I've read it's about 30 hours, and that seems about right. I've plated almost exactly 13 hours per character, but I did do probably about 25% dicking around. So 30 hours on the main story seems about right.

The credits are 45 minutes long.

Why do all the redneck californians have southern accents? I haven't been to rural california but it seems unlikely they would sound like that.

I'm a bit disappointed at how little you can interact with the buildings. Yeah, it all looks great, but what's the use of a recreation of the Hollywood Bowl or a stadium if you can't even do anything with them. GTA4 had a lot more stuff to do IN the buildings, even if it was just running through them to avoid the po-po. Call me crazy

Just a heads up, unless I'm missing something, cars that you order off the website do not respawn in your garage when you leave them/blow them up, as I think someone mentioned on a previous page. I just ordered the JB 700 as Franklin and beside the fact that none of the guns/gadgets actually work on it, it also doesn't appear to come back after I dropped a grenade underneath it to see if it would respawn (I saved it first). I don't know what you have to do to make a car show up as a special vehicle, but so far I only have the Elegy, which is what came with the garage I guess, cause I don't know where it came from otherwise.

Edit: Apparently the Elegy is a reward for linking your account to the online thingie. And it looks like you can recover bought cars from the impound lot, but only once unless you save it in your garage again.

How the fuck do you make money in this game besides playing the stupid missions.

How do you regenerate health

How the fuck are you supposed to see the damn white cross hairs in a gun fight.

I played this shit for less than an hour and im already bored to tears with this shit.

I totally agree w/ the crosshairs. The white dot gets lost far too easily. But, it seems you can change it if you want by going to the options. As for health, you can get the health packs that are randomly placed around the map or you can just buy a can of soda from a vending machine. You can usually find those machines at AmmuNation or a gas station.

I don't have this game yet, I'm gonna get it this week, but is health regeneration not pretty similar to other GTA game? If you go to a house or safe house and save the game, doesn't that regenerate your health fully? And I'm assuming there are restaurants where you can eat?

It's not like it was in the past. It regenerates to 50% after about 10 seconds of not taking damage, and only restores to 100% if you eat something or grab a health pack, or I think sleep.

[Edited on September 21, 2013 at 11:37 PM. Reason : well, I guess it's exactly like it was in the past except for the 50% regen thing.]

I still have Franklin as the only playable character. I'm guessing I'm not too far in the game. I spent a while exploring. I don't like how the map doesn't appear until you have explored that area. I wish I knew what all was out there without having to do my own exploring. I drove all the way out to the bay and stole a jet ski and a 4-wheeler. Then I got too lazy to drive back to the city so I called a cab. Cost me $240 bucks to get back to the city!

I just did a mission with Lamar where I had to drive a van and chase some guy on the back of a bike. I must be absolutely horrible at this game b/c I suck at shooting while driving. The guy ended up getting hit by a bus and then I chased him with the dog. The dog was supposed to sniff him out but ended up humping another dog.
We ended up catching the guy but then we let him go. Something tells me I was supposed to kill that guy but I got the "pity" ending instead.

Also, where can I get a plane? I tried going into the fort but immediately got a 4-star level and got blown up by a tank.

That doesn't sound right. Maybe the cabs get cheaper as you level up or something, but I didn't start using cabs until further along in the game and it usually ended up being less than $50 for me to go from the city to the upper part of the map, and that was using the fast travel, which costs more.

You can get at least 3 different types of planes by going down to the airport in the south part of the city. You will get 3 stars when you go past the hangars, but you can fly away quite easily. And if you want the fighter jet, there's a military base along the eastern coast, about 2/3rds of the way up the map. That one's a bit trickier to steal though as you'll have the army trying their best to stop you. The best way I've found to get it is to go through the main gate, take an immediate right, and then a left and there's a hangar right in front of you that has one of the jets in it and will provide some cover for you while you're breaking in.

Or you'll have access to a helicopter and a plane after you complete the first or second mission with Trevor.

^sure but it can take 10-15 minutes to drive across town

early on i took a bike and rode down the train tracks, great way to get top speed w/out worrying about traffic or tight turns

also, is there anyway to know you are actually progressing a skill, or see where your skill is at, unless you get a level up notification? I know you are supposed to up driving skill by doing certain things but i have no idea what.

Any time you actually have to call somebody, it will tell you to call them. Otherwise it will automatically call them for you. You never need to call someone to trigger a mission that I can remember.

Quote :

To be honest, I'd say don't ever get the cheap any guy on any heists. Most of the time I ended up losing money if I picked sub-par people. Picking the 2nd best driver on the last mission lost me 45 million dollars. Even though I picked the 1st best driver for a different part of the heist, so technically he was the best option I had left.

Also, I'd suggest saving the Lester/Franklin assassination missions until after you beat the game if you can. There are ways of making loads of money with those in the stock market but only if you have a good base of money to start off with.

Can someone explain the garages to me?

Michael and Franklin each have a single car garage at their homes. Then each has a separate multi-car garage that stores "common" cars. basically anything you put in those garages can be accessed by any character. is that what i'm seeing?

Then each character has their own "personal" cars. Franklin's white car and Michael's black sedan. These never need to be put in the garage correct?

and what's the deal with the impound lot?

I've only done one heist so far, and I went with the best driver, worst gunman, and the hacker you met on a previous mission.

But I also chose the stealthy way, so there wasn't a need to shoot anyone. Was in and out, though the window was fairly small, but made 3+ million(Michael's take was just over $900,000).

I don't think I'm super far in the game, but after a couple of nice stock plays by Franklin, both he and Michael have about a million in the bank and Trevor isn't super high but has some money.

But I've only bought one building so far(Trevor), so I'm sure once I started spending some money it'll go down, just hoping some more heists come up.

Franklin also gets the green bike from about the 2nd mission or so. That ends up being his main vehicle that he starts with 90% of the time. And Trevor has the rusted out red truck. FYI, you can mod those vehicles and they stay modded throughout the entire game. And since you end up using them quite a bit, it's probably a good investment to add at least a turbo and bulletproof tires. Although, I will say about halfway through the game, Trevor's truck did reset back to stock for me.

The impound lot is (I think) a place where the cars that you store in your personal garages go after you wreck/leave them. I haven't personally tried every scenario, but I read on another forum that's how it worked. They said that it only works once per time you save a car. So like, if you put a car in your garage and save it, then go out and trash it/start a mission and don't get to take it back, it will go to the impound lot. You can then go and get it back, but supposedly if you take it and lose it again, it won't go to the impound lot a 2nd time. But if you take it back and save it, then the impound lot gets reset again. But again, that's only what I read, so it could be wrong. It did work for me the one time I tried it, but I didn't mess with it any further.

Just did the first heist. Used the cheapest guys in everything. The gunman died but I picked up his cut because I was driving behind him. Michaels cut was like 1.2 mil I think...or something close. Good stuff

BTW, the stock stuff doesn't really make sense to me. I've barely dabbled with it, but how do you know what to put money into? When does it update? etc?
