Apparently money's not everything to Shaka. Can't say I blame the guy. He's a God there, and he can live off the first Final Four in the school's entire history for a loooong time. $1 million a year for probably at least ten years is still a ton of money. Way lower pressure too. He gets them to a S16 within the next five years, VCU fans are jumping for joy. He does the same for us and we're like "about damn time".

Enrollment: Yes (NCSU=31,041) (VCU=32,303)

Endowment: No (NCSU=$464 Million) (VCU=252.903 Million)

Although I remember NCSU being over 500Million last time I checked. Wonder if that is a market reflection, we actually lost endowment money, or somebody just updated the Wiki with more accurate info.

UNC is well over 1 Billion in academic endowment (+ their athletic endowment has 100% funded scholarships, something we aren't even close to)

We need Goodnight to go all T.Boone Pickens on us. Hell, if he gives NCSU 1/10th of his wealth @ death it will be a drastic improvement.

0What I don't understand is why we don't have a large scale campaign to raise our endowment. I am sure they fund raise like crazy all year, but what about the little guy? Can I donate $20 a month to the endowment, or do I have to donate a whole scholarships worth. I wish they would have a full scale Raleigh wide fundraiser with goals and all. (much like an athletic facility donation drive) To try to raise that thing over 1 billion in the next 10 years. Nothing can help a university more than a heftier endowment. It supports scholarships, programs, professors, facilities, the whole 9 yards.

This if the first time I've had negative feelings since our coaching search started. There was a glimmer of hope with the big-name coaches, but I was fairly certain we didn't have a chance with any of them. But being turned down by Smart to stay at a lower paying, mid-major job is a pretty good shot to the self-esteem.

Anyone will be better than Lowe...let's just hope we get lucky.

Ok, here's what i'm hearing, for what it's worth:

Jay Wright and Gregg Marshall both have conditionally agreed to their respective "offers", pending BOG approval and final details. I don't have numbers or anything, but that's what I've heard.

Hopefully the offer to Wright is accepted.

i think they have campaigns to raise money for endowments all the time (both academic and athletic) -- at least i get mailings and phone calls about them, are you a member of the alumni association and/or wolfpack club?
