I'll add all you guys to Xfire tonight.

I've found that the Anti-tank loadout is pretty useful if you are going solo. The MP5 is accurate enough at medium or close range and having the rockets helps against tanks and helicopters. You can easily hold a control point if you and another person have anti-tank loadouts. Some random guy and I held a base on Daqing Oilfields last night the entire map using that strategy. We would find good hiding places on roofs and when a tank would roll in on the flag we would just spam it with rockets.

The only problem is that you have just 6 rockets, so if you run out and you have a bum commander, you pretty much have to die and respawn. Luckily the commander we had was half way decent and would drop us a supply crate when we asked him to.

Am I not able to play online with the demo? I recently downloaded it to see how I would like the game. The single player works fine, but whenever I try to create an account, I enter in my username/password/email stuff and it just sticks with "Creating account." If I click anywhere, it goes back to the account info entry page...

Yeah no one really looks on roof tops. There are certain maps where I have gotten in the habit of doing it though b/c it is fairly common.

I might wind up switching competitve playing over to BF2 from GW.. right now playing mostly infantry based maps.

Feel free to join in when we are messing around.

I already had GameSpy Arcade installed from a previous game before I installed the BF2 demo so I didn't reinstall. I made sure it was the latest version too. I am behind a firewall though, so I will try taking that down when I play.

Honestly it sounds kind of lame. I think they should have done some of this stuff up front, like making the maps less vehicle dependent and not so spread out. They are making this big woop about night vision like it's something special, but if you've ever played CS, AA:O, Splinter Cell, or any other game like that then you've had that experience.

I'm sure it will be fun, but it sounds like they are focusing on these little things too much. They mentioned working on specific location maps and level design, and I really hope that they carry through and put a lot of attention into that. That's what makes the game fun and playable, not being able to see at night or climb up the side of a building.

this situation with the patch is rather annoying... I don't think I am going to play until the hotfix is out because half the servers I play on are on the new version whereas half are on the old.. and both versions suck IMO

^^ Opstand, the expansion is adding 10 new vehicles as well (so far Apache heli is one of them). While focus of the expansion may be infantry combat, they are expanding the current gameplay.

I made Corporal last night

Yeah I understand the other additions but it seems like, strictly based on that interview, that they are all hyped up and focusing on the nightvision aspect and barely addressed vehicle or new weapons.

Alright somebody help me out so I don't have to start a new topic. How do I know if I need a PCIe or AGP?

I'm gonna upgrade cards so I can play bf2, right now it has whatever crap came in it: Intel 82865G Graphics Controller. System is about 8 months old.

Im thinkin about the 6600GT.

so what about the AGP vs PCIe issue?

it would help to get the motherboard info or the computer model. A computer "8 months old" could have been built with either AGP or PCIe.

Damn this is pretty awesome. Few questions though: Do I have to constantly be pushing forward while in the planes/helicopters for them to keep flying? I was in a plane and I found myself constantly diving...

Also does anyone have any recommendations as to what kit to use? I still haven't decided which one I would like to get good at, although the special forces one seems pretty good in terms of versatility.

to sustain flight with keyboard you will need to get used to throttling with a constant pressure on forward

assault is generally my suggestion for simple fighting... outside of that I say medic next or spec ops.. depends a lot on your playstyle really

I am going home soon, I will get my old joystick while I am there. It has a throttle wheel on it... will that allow constant flight?

Does anyone else get the impression that EA is somewhat unprepared or unprofessional in their approach to this whole BF2 thing? It seems that the rush of patches, the subsequent "if its broken, please email us" thing is quite ... well... spotty (for lack of a better word).
