Oh yeah brilliant assessment . The guys makes 8 mill a year and is on pace to have about 32 points. The team won't suffer if he gets benched a little bit.

Look at what happen to Dustin Penner. He got benched last year, and picked up when he started to play again.

Eric Staal hasn't earned an 8 mil contract or the right to be captain of this team. They're just giving it to him. Why should he skate hard when Rutherford will give him money for no reason.

He's making the money of a top caliber player, but he isn't one. He doesn't play with that fire that Ovechkin/Malkin play with. Only part of the time. I bet a benching would have him playing much harder.

Of course, 24 of those minutes came at the same time - 19:20 in the 3rd period on Friday against Colorado. So, other than that, he has 10 minutes through 9 games (counting the game on Saturday night). Not quite the end of the world there...

4 minutes vs Boston Oct 3 - hooking, roughing
4 minutes vs Tampa Oct 6 - interference, hooking
26 minutes vs Colorado Oct 23 - goaltender interference, unsportsmanlike conduct, slashing, misconduct, game misconduct

I had full season tickets in 02-03 and 03-04 and went to all the games, then renewed with the lockout coming up as a sure thing. I had a pair of seats and lived in the dorms so I took quite a few people to their first hockey game, and almost every night had to hear something along the lines of, "Why do they always give up the first goal?" and "Why are they so bad?"

Some more shitty Mo hockey isn't going to keep me away.

The biggest thing I'm worried about now is our shitty D coverage ruining Cam's chance at a spot on the Olympic team.

Two of the goals were scored within 16 seconds of each other, the 5th time this season, (in 11 games), that Carolina has allowed multiple goals in less than a minute.
