if (when) we don't get the #1 pick, who do we draft? Thomas Robinson? MKG? Somebody else? 4/3/2012 12:36:40 AM |

If they aren't able to draft davis, I say the next best thing is definitely Robinson. That dude is monstrously athletic and just built for the NBA 4/3/2012 9:35:19 AM |

Worst we can have is 4th, so I think one of Robinson, MKG, or Drummond. I know Drummond underperformed, but his size/athleticism combo is rare enough to take a flier on. 4/3/2012 9:36:57 AM |

I will be shocked if the Bobcats actually win the lottery. Just a hunch that the Nets will win it (they traded the pick to portland, but it is top 3 protected this year). 4/3/2012 10:14:53 AM |

if they get top 3 i think they'll be fine. i would be ok with MKG or Robinson, but would obviously prefer to have Davis. the 4th pick gets a little iffy, like drafting Drummond based on his ceiling. i don't know that the Bobcats need any more big men who don't pan out. 4/3/2012 10:39:18 AM |

Honestly, if we're at #4, I'd rather draft Harrison Barnes than Drummond ... as dumb as it sounds. Drummond seems too similar to Bismack to me and doesn't seem to give a shit out there. At least Barnes can score.
I still think Moultrie from Miss St is hugely underrated in this draft. Wouldn't be upset with him in the least 4/3/2012 11:00:29 AM |

i feel like instead of moving the Checkers' playoff games (if they make it) to Raleigh because of the Bobcats' schedule they should let the post-season team have the arena and send the Bobcats over to JC Smith gym for the rest of the season. 4/10/2012 9:26:32 AM |

Cartier Martin is a stud though. No shame in letting him torch you Bobcats.
Honestly if you work for the Bobcats, like in marketing or accounting, do you even tell people that they are your employer. If I had a job with them, I'd probably tell people that I am an importer/exporter. 4/10/2012 10:06:17 AM |

My buddy works for them selling tickets. He is in outside sales, which is currently salary+commission, but will move into straight commission starting at the beginning of July 2010. He has been in this position since July 2009. So far this year he's sold maybe a few dozen season tickets; most of them are 8-20 game packages for marquee teams. He doesn't sell to Bobcats fans as much as to fans of the other teams. He also drives a '98 Camry and has an ugly girlfriend. I do not envy him. 4/10/2012 10:26:01 AM |

i could certainly help.
There's a ton of guys toiling away on benches that could help this franchise...
Guys like Lavoy Allen, the Birdman, Goran Dragic (before the injury to Lowry),
Guys we got rid of having good seasons like Dominic McGuire and Dante Cunningham. Guys we didn't even bother picking up as a free agent like Jeremy Lin or Danny Green or Reggie Evans.
Guys we stupidly didn't draft like Kawhi Leonard and Kenneth Faried blowing up in their rookie season.
Guys we stupidly traded away now becoming stars like Brandan Wright.
Guys we stupidly traded away that were still studs like Tyson Chandler and Gerald Wallace.
Instead we drafted guys who suck like Kemba, Gerald Henderson. Traded for guys who suck like Corey Maggette and Matt Carroll and Desagna Diop and Eduardo Najera. We signed guys who quit trying like Tyrus Thomas. Instead of taking on a D-league with a high ceiling we employ our own GM's SON as our 12th man. And he actually gets playing time. Are you kidding me???
The only three things we've done worth a shit were draft Biyombo and sign Derrick Brown and Reggie Williams.
And to top it all off we didn't draft Chris Paul who you could argue is the MVP of the NBA this season (okay, he's 2nd to Lebron but those two are by far the best players in the league right now)
Is it too much to ask to do anything right?
So yes, we'd be a far better team if I was the GM. We'd probably be a better team if my mom was the GM.

I keep hearing about their run for the worst winning percentage of all time but I never hear mention of who currently holds that record. Who is it?
I'm assuming that it was a team that played more games during their season as well. Maybe that assumption is incorrect. If that's the case the other team lost more which seems worse. Exaggerating the point a bit but they could just shorten the season to 3 games, some team would go 0 and 3, and they'd hold the "worst" record.
All that said, ^ speaks volumes. They aren't just losing by a point or two, they're getting blown out. 4/24/2012 7:35:26 AM |

1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers finished 9-73 (.110 winning percentage). The Bobcats currently have a lower winning percentage (.109), but a win in the next two games would push it to 0.121.4/24/2012 8:36:43 AM |

Quote : | " Ashton Grewal of covers.com writes that the Bobcats are on the verge of setting record for futility of covering the betting spread.
In the past 18 games (all losses) the team is 4-14 against the spread. The team has lost all three games they were favored in this season. The have lost nine games by 30 or more points and 21 games by 20 or more points.
Writes Grewal:
The 'Cats are in danger of finishing with the lowest winning percentage against the spread in recent history. Entering Friday's slate, Charlotte is 21-40 against the number, which means they cover the spread .343 percent of the time.
Covers.com's records go back as far as the 1990-91 season and only two teams covered at a lower clip: the 2003-04 Orlando Magic (.333) and the 2001-02 New York Knicks (.333).
"This is my 14th (NBA) season in Las Vegas," professional handicapper and Covers Expert Ted Sevransky said, "and I have never seen a team as bad as the Bobcats."
Grewal asked Cal Neva oddsmaker Chris Andrews how you make a point spread on the Bobcats enticing enough for gamblers.
"It really is a challenge," Andrews said. "In this business, the wiseguys can always find a reason to back the dog. You know, a regression to the mean. But we're just not seeing that with this team." " |
