Yea, I see your point. However, at the same time, there is an endless amount of activities and conditions that can be lumped in that same argument. Eating disorders wreak havoc on your body and health condition but we wont give them hell for it because they may APPEAR to be healthy?

I came across an article once where some private Flordia OB-GYN offices put a weight limit on the patients they would accept. Obese patients were found to have a ton of complications from medicines and treatments and were generally more difficult to treat, plus they had diseases and conditions resulting from being so fat. The doctors refused to see these patients because more often than not they carried a higher risk of malpractice suits and expenses from complicated treatment plans, requiring more expensive insurance...resulting in higher payments from all patients.

I'm sure this translates to typical docs as well, though they don't refuse obese patients. If you want I can dig up the article, shouldn't be too hard

i have a friend who had a massive stroke at 22...

she was severely obese and had high blood pressure because of it...

she was the one the birth control commercial talks about when it says "side effects may include stroke"

There are very few disorders that cause obesity with a single gene change (or a chromosomal problem). Obesity is multifactorial.

As far as obesity and cancer, it's not that obesity causes cancer but that there's an underlying factor contributing to both whether it be something they're ingesting or a genetic predisposition, etc.
