1) How the fuck are we suppose to know he's in a wheel chair?

2) What Slave said. And if you're disabled, I'd rather dress comfortable than douchey. I'd try to pull off a Hefner and wear nice robes or just comfortable pajamas.

the fact that he's disabled is supposed to make you feel slightly shitty

the fact that he's Serbian is supposed to be a free pass for dressing different than your average Carolinian

Why does a guy in a wheelchair live in Denver anyway? Seems like he'd be better off somewhere flat.

Stats are good for a large amount of games when you don't have time to watch all of the games. If I need to know if a guy is a knock down 3pt shooter, I can look at his % and get a good idea if he can shoot it or not.

Anyone that knows basketball or has played knows thats not the whole story. It would be much better to have seen all of the games and know if the player is shooting at the line or deep, wide open or off the dribble, with closeout, or a complete set shot.

Its also useful to know that a shot made with 1 minute left in a 30 point game is not the same as a shot made in a close game. Stats don't tell any of that.

Stats treat everything the same. Stats are useful but will never be as good as actually watching a game . Actually, for just one game, stats are pretty bad way to analyze how the game went. Stats must have a large sample size to mean anything.

In the nba stats basically tell the whole story.

Won $200 on Lebron winning mvp. Took him at -180 right before durant exploded and nearly stole it from him

thats kind of a dumb argument though, cause the MVP award doesn't always go to the player with the best stats

theres tons of human bias in awarding the MVP

And really, the stats will HELP you in the playoffs but they certainly aren't as useful as over a 82 game season. The smaller the sample, the less important they are.

Lebron can be the best player, by a large margin, over 82 games (or 66) and then play grabass with Mike Miller in the corner when when the finals roll around while another subpar player like Dirk steps up and wins games.

Quote :
"James is winning the award for the third time in four seasons. Only seven other players -- Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Moses Malone -- have at least three MVP trophies."

That's lofty company. I wonder what all those players have that Lebron doesn't yet?

My two statements above weren't meant to be related.

Anyway the 76ers, celtics series is obviously pretty dead even so ill say celtics in 7, but it
could go either way.

76ers are +175 though so obviously I've gotta roll with them again. I'll go heat in 5 over Indiana.

If the nuggets upset the lakers they'll be huge dogs I bet to Okc so ill take the nugs, but if the lakers win they'll get way too much respect and ill bet a neutron bomb on Okc

Bill Russell could give LeBron James 5 of his championship rings, and he still wouldn't be in the top half of that list in total rings.

without checking my math, maybe 3 or 4 rings

Moses had 1, Wilt had 2, everybody else had at least 3, but iirc only Jordan and Russell had 6 or more

Wow, the Clips totally gave up last night as if to say "we dont give a fuck". Basically the only one on this team right now that acts like he knows how to win a playoff series is Caron Butler.

But again, it is good to see that the Big Black Dirk is catching stride.

George Karl s madness knows no bounds

Playing mozgov over koufos and birdman all series is just baffling. Big surprise mozgov is having a total meltdown in game 7.

Offensive goaltending on a shot that's going in, giving up and ones, can't rebound, can't box out. That guy is terrible.

At least gallinari is bricking everything again

you might've missed the memo, but Birdman can't play...like, he's not allowed to play because he's under legal investigation for child porn

the fact that the Nuggets have even forced a game 7 is a credit to George Karl, and i'm not one to casually give compliments to UNC alumni

George Karl's WP/66 this year is 38.00...thats better than the league average of 33.00

Why can't he play? I've seen some random girl made allegations but its not proven...

Even if he can't play Fine. Play koufos . Play manimal with three fouls. Play Lawson with miller. Whatever you do no more mozgov or harrington

ok, after reading another story, maybe some 16 year old chick claiming she was 21 emailed/texted him scantily clad photos, which technically could qualify as child porn or something

i guess its not as bad as it initially sounded

but i know his absence in Game 6 at least was because of the investigation, can't blame the coach for not playing somebody who wasn't eligible

I love when Denver goes small.

Miller is a great rebounder and mcgee can contest every shot. Plus it gives them two options to start the break. Keep this lineup in and just try to run the lakers.

It might be too late but that's their best chance to win now

(Lawson is a straight assassin)

Like clockwork Karl puts harrington in to end the nuggets run

while i'm slobbing Karl, a UNC guy, for taking this much less talented team to a game 7 against a superior Lakers team, i might as well give Steve Blake props for being a better NBA player than i ever thought

also that little floater by Blake was CLEARLY on its way down and shouldve been goaltending

edit:

rewinded it, it was BARELY on its way down, tough to see in real time i guess

Blake + peace are on fire. Wish they would guard them.

Refs are giving lakers home cooking already. Just gotta hope they continue to sit gallinari.

Kobe will get 1-2 ridiculous calls down the stretch so we gotta execute here to overcome

Kobe was so fortunate to have Bynum and Gasol play like complete dogshit in Game 6

its funny how WP48 is supposedly such a sound method of bball evaluation, yet Dave Berri and you have such personal vendettas against players like Kobe

how do you claim no bias when the blogger who writes your sports bible has a personal agenda against certain players? oh well

he probably thought Theo Ratliff was better than Iverson the year the 76ers met the Lakers in the Finals (01?)

No vendetta. I was a Kobe + iverson supporter until a few years ago when I realized how incorrect I was.

Can't really compare the two though, Kobe was a good player at one point iverson never really was ....

I'm about to drop a neutron on Okc, I hope they release an early line tonight.

not starting center Dikembe Mutombo, but BACKUP CENTER THEO RATLIFF?

even Berri might disagree with that

Kobe had an amazing series even with the flu and altitude. Jordanesque in games 5 and 6. Milked Steve Blake for the win as they double teamed him all night. That wasn't blake covering up Kobe's flaws.

Any one who watched the game knows Kobe was retardedly doubled all night long leaving blake wide open to make shots I could make.

Sometimes Kobe doesn't have to play well to win the game. This was an example of Kobe's greatness winning the game before he even stepped on the floor. Gasol had a good game but half of those rebounds were on one play where he couldn't make an open layup against 6'8 defender.

I'm also curious as to why you see other players play with great players and think they are great but when Kobe has teammates playing well it means they are "covering up his flaws"

[Edited on May 13, 2012 at 1:32 AM. Reason : so bias]

If you are expressing a personal opinion, then my answer is "I don't know."

If you mean that things look broken or disjointed or like they are in places that they do not belong, then the answer is "Because you are using a web browser that's older than dirt." You know how 1 human year equates to 7 dog years? Well, one human year equates to about 25 browser years. A LOT has happened since Internet Explorer 7, let me tell you. You might want to join us in 2012! I could try to install a ton of compatibility code to make this site look decent in old browsers, but frankly, I don't have the time. Besides, mine is probably not the only site that looks bad for you."

Dave Berri blames his shitty website on old browsers and old wives tales...seems credible to base all my opinions on

i'm sure the soon-to-be-revised WP/48 will involve "dog years", since, hey, thats math, and numbers can't be manipulated

Look the Heat - Pacers series is just as evenly matched as the Thunder - Lakers are.

There are only three teams in the league who can win the title and the Lakers are not one of them.

Spurs, heat, thunder. Every other series is just entertainment.

I'll take thunder in 5 but I wouldn't be shocked if they sweep.
