I'm surprised on these forums how many people have 2 and 3 boxes
If mine were to get banned, oh well. If I get sick of playing single player, then i'm done with the 360...maybe i'll move to ps3. There's no way i'd buy another 360 10/30/2009 11:08:48 PM |

For those of you that have recently been banned from Xbox live for one reason or another, I suggest looking into Xlink Kai.
Basically it allows you to play any LAN game over the internet (kinda).
Any game that has a "system link" option can use this program to find other consoles to connect to. The most notable recent games with System Link are Borderlands, Modern Warfare 2, and L4D 2.
The only catch is you have to be within a 30 ping limit to the other boxes. This is something new added to the xbox 360 games. If you pop in a Xbox1 game (ex. halo 2) you can play with people all around the world with no problems. With the new cap (because of these programs I'm sure) you need to find a game that is much more local.
I installed the program last night and had it working, and was able to search for games. The closest game I saw last night was in New York, which had a 46 ping. There has to be plenty of people that would want to take advantage of this in or around NC, so I just wanted to spread the word.
Since I wasn't actually able to join a game, I'm not sure if you are able to speak over the headset or not, but it would at least be some multiplayer if you are unable to play that otherwise.
There are some pretty good tutorials on the website as well.
It apparently works for several platforms, but all I was concerned with was Xbox 360.
There is also another program called "Leaf", but I have not even looked at it as it seems you have to have a friends list to play instead of having open areas to join.
Might be worth a separate thread if people are able to use it on campus, but being in Gboro I have no idea if students would be restricted or not.

Well, now I'm having a hardware problem.
Have any of you had a game keep spinning after you eject the game?
Up until now, when hitting the eject button the game would slow and stop spinning, and then eject.
Starting two nights ago, when I now hit the eject button it immediately kicks the game out without letting it spin down, and makes a god awful scratching sound. It hasn't scratched the games yet, but have any of you had that trouble? Is there a fix? 11/23/2009 3:50:28 PM |

I have mlb 2k10, mass effect (1), elder scrolls oblivion and fifa 10 in my rotation
of those I continue to play fifa 10 the most. manager mode is so addictive and I lack the patience to get good at hitting in mlb2k10. maybe trying to get better by hitting via my player mode is the dumb way to go about it since my 2b character is hitting like .180/.180/.220
I just got mass effect in feb and oblivion should be arriving at my apt today. I like mass effect but it's frustrating as fuck to die with its save system. 3/17/2010 1:32:13 PM |

USB memory support starting April 6th.
Works for thumb drives or portable HDs. 1 GB - 16 GB (single partition) Up to two partitions supported (so max is 32 GB).
Not a huge deal, but I'm glad I can use my 2 GB thumb drive as a memory card (because I was never going to buy a 360 memory card). 3/26/2010 2:29:22 PM |

If you have porn on the thumb drive, can you watch in on the 360? Because the Playstation allows this. With the Playstation, I can download a scene from one of my favorite sites, say Brazzrs, ZTOD or VipCrew. Then I can transfer it to the drive and plug it into the Playstation, then catch a nice jack on the sofa instead of going into the bedroom. This makes for a nice change of pace, and it would be nice if the 360 provided the same opportunity. 3/26/2010 2:37:49 PM |

^ Did the 360 not support that already? Maybe I'm just thinking of network share.
All I know is that if you want to use this feature it will format your portable/thumb drive. 3/26/2010 2:39:47 PM |

Oh you can plug in a flash drive or USB hard drive and watch porn or watch movies on the 360 (I think you have to be connected to XBL to play some AVIs, whereas all WMVs are supported regardless)
I'm saying depending on when you bought your 360 and/or hard drive, you got either 20GB, 60GB, 120GB or 250GB
I have my original launch hard drive, which is 20 GB...I have about a gig free, so without deleting shit, I can't say, download Grand Theft Auto San Andreas...or I can't rip a DVD game to the hard drive for faster load times
My point was that it would be nice if I could just plug an external HDD into the 360 and be able to use it as another 360 storage device
I have to be very selective with what demos and trailers of games I download without having to delete other demos...sometimes there are like 4-5 good looking games where I'd like to download demos but they add up to like 5 gigs so I can't do it with my current HDD] 3/26/2010 4:06:43 PM |

You could use your Flash drive or HDD on your xbox already for viewing pics, watching movies, and listening to music off of it. you just had to have it/a partition on it formatted in FAT32.
I haven't read that link, but I'm ~95% certain whatever memory stick/HDD you use will also need to be FAT32 formated because I don't believe the 360 will get an update to be able to read NTFS.
exFAT might work too, but I know for a fact FAT32 works and is the format used on the 360. 3/28/2010 6:20:52 AM |

Last night I got what I thought was the red ring of death, but it was just a red ring from some sort of power source failure. I changed outlets and it worked again. However, when I was picking up the console to put it back on my shelf, I forgot to turn it off, so it completely ruined the NHL 10 disc inside, which is now unplayable. 3/29/2010 9:35:52 PM |

BTW, Major Nelson's account got hacked
Quote : | "Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb has online account hijacked through Xbox.com as part of underground group's publicity bid.
Xbox Live director of programming Larry Hryb has for some time now been the face of Microsoft's online platform for the Xbox 360, thanks in large part to his Major Nelson persona. Unfortunately, Xbox Live's figurehead saw his gamertag defaced over the weekend after a hacker was able to log into Hryb's account.
As documented in a profanity-laced online video shot by the individual in question, Major Nelson's gamertag was hijacked through Xbox.com. The video indicates that the gamertag usurper achieved full access to Hryb's online information, revealing a handful of personal details, Microsoft points currency, and friends lists in the process. In the video, the hacker offers to perform similar services for anyone willing to pay $60.
The man behind the mouse isn't Major Nelson.
In a post to his Twitter feed, Xbox Live director of policy and enforcement Stephen Toulouse confirmed that Hryb's account had been compromised. After Microsoft reclaimed Hryb's gamertag early this morning, Toulouse said through his Twitter account that the publisher was investigating the situation and would report back with additional details as they become available.
"Looks like this was very specific and very targeted to Major. I'll look into the details and report back later," Toulouse wrote.
Microsoft had not responded to requests for comment on the situation as of press time. " |

Quote : | "Released April 6, 2010, Microsoft has unveiled the Xbox 360 update which is reportedly a mandatory update for Xbox Live. The updates are welcomed by many hardcore gamers that have maxed out their capacity of memory storage.
The Xbox 360 update involves the use of a USB storage support which allows gamers to save their games, gamer profiles from Xbox live, and Arcade game downloads. Microsoft joined with SanDisk to create a USB Flash Drive that is pre-configured specifically for the Xbox 360. The SanDisk flash drive is available in 8GB and 16GB but also comes with a one-month Xbox LIVE Gold membership. The flash drives are currently available on Amazon for $34.99 for the 8GB and $69.99 for the 16GB drive. Shipments for the SanDisk flash drives are set to be shipped out starting in May, 2010.
According to Microsoft, other USB drives can be used on the Xbox 360 but they will have to be configured to the console. USB flash drives must be at least 1GB and no more than 16GB however; each console will support two USB flash drives giving gamers up to 32GB of storage. Step by step update instructions for configuring a non-SanDisk USB are available at the Microsoft website.
The SanDisk flash drives come with a hefty price but some gamers are reporting that not all flash drives are working with the update and may be forced to pay more for the SanDisk flash drives. The Xbox 360 website does state “Due to variability in USB flash drives, device compatibility and performance will vary.”
Many Xbox 360 gamers welcome this update as they can now take their saved games and profiles with them wherever they go. Have a saved Guitar Hero game? Now gamers can take their games to a friend’s house and use on other Xbox 360 consoles.
According to Major Nelson Xbox Live, gamers will be prompted to download the mandatory update when they sign into their Xbox Live accounts. Microsoft has released the major features that the Xbox update will include with the flash drive which includes the 1-month Gold membership to Xbox Live and update software.
With the flash drive, gamers will be able to take their games and profile to other Xbox 360 consoles. Gamers can download their map packs, games, videos and avatars to the flash drive. Xbox 360 console owners should receive the update message when signing on to their Xbox account today.
