Samwise16, sorry, but you are completely wrong on this. Swallow your internet pride for a minute and use both of those brain cells, assuming thinking that much doesn't cause synaptic misfires.

Well honestly if something is against your religion can the government force you to do it?Seems like those pat downs and body scanners are twice as unconstitutional now.1st and 4th Amendments? If I was flying on Wednesday, while it may be embarassing I would totally walk up to the pat down in a swim suit.
11/22/2010 9:55:27 AM
^ as said before, flying is a privilege, not a right. If the security measures are against your religion, don't fly.Do you think all restaurants should remove pork from their menus too?
11/22/2010 9:58:11 AM
But also...as said before there are other ways that are more effective and less invasive ways of security.
11/22/2010 10:01:05 AM
going upstairs is a privilege, not a right. remove all handicap ramps and elevators.clean air is a privilege, not a right. smokers can smoke indoors.privacy is a privilege, not a right. security cameras in the bathrooms.[Edited on November 22, 2010 at 10:02 AM. 11/22/2010 10:02:24 AM
And as it's been said before, some people have no choice but to fly.Well they do have the choice to not fly, but they won't be keeping their job very long because they have trips where they get on a plane in the morning and then return that evening...not possible to do in a car, bus, or train.
11/22/2010 10:06:25 AM
I will be flying tomorrow and now that I know they can see my naughty bits, I am not amused.
11/22/2010 10:07:22 AM
http://www.wral.com/business/story/8665018/Good article on how much the national opt out day has the potential to cause problems. I really hope the head of TSA takes notice.
11/22/2010 10:09:27 AM
the problem is that when we give people certain freedoms, they take advantage of it and ruin it for everyone.
11/22/2010 10:09:36 AM
The thing that bugs me is that, I can either just not fly ever again, or I have to let someone see me pratically naked or let someone feel me up.I haven't done anything wrong. I am not a criminal, I have not been arrested, why should I have to be searched like I am one?
11/22/2010 10:09:39 AM

I can only hope a shit load of people opt out on Wednesday.
11/22/2010 10:16:07 AM
It's like when they ask to see my receipt as I leave Walmart. I always decline and tell them to call the police if they believe I've committed a crime. Then I drop a DX-style "SUCK IT!" on the elderly greeter and continue to my car.
11/22/2010 10:16:24 AM
11/22/2010 10:17:01 AM
The greatest protest would be for every dude to decline the body scan and then concentrate really hard on getting wood during the enhanced pat-down.

http://tinyurl.com/28bkbbuSummary: Please don't make trouble on Wednesday. But I really hope they do.Or how about this horror story: http://www.mybottlesup.com/2009/10/tsa-agents-took-my-son/[Edited on November 22, 2010 at 10:23 AM. Reason : ]
11/22/2010 10:20:44 AM
As long as people are civil when declining the body scan, they should be free to do so. Screw making this guy's job easier if you are concerned about the body scans."Please guys, don't boycott the scanners, I've got a match tonight "
11/22/2010 10:22:55 AM
^yeah seriously, "please just submit to our draconian security measures so everyone can make it home for thanksgiving"
11/22/2010 10:24:48 AM
Why should we care about the backlog anyways? Or delaying people to miss their flights. No one has a right to fly right? If they want to make sure they get home on time, they have the option to drive right? Who cares about long lines if everyone submits to the pat down? Isn't that more secure anyways? /sarcasm.
11/22/2010 10:26:51 AM
Everyone that disagrees with me is a troll.

^^I completely agree. She seems like an overreacting nut-job. BUT if TSA did take her son out of her sight, then that is just flat out wrong and not following the protocols THEY have put in place, and they deserve to lose their jobs. Not enough information out there to know if her story is valid though.[Edited on November 22, 2010 at 10:39 AM. Reason : ^]

^Basket case, yes. Overreacting, absolutely not. I don't have any kids yet, but I can tell you with certainty that if I had a toddler and the TSA demanded to take him somewhere away from me to search him... They wouldn't
11/22/2010 1:05:02 PM
I kind of wonder about the whole "they wouldn't let me take the clip off my kid and rescan" thing. Every time there's been a stray dime or something in my pockets they always say, "Make sure everything is out of your pockets" blah blah blah before I get rescanned.
11/22/2010 1:32:25 PM
^The new "more strict" rules say that if you go off twice, you HAVE to go through a pat down. So that lady went through and they told her to come back without letting her take the pacifier off and since they are trained monkeys with no sense of reason or discretion, they heard two sirens and so made her go through the pat down.[Edited on November 22, 2010 at 1:39 PM. 11/22/2010 1:38:58 PM
That lady sounds like a basketcase, but I wouldn't want some dude to take my kid behind closed doors and dig around his pants either. If they're going to require it then the parent absolutely needs to be there.
11/22/2010 1:39:41 PM
Yay America.Another terrorist attack happens...'where the fuck were the security measures, damn you gov't!'Until then 'what's the deal with these security measures, damn you gov't'I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with backscatter scanners, the general American populace will never be happy though, it'll always be too much or too little.I honestly don't care either way, as long as I can get through security in a reasonable amount of time, I don't care if some guy/girl sees my junk on a computer screen
11/22/2010 1:44:08 PM
it's only because people want everything, except to be inconvenienced.
11/22/2010 1:45:05 PM
Nah--I just want security measures that are EFFECTIVE and don't breach my privacy. This is neither.

People want security, yes. But its at the point where security is too invasive and many people are not comfortable with the measures at all, especially with easy to implement alternatives that would catch terrorists better and faster. What is the limit, full on cavity searches for every single passenger?
