I don't want this to sound rude Lila (Rachel?), but do you wear lots of make-up and want to live your life as your character so that people won't know the real you or what's underneath the facade? 7/21/2009 8:31:26 PM |

Actually, yes. The real Rachel life is boring and mundane. Being Lila is much more fun and exciting, so I chose her over me most of the time. There were always girls I would see and want to be like, so I made one up myself to become.7/21/2009 11:39:36 PM |

don't play that card; you're taking thyroid medicine. you could stop eating entirely and your body would not be capable of winding down your metabolic rate. Dieting will be easier for you than anyone else that isn't taking thyroid medication. they are the ultimate in dieting drugs. 7/22/2009 12:11:13 AM |

3 weeks! your concussion must have been really bad?
i got a concussion once and it was fairly mild. but it still hurt. a lot. my head was in pain for a week or two. the first week it hurt to even wash/brush my hair.
but i was an idiot and probably deserved what i got. whoops. 7/22/2009 1:48:15 AM |

i think so. because you are dizzy/drowsy, vom, and are unconscious (or CAN be).
but maybe if you have a really mild one you can have one without knowing. 7/22/2009 1:53:39 AM |

You can also have a really severe one without knowing since one of the symptoms can be memory loss. You'd probably figure it out eventually though. 7/22/2009 2:49:16 AM |

FAIL
It's been shown in studies that it is physiologically impossible to get normal T3 (the active form) levels with T4 (storage form) only supplementation. Most hypothyroid patients still have symptoms because their doctors are fucking morons that will only rx synthetic T4. So it's much harder for the average thyroid patient to lose weight because they still have low levels of the active form of the hormone. It is only when a doctor will rx T4 and T3 that it becomes almost as easy as it is for everyone else. It's also much harder to RAISE your metabolism with exercise when hypothyroid, creating the biggest problem for thyroid patients. Some of them have literally been kicked out of weight watchers for lying when they were eating 900 calories a day and not losing weight because they had low levels of T3 and couldn't do much of anything to greatly increase their metabolism above baseline no matter what they tried.
Some normal people will take thyroid meds to lose weight, but they are screwing their bodies up badly in the long run and that is completely different from a hypothyroid patient.7/22/2009 3:50:16 AM |

Perhaps instead than being "morons," they're aware that the studies of combination therapy show conflicting results, and recent meta-analyses of those showed no benefit from it.7/22/2009 6:41:28 AM |

I don't think it takes 3 weeks for a concussion to fade. I had a concussion from being beaned in a baseball game and was playing in the next game a few days later. Shit, professional football players are normally only out a week or two at most unless its damn near career ending. And I doubt yours is anywhere close to being that serious. 7/22/2009 7:55:35 AM |

If there is no difference why is it so hard to get a little armour thyroid and see which one works better for that patient?! I've never heard of people saying they preferred T4 to combo therapy. Never. I addition, there are a LOT more voluntary recalls and quality control issues with synthroid than armour. Armour has been recalled once ever, synthroid seems to be recalled at least once a year. It's not hard for me to figure out which one I want to take, but sadly most docs have been brainwashed by big pharma and think the synthetic is better, even though there are far more QC iussues7/22/2009 8:25:35 AM |

it's not different. the thyroid on a healthy individual shuts down so fast when exogenous T3 or T4 enter the system that it's identical to a person with an underactive thyroid. Still, numerous dieters take these drugs to help with weight loss, especially at the competitive level. You'd be hard pressed to find a bodybuilder or figure model that doesn't take them when dieting for a competition.
Nothing you have said negates the fact that supplemental thyroid medication will prevent your metabolic rate from slowing down when you go on calorie restriction.sure, T3 works better because you can go hyper with it, as it's the more active of the two. I've already explained that in great detail about 5 or 6 pages back in this thread a week ago. With that being said, T4 is still a very effective weight loss drug on a calorie restricted diet.7/22/2009 8:49:22 AM |

i keep having migraines and vomiting spells that put me in the ER. they said it's post-concussive syndrome. some people get better soon, some it takes months or even a year according to the doctor.7/22/2009 10:17:41 AM |
