, i didnt htink he would fold anything after check calling my pot bets the whole way after i repotted on the flop..

i mean, how often does he fold off getting like 5.5:1 on the end there when he's committed like 75% of his stack?



the other one was where i folded bottom set, backdoor flush draw, i had no possible low on a low made board uncoordinated in suits board..

two guys with made nut lows were going apeshit, with a guy with TP with a 8 kicker repotting along.

ehhhhhhhhhhhhh turns out in that hand i was actually behind, but after the hands were exposed i was getting 3:1 with like 41% equity in the pot..

i dont know, im just confused with my game right now.

somethings just not quite right.

i just cant find the proper median with being overly tight pre and nutty post to get the action i need for my hands to work out...

Frankly most of us dont. We contine to make the same plays that have a negative expectation. Improper use of the pot odds and implied odds helps us justify it and getting lucky every once in awhile convinces us to make the same "dumb plays". As you continue to play you start to realize that there are many ways to save money (in this case, not making dumb plays). The pros just make fewer mistakes than the rest of us


Sometimes just fold the hand and move on. Yes you may have folded a winner but its the long run that counts. Unless the pots odds truely justify that call its okay to let a couple go. Always try and figure out why certain feelings arise bc usually there is a reason for it...soon you'll figure out which ones mean what and you'll begin to trust your instincts with confidence.

Today? Dude, try the last 6 months, esp. the past 3. Never been in the red so much, never been psychologically tested as much, never learned so much about myself. Never had to throw my balls on the table so much not to mention had to (shudder) ask for help so much. I hope you've paid your dues as a gambler early on man b/c thats exactly whats going on with me now, and until every poker player out there has experienced it I find it hard to look at them as a high caliber player. I am not a high caliber player but I know all of this shit will prepare me to become on someday if I choose that path. You really see how good a player is while they are playing thru a losing streak...ive been humbled

Hey folks,

Not sure how many of you know me, but my name is Mike D and I've played in the area for a while. Anyways, got home a little while ago from PKR. Tonight was the first time they switched Friday nights to 1/3 PLO/PLO8 (button's choice). It was a blast... there was a lot of action (Akash in for almost $2K) and I finally enjoyed playing a smaller game. I highly recommend it if any of you are looking for a change from the standard NLH. Btw, I walked away +$416 :-).

So just an FYI, but PKR changed to 1/3 PLO since Friday nights in Cary have so many NLH games these days. They are going to open up Sunday nights now w/ 1/2 NLH since there don't seem to be many (or any?) Sunday night games around. Ok, well just sitting here BODOGing and thought i'd give an update since Ben isn't around anymore. Good luck on the felt!
