I found a 2zz swapped MR2 Spyder for $10k in Virginia that I'm looking at. There's also the matter of the 350z at Leith Euro Center. I'm exploring my options.

^^i don't know, you might be surprised. simca was a very popular brand for a lot of years in france and other parts of europe. it certainly wouldn't be like finding parts for a 68 camaro or something, but probably not as hard as you think.
interesting useless trivia from a mopar nut: simca was chrysler's stepping stone into the european market back in the late 50's when they purchased a small interest in it. they eventually gained controlling interest until its demise around the late 70's/early 80's. the last model simca made was what we know as the dodge omni and plymouth horizon. if you've ever wondered how in the hell vw and peugot engines wound up in a chrysler product when they had mitsubishi to mooch off for compact stuff, that's why. the ironic thing is the the car was produced as direct competition to the rabbit.
also, for some reason chrysler was very persistent in insisting that it was a completely american car. yet they made no qualms about admitting the true origin of the dodge colt (mitsu). they also suppressed the fact that it was what the K car and minivan were derived from, which as most probably know are touted as the "saviors" of chrysler from bankruptcy. quite strange when you consider the reversal of american opinion on japan/france back then. still, it couldn't be known that the french and *gasp* the GERMANS had a big hand in saving an iconic american corporation, could it?
useless crap i know, but i find that kind of history very interesting as it relates cars and politics. if nothing else, chrysler has one of the more colorful backgrounds of the big 3 imo.

I'd rather have one of these actually. Citroen 2CV, in Fayetteville, NC, no less. These things were as popular as VW bugs...in France at least, and probably in any other countries that particularly despised Germans. Cars were made cheap as shit. Didn't have seats, used little hammocks instead. Didn't have a distributer, just fired all the spark plugs at the same time instead. Roll up windows were too complicated, the side windows fold up instead. The list of inadequacies goes on...

man, it pisses me off when people flag my ads for removal.
i live about halfway in between two craigslist cities (Seattle and Bellingham). Each is about an hour away (Seattle is just a little further, but is a much bigger city, so I like to advertise stuff like cars there).
I mean, I just immediately repost when they get removed, but it's annoying.
I flag the shit out of bullshit ads, and I flag ads with lots of keywords in the bottom, but I don't see why people give a fuck what cities you advertise in (especially if you're halfway in between 2 of them). 3/31/2008 3:25:34 PM |

Have you tried putting your situation in the description? I'd be much less likely to flag a repeat ad if it said something about living between two cities so I'd be more inclined to think it was legit 3/31/2008 3:40:53 PM |
