My first thoughts w/ that boat are....

All though there is no such thing as a bad boat, the real leaders of the Catamaran business are World Cat, Glacier Bay and one other that is slipping my mind. You should look at those, I don't know much about Pro Cat.

Second, inboards are a ton of work, but if you like doing work on car motors then you should be fine because Saltwater will tear up an I/O. Also, I'm not sure about those Mercs, Volvo is the real leader in the diesel I/O sector. And only 220 hp for a 26 boat? Seems way underpowered to me, and power is everything, especially trying to power through huge wake and currents in an inlet.

I appreciate it man.

I really do like the world cats.. they're my fav as far as cats go and seem to have pretty nice power packages on them.

also some have claimed 54mph gps which is pretty quick for the hull design.

I appreciate all the help man. It will probably be fished more than anything else... dad and i love it...
but we have a friend that has a huge party every 4th on smith mountain lake and i'd like to have my own boat to crash on that weekend.

i guess it really doesn't need to be a tow boat cause we have plenty of them...
and i too would like a walk around setup.

and on a side note... i applied for an engineering job with hatteras and one of my freinds was like sweet so you should be able to get a sick deal on a boat... and i was thinking to my self... yah 1/2 off a 2million dollar boat... i'll hop right on that.

Where are the pretty seaport center console's that were at the beginning of this thread. they made my heart happy.

me and the boy. when we talk about the future.....

we don't discuss diamond rings or houses...

we talk about a nice little cutty cabin at the coast. that's love.

Thats a lucky guy.... thats what that is....

i want a small house (less to clean)
on lots of land for the hound i have and the pointer in my near future
a Big boat ( i love the ocean )
And an intelligent loving lovely wife that either shares my hobbies or understands them....

Is that too much to ask for?

btw i love center consoles but... i want to be able to crash at sea and wake up for round two weather permitting.

I can't wait to do an overnight Canyon trip, hopefully this summer. We got enough safety gear to do it. Too bad you can't really do it off the coast of NC, gotta head up to Maryland.

Boats are for ppl who can drive something and can judge currents, wind, velocity, and power with no brakes whether it's a whitewater raft or (my dream) a 65' Hatteras.

sad thing is, its the morons like you who think this and go drive one... into someone else or a shoal or
get lost in BFE.

now... if i get a boat... i will fit your description...
cause i got a dwi and can't drive a car

but i've also quit drinking so don't worry about me driving a boat drunk

I wouldn't ever get a fucking cat for fishing. 4 of my friends died on one...they were overloaded yes. But as far as going in a straight line yea they ride nice, but when they were stopped is when it rolled. Plus they are ugly as fuck. If I was going to spend that kind of money I would want one that looks nice. Get a 32 Jarrett Bay if you're gonna work for them.

yeah i'm not sure if i have the job or not but that is a beautiful boat

the problems come when it costs twice as much per trip in fuel.

Having a boat your can't trailer is for when you retire. I would die if I was stuck in one spot...gotta be able to fish the Bay for big Stripers in the spring and Tuna in August out of OC, MD.

Its beam, in NC it either 8' or 8'6 but you can tow w/ a permit. We tow our boat and it has a 9'6 beam.

8'6" is the max allowable trailer width. Trick is to cary a tape measure with you thats missing a few inches somewhere and make sure the patrolman is using it when he measures the beam.

Some video my friend Trey took as they went around the State of Libery during the Statue of Liberty Race in July.

http://www.velocitysailing.com/video.htm

Note I'm not on the boat for this video
