I know that I would like to murder children in 2, maybe 3, ways and will cast my vote accordingly.

Romney Campaign Concedes Obama is Ahead
President Obama "heads out of the national political conventions with a much clearer path to winning, top advisers to Mitt Romney privately concede," Politico reports.

"The Romney campaign, while pleasantly surprised by Obama's lackluster prime-time performance, said the post-convention bounce they hoped for fell well short of expectations and privately lament that state-by-state polling numbers -- most glaringly in Ohio -- are working in the president's favor."

"

Come on people. It's soooo easy to see that the script calls for a Obama win.

That's the same face he basically always makes.

Smirk implies emotion, and it's pretty common knowledge he's a robot.

i always thought a smirk was a condescending smile, similar to a sneer, and a silent version of a snicker.

it turns out i've been completely wrong this whole time

Romney generally makes that smile when he is nervous... he is not that comfortable in most settings, IMO.

Anyway... the two party system is blah... and they love to make sensationalistic claims that aren't true.

I'd rather vote Gary Johnson or not vote for any of the candidates this year.

GWB didnt smirk, he snickered AT HIMSELF when he managed to fumble his way through a sentence without any errors.

Or at least less errors than usual.

The bizarre thing about Romney is that of the "viable" candidates in the GOP primary, he was the LEAST scary (Bachmann, Cain, Gingrich).

^ so what are you saying? If he loses, will they go with someone really nutty?

I think Romney deep down is very centrist, with even some progressive beliefs. He just seems terrified to let any inkling of this leak out.

note that I used the past tense-- just saying that the GOP isn't exactly a league of champions when he's the best they have.

I don't think Romney's personal beliefs really matter. I have no reason to believe that he would do anything that wasn't in line with the party. If he were to be elected, his actions would be to satisfy the interests of those that helped get him there.

^mah, what ever. Nice propaganda. Damned if he does damned if he doesn't. I'm glad he has the courage to take a stand and not lead from behind.

ANYWAY....
Got this from a friend and though it appropriate.

Quote :
"FROM A FRIEND...
Okay so I’m jumping on the bandwagon and going to voice some of my political views here on FB from time to time. Pretty sure I earned that right after 22 years in the Air Force.

First off, I may be registered on the right simply because I agree more with what they stand for, but not always. I vote for those whom I feel is best for the job, no matter what their party affiliation. And when I d
o vote, you bet your ass I have done my research, and it always comes down to a lesser of two evils ?. So for future reference:
1. If you are a republican who votes the party line and has your mind made up already – don’t read my posts
2. If you are a democrat who votes the party line and has your mind made up already – don’t read my posts
3. If you can read this, I consider you a friend and have most have are mature or well educated. If you want to disagree and still be my friend – great, but if you are so strongly set in your ways and can’t read an opinion opposite of yours without taking offense – don’t read my posts.
4. If you are undecided, or don’t like either candidates and are planning on sitting back and not voting – then please READ my posts.

Ground rules set – you’ll be hearing more from me soon.

Note one, day one: – don’t pay one f’ing iota of attention to any
political ad on TV or radio, even if it says “I approve this f’ing message”. They are all full of non truths meant to scare you through fear mongering. Just like all the infomercials that make outrageous claims that will remove spots from your carpet/drapes/dogs coat/and remove age spots from your aunt's old fat ass. It’s all bullshit! Both sides do it, and none of it is actually true. Just bent and twisted hearsay to scare you into the arms of another.

Political post #2:
As a reminder, 1. If you are a republican who votes the party line and has your mind made up already – don’t read my posts
2. If you are a democrat who votes the party line and has your mind made up already – don’t read my posts
3. If you can read this, I consider you a friend and most are mature or well educated. If you want to disagree and still be my friend – great, but if
you are so strongly set in your ways and can’t read an opinion opposite of yours without taking offense – don’t read my posts.
4. If you are undecided, or don’t like either candidates and are planning on sitting back and not voting – then please READ my posts.

Here it goes: If you are not planning on voting, or are not registered to vote – BULLSHIT, get off your ass!

1. If you are over 18 and are not registered, go do it. I’ve been to 38 countries around the world, and yeah some things about this country suck, but you have no clue how good you have it here! The most basic freedom of speech you have is the right to vote. And if you think we are in trouble in this country and sitting back letting other people decide its fate is the best thing to do, rethink that! That is what got us in trouble this last time. You have less than 2 months to make a difference, so get off your ass and get registered.
2. If you are not planning on voting because you don’t like either candidate, then let me put it to you this way. Stop watching the ads on TV and do some f’ing research on the past voting records (not what they say) and pick the candidates you can feel will have your best future interest. As in paragraph 1, you have a right not many others do, so use it. If you are not happy with what the guy in office has done the past 4 years, then change it. You already know his agenda, and just because you don’t really know the other guy, doesn’t mean you should sit on your ass and not vote.

Bottom line here is you have a right and a duty as an American to pick your leadership. Please take the time and exercise that right. There is a lot at stake here, we are in a critical time in history, and your voting can make a difference.

Political note #3:

Preamble of notes 1 & 2 still apply.

While the media focuses on the presidential race, there are congressional seats up for elections in many states as well. Knowing there are checks and balances in the highest level of government that, when the rules are followed, keep the person in the highest office of power (the president) from being a dictator. Please pay attention to the other elections if it applies to your state or area. Do your research and vote for the candidate that has your best interest at heart for you and your family. Remember as stated in notes one and 2: Don’t listen to ads, do your own research, and get out and vote."

Yes, I know its a lot of words. Poor you.

I don't hate Romney but even if you love him it's ok to say he fucked up here. He spoke before having the facts. You simply can't do that on this stage. It's a campaign mistake, likely by an overzealous advisor, and nothing more -- it's not an indictment on how he'd run the country.

^^ Can you please not use the "I know it's a lot of words" insult when it starts with "Okay so.."

I can dig the condensation toward anti-intellectualism. The problem is that it doesn't work when neither you nor your material is intelligent to begin with.

Some people may be angry he is politicizing and they are likely hypocritical.

Most, however, are just questioning why his campaign staff would let him criticize without having the facts. Let's face it, besides GOLO posters, the consensus is that he jumped the gun and criticized Obama on something that he didn't do/say.

I don't care what political party he is with, he can go eat shit.

Romney is a dickhead and should keep his fucking mouth shut about anything to do with a government establishment he has dickshit to do with (the State Dept).

Cocksucker.

Again, I don't care about political party or whatever.

Protestors were outside the gates of the Cairo embassy and things seemed to be getting out of hand. Embassy staff released a statement (which wasn't approved by the White House for what it's worth) in an attempt to defuse the situation as it was becoming clear that their lives could be in danger. I'm not sure if anyone had been injured or killed at this point in Benghazi and if they were I'm not sure they knew about it in Cairo.

Quote :
"The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others."

So, in summary

a) The statement was not released by the President
b) The statement was an attempt to diffuse the situation
c) The statement is not apologizing for anything

Despite this, Mitt Romney said:

Quote :
"It’s disgraceful that the Obama Administration’s first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks."

GOP chairman Priebus said on Twitter:

Quote :
"Obama sympathizes with attackers in Egypt. Sad and pathetic."

"How serious,” asked host Joe Scarborough, “was the mistake he made yesterday, attacking Barack Obama based on faulty information the same day we find out that the first U.S. ambassador since 1979 is murdered overseas?”

“Look, I think it was a big mistake,” said Schmidt. “I think it was a very serious mistake. And it was because we’re at the point of the campaign now where these impressions start to harden into concrete. People are evaluating now on a daily basis who has what it takes to be the next president in a challenging time. Who has the right temperament? Who has the right character? And he fell short on that with that statement.”

Mika Brzezinski admitted to cringing over the idea that Romney has “now put himself in a box with someone who has absolutely no discipline” — that someone being Sarah Palin."

So the embassy people who released that original statement are probably now dead. Is that right?
And the Romney camp still doesn't see any problem with the press conference he held to condemn it?
Because they were being too soft. Before the mob of angry protestors killed them.

Well that's just lovely.
