Lol the trolls come out of the woodwork when I lose a bet on a 17 point miracle but silent when I hit 6:1 and 3:1 odds.
And I realize trolling NBA threads is kinda the eman's 'thing' but disguise it a little better man. The heat had three specific players play well this series, so get out of here with that "pick a random player and say he dominated "

But that's all they need. They have two of the top 5 players in the league and an all-star big man.
All they need is for a couple open jumpers to fall and they're good. One game it might be James Jones or one night it might be Chalmers. All Anthony needs to do is defend, get rebounds, and hit the occasional wide open lay-up or dunk. They don't need the "team" like Boston does because Wade/Lebron > Pierce/Allen...and they're younger and more athletic (even more than the first year the Boston trio was together). Although Bosh is a bitch, he's better than Garnett.
Wade and Lebron will both have to lay eggs for them to not win the Championship. I don't see it happening.5/12/2011 9:15:48 AM |

man the people that think jackson isn't a little overrated must be just people who watch baseball, nba, nhl and nothing else, he's def one of the best of all time but to act like his sheer number of titles is beyond anything else is exaggerated
and for people who disagree, just watch what miami is doing this yr, they don't have a ton of chemistry, gameplan or really a complete team and they are still prob going to win the title this yr before they even have their shit sorted out so I think the point is that superstars dominate everything in the nba 5/12/2011 4:25:28 PM |

You mean like the 10 shots he had the other night when they blasted the Grizzlies??
The number of shots for both PGs were a product of the game. Neither one was forced to score to keep up with the other team. Both games were pretty much over by midway through the 3rd quarter and there was no pressure to score.
The only difference in Rose and Westbrook is that Rose doesn't have a Durant on the team that he should be forced to get involved on every play (unless he's on fire).

As a whole, the league is a little bit more competitive. I will also say that those Bulls' teams were perfectly put together. Two scoring threats (Jordan and Pippen), a serviceable 3rd option (Kukoc, sometimes Grant), a competent, good rebounding big man, and a sharp shooter (Hodges, Armstrong, Paxson, Kerr).
And they all played good defense.5/13/2011 10:21:02 AM |

I'm not sure if teams where point guard are taking a certain amount of shots win titles, maybe some historian can call me out on this, I know the 76ers went to the finals with AI taking 35 shots a game, but that was against a garbage east conf, and I think AI was more of a 2 guard, and no way they were going to beat the lakers ever 5/13/2011 5:07:41 PM |
face All American 8503 Posts user info edit post |
It really doesn't matter how many shots someone takes as much as it matters what percentage they hit.
If someone can go 15-30 FG then go for it, but its too common that they go 12-32 and derail their team.
Rose is a very talented player, no doubt. He's not the MVP though. Teague played about as well as Rose did this series and Collison wasn't far behind last series. Two guys no one would confuse for all-stars.
Now Miami doesn't have a competent PG so maybe he'll have a big series finally. 5/13/2011 6:31:20 PM |

I don't think anyone ever envisioned Marc Gasol carrying his team on his back in the 2nd round of the postseason. That Lakers trade doesn't look all that lopsided anymore, which is crazy.
Also, I don't think anyone expected James Harden to be the best player on the Thunder this series to make up for Westbrook being terrible (compared to how he played in the reg season) 5/14/2011 3:15:19 PM |
jbrick83 All American 23447 Posts user info edit post |
Thunder would have gotten blown the fuck out without Westbrook's contributions last night.
With the exception of a few erratic games, he's had an above average playoffs. He just hasn't hit his regular season level yet (but it's not like he's way below it either). I'm hoping (and thinking) that they'll beat the Grizz on Sunday and he'll hit his stride again the Mavs (they'll need him at his best). It would also make my Thunder/Heat prediction look a lot better.
Kidd is too slow and Barea too small to contain Westbrook. I think he'll put up monster numbers against them. 5/14/2011 4:51:21 PM |

trolling? I mean I realize the Pau Gasol trade propelled the Lakers to 3 straight NBA Finals and two championships so it was a great deal for the Lakers to make.
I'm just saying now that Marc Gasol has transformed into an elite center (unless this playoffs is a fluke, b/c he did struggle some during the reg season) the trade isnt the worst thing ever from the Grizzlies perspective.
And Westbrook has been horrible by his standards this series everyone is in agreement on that 43% FG on 21.5 FGA, 30% 3-pt, 4.4 turnovers/game (4.4!!!). Harden has really bailed them out by playing spectacularly.
Here comes the neutron bomb.
Quote : | "WagerType: Date: Team: Risking / To Win Ticket#: STRAIGHT BET May 15 NBA [792] BULLS SERIES +170 500.00 USD / 850.00 USD " |
The Bulls should be the favorites in this series since they have homecourt advantage, are slightly better than Miami heads-up, and they matchup particularly well with Miami.
With Haslem's injury and Spoelstra's stubborn refusal to play Mike Miller the Heat have two virtually unplayable guys on the court at all times in this series. Chicago is just too well rounded and deep for them to afford that. Miami has no one to guard Rose (unless they use Wade) and no one that can counteract an elite center like Noah.
If Boozer can shake off his rust a little bit he can neutralize Bosh enough for that to be a wash.
I'm praying the Bulls are smart enough to play Ronnie Brewer and they banish Korver to the bench permanently in this series because that makes them much better and they need his defense on Wade/Lebron.
Hoping Deng doesn't shit the bed this series, he isn't going to score a lot but I don't need him shooting sub 40% and wilting under the Lebron pressure.
Gibson & Asik should be able to really take advantage of Miami having no competent big men.
The Bulls should win this series about 64% of the time and getting +170 makes the bet a no brainer.
Bulls in 7 is the most likely result but it's very closely followed by Bulls in 5 and Bulls in 6 since the teams are pretty evenly matched.
