Of course blacks are excited he is going to increase their handouts so they can continue being a burden on society. They get to pay less taxes not that they paid them anyways, collect welfare checks and pop out bastard childs.

This week they seem to have given up running against Obama/Biden. Instead they are running against the media, in hopes of giving their base an "us vs them" mentality while hoping to intimidate the media from digging into Palin's record.

I would point out that flush with oil revenues, Alaska is probably the one state that has the least problems with balancing their budget at this point.

no need to point it out, anybody that pays any attention and has some logic can see having a surplus in alaska isnt exactly hard. Its not like there's a lot of expenses compared to other states, and they rake in oil money.

If you read the articles instead of just the headlines, there is a little bit of bias there.

I guess though, according to hooksaw, just reading headlines is a great way to form an opinion.

Quote :
"It was a Speech to Nowhere when Palin said that "I told the Congress 'Thanks but no thanks' on that Bridge to Nowhere, because that was a lie, and the worst kind of lie in American politics, a blatant falsehood that showed utter contempt for the American people that Palin pledged to serve, assuming we are too stupid to look up or know that truth, that she pushed for those funds in Congress and while she got great political mileage out of announcing that she was killing the project, she still has not returned the funds to American people.

It was a Speech to Nowhere because Palin also boasted seconds before that other lie of fighting against wasteful earmarks in Congress, even though she pushed for and accepted $27 million of such grants when she was mayor of Wasilla. "

And why are the Republicans bashing community organizers? They constantly talk about how people should do stuff without the government, but when people actually do that, they are made fun of? That makes no sense...

he's saying his experience in a political CAMPAIGN makes him more qualified to run things than someone's political experience in a political OFFICE

^^^ and you're a goddamned fool if you think his couple years as a community organizer when he was fresh out of law school, even remotely describes his experience.

palin was mayor of a tiny hamlet, and then crooked governor of the least populous state.

obama was Illinois State Senator, U Chicago Professor of Constitutional Law, and United States Senator ... all for a combined number of years that doubles Palin's paltry experience. this doesnt even count community organizers.

by his logic there are professors at state that have a shitload more political experience than palin or obama

your problem is simply that you read my last post as something serious and you're completely ignorant to the fact that its a direct response to the completely idiotic post before mine

Tree twister, please explain how this:

Quote :
"Well, my understanding is that Governor Palin’s town of Wasilla has, I think, 50 employees. We’ve got 2,500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe $12 million a year. You know, we have a budget of about three times that just for the month. So I think that our ability to manage large systems and to execute I think has been made clear over the last couple of years,” Obama said."

Is as offensive as this:

Quote :
"Being a mayor is kinda like being a community organizer, except you have responsibility

*riotous laughter from crowd*"

first let me say i dont have a problem with either one

but if you're going to get your womens panties in a bunch over her comments about community organizers, i'd expect you to be equally as pointlessly mad and offended when obama, having no executive experience himself, downplays the role of a mayor and completely leaves out the fact that she's actually governor of a state...with more than "50 employees" and $12mil

He was responding directly to claims that she has more experience than him. He was downplaying this argument by presenting the fact that she was mayor of an extremely small town (one which, we've actually found out now, was run later by an administrator due to Palin being investigated).

If she managed a group of 50 employees, and he managed a group of 2,500, which one managed more?

if she managed 50 employees, and Obama managed 5 employees, which one managed more?

i say this because she "managed" an entire state as governor, not just a city that supposedly has 50 employees, while Obama "managed" a campaign...not even comparable

when you seriously compared being an undergrad TA in PolySci at NC State... to teaching Constitutional Law as a Professor at the University of Chicago School of Law.

yes, of course. let me expound on this with a sober and rational discussion of the finer points of your sublime argument.

look here, sweetheart, the problem that you failed to recognize in your insightful analysis, is that you are a waterhead baby who has significantly diminished capacity for higher logical thought.

This is directly pejorative to community organizations.

Obama was not mocking Palin's job as a mayor, the republicans were mocking community organizers as useless.

edit:

It looks like Obama might have a good opportunity to discuss this with mcCain:
Quote :
"Here's a little bit of delicious irony. It's been pointed out to me tonight that on September 11, Senators McCain and Obama will appear in New York City, participating in a forum for Service Nation. The topic? Community service and volunteerism. "

TreeTwista10, i like John McCain and I can understand why you are are voting for him regardless of VP. I want to know though how does Palin appeal to your political position?? Why do GOP supporters automatically accept Palin w/o question just b.c she's their boy's choice. You can still vote McCain and show your support while thinking his pick for VP is shit.

# Story Highlights
# Democrat VP nominee Joe Biden praised GOP counterpart's speaking skills
# But "I didn't hear the phrase 'middle class,'" health care, college expense
# Biden and Sarah Palin to debate on October 2 in St. Louis, Missouri
# Biden figures Palin will be tough, but he wants to stick to policy issues"

I haven't heard the whole thing, but the clips I've heard sounded well delivered. From what I've heard her speech was very right wing, very divisive, and very forceful. And that is a great speech to rally the base, but not so much for attracting the independent vote. Also by complementing herself as a pitbull & delivering a negative speech in general she's opened the door for Biden to not have to worry about going soft on her in the debates.

While Palin is going divisive to rally the base (instead of talking the middle class or healthcare or anything like that to bring in independents), this is what Obama is saying while he's out retail campaigning in swing states.
