that guy asked me if i was free to practice again, so i guess i wasn't terrible. can't remember a single riff from yesterday. i guess thats why i don't like that sub-genre as much anymore ALL of the songs pretty much use the same scales/riffs. I like music where you are never really sure whats coming next, but isn't so complicated that you can't get a feel for it.

I've been really in to more of the fast death metal in the past few years. Black Metal is mostly just meh to me now.

In any case, Nile fucking rules. In addition to having one of the best death metal guitarists, they also have one of the best drummers in all of metal (George Kolias).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWSAyTyV3l8

And for a live drumcam of that song

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xCFgus0RXY

None of his double bass is done with triggers.

i dreamed that blasphemour went to church with me. then all my old highschool crushes showed up to make out with him at some bar and then he hid a bottle wine in a fancy restaurant sign for later. then for some reason i was a racecar driver and I kept running out of gas. then i was at the zoo and my hands fell off

haha those guys are from greenville, sc originally, cracks me up. One of my guitar teachers was Karl's instructor for a long time and I also have taken a couple lessons from karl when he has been in town in Greenville within the past year and a half. Its funny how nervous he gets 1 on 1 or in small groups trying to teach people guitar.

And I agree that their drummer's bass drum speed is great for no triggers. His drums never sound that great to me, im not sure if its his kits or what.

downloading the new The Faceless album. I hope its more cohesive like Akeldama and not 80 random unrelated riffs glued into one song like the preview track was.

I'm walls1441 and i approved this message.

[Edited on November 9, 2008 at 3:57 PM. Reason : same problem i had with the new arsis as though that wasn't as bad]

[Edited on November 9, 2008 at 4:06 PM. Reason : nope, and it sounds choppy/over produced as hell.]

i can literally taste the triggers on the drums. lol

The song XenoChrist is pretty decent, theres only 90 riffs. But its definitely one of those albums that you can't tell where a song stops and another one ends just because of how random this shit is.

Sons of belial has some good parts. Definitely a step in the wrong direction from their first album though. You can keep it technical and keep it digestable, bands seem to be forgetting this.

I too was disappointed with this album. I definitely enjoyed the Arsis album more. Faceless one just does not have enough cohesiveness and as you said it is super overproduced.

Nile played this little dump of a biker bar in Garner called "The Caboose" a couple of times back in the mid-to-late 90's. I wasn't there, but one of my old roommates who played with them said they came out with bowl haircuts and looking like they just walked out of a SC trailer park. Everyone assumed they were going to be terrible...Then they destroyed the place.

They played Kings with Krisiun and Cannibal Corpse once. That was a great show too.
