i dont use projections for lineup decisions i play matchups.
The projections are for aiding me with the draft.
When I say I "have" someone or something at ______ . Yes i didn't do all the legwork myself. I'm simply telling you what I'm using for their projection. Sometimes I've modified it based on what I think will happen, sometimes I've taken straight sauce from someone.
I don't have time to spend 80 hours a week doing research. My job is to read lots of people's research and then use what I think is the best. 9/6/2012 2:23:29 PM |

I need help with scoring in our league. We are finally instituting bonus points. Do you think these bonuses are adequate? too much? too little? thanks
Passing Yards: 3 points at 300 yards; 4 points at 400 yards; 7 points at 500 yards
Receiving Yards: 2 points at 100 yards; 3 points at 200 yards; 6 points at 300 yards
Rushing Yards: 3 points at 100 yards; 4 points at 150 yards; 5 points at 200 yards 9/6/2012 3:05:49 PM |

im not a big fan of bonus points just because you are already getting more points for having more yardage... the bonus seems to make it excessive.
That being said i think the bonuses are a little high. 3 points for 300 passing, 100 rush/rec is pretty standard for leagues that do this 9/6/2012 3:08:26 PM |

I disregard leagues with yardage bonuses. Its a flawed concept to reward arbitrary statistical thresholds beyond the points already accrued from the yardage. 100 yards is better than 90 yards, but 10% better, not 50% better. 9/6/2012 3:11:51 PM |

lineup question this week - (default scoring, non PPR league 12 teams)
Marshawn Lynch or DeAngelo Williams
there are reports that Lynch may not play due to lingering back issues, and Stewart might be out as well, upping William's workload. I'm a FF novice and I didn't pay attention to anything last season during my last year of grad school... any insight? 9/6/2012 4:02:55 PM |

Cutler.
Shanahan is going to put the clamps on RGIII in the beginning...if not the whole season. You won't see any Cam type numbers out of him. 9/6/2012 4:09:03 PM |

initially I would say the more proven commodity, Cutler, but their O-Line is SO bad... assuming Freeney is healthy that could be rough... Also, Indy could be down big and the Bears could be running a lot starting in the 3rd quarter...
I think I would go Cutler though mainly because its RGIII's first real game
also, for those of you with AP:
Quote : | "NathanZegura: ESPN 1500's Tom Pelissero reports that AP will take between 5-10 touches in Week 1 and that he will be on a limited play count if he goes" |
odd statement, seems to contradict itself, but either way, he isnt going full time
hey now, Nathan Zegura, who is usually pretty good posted this:
Quote : | "Robert Griffin III, QB, Redskins (at NO) Current own/start %: 94/25 I'd start him over: Peyton Manning (vs. PIT), Ben Roethlisberger (at DEN), Jay Cutler (vs. IND) The Redskins are not wasting any time starting their start rookie quarterback and neither should you. RG3 starts the season off with a great matchup against the Saints, who allowed 21.67 points per game to opposing quarterbacks in 2011, second most in the league. Including the playoffs, seven of the last nine quarterbacks who have faced the Saints have produced at least 20 points. During that span, opposing quarterbacks are averaging 320.7 yards passing and 2.1 total touchdowns per game, while producing a very healthy average of 24.6 points per game. With Pierre Garcon, Fred Davis and a bevy of weapons at his disposal, look for RG3 to light up the scoreboard in his NFL debut against a Saints defense that has been in disarray all offseason. In their last two preseason games, the Saints' starters allowed Blaine Gabbert and Matt Schaub to complete a combined 28 of 34 passes for 306 yards and three scores. In other words, this is looking like an ideal matchup for RG3 and I am expecting over 300 yards with a couple of scores in what should be a very impressive debut.
Other QBs with favorable matchups: Jake Locker (vs. NE), Philip Rivers (at OAK), Alex Smith (at GB), Sam Bradford (at DET)
Jay Cutler, QB, Bears (vs. IND) Current own/start %: 96/34 I'd rather start: Jake Locker (vs. NE), Philip Rivers (at OAK), Matt Schaub (vs. MIA) I think Cutler is going to have a great 2012 season, but I think he could do a lot of handing off in the season opener against the Colts. That's why I'd rather have a higher upside option in my lineup for the season opener. After all, the Colts have allowed only one quarterback to hit the 20-point mark against them in their last seven games because teams can just run the ball in on this defense. In 2011, the Colts allowed multiple passing touchdowns in just five games, which is not too surprising since they allowed 19 rushing scores, second most in the league. I am expecting both Matt Forte and Michael Bush to have solid games in Week 1, so while Cutler will play well against the Colts, I do not think the odds favor a 20-point game from him. It is a passing league and Cutler will have to air it out in some games this year, but I just do not think this will be one of them.
Other QBs with tough matchups: Andrew Luck (at CHI), Andy Dalton (at BAL), Ryan Fitzpatrick (at NYJ), Peyton Manning (vs. PIT)" |

total no brainer.
TE's are being so overrated this year it's ridiculous. There is so much depth at that position that other than Gronk/Graham and to an extent Hernandez there are like 10-15 guys who are almost interchangeable.
Graham is still has like a $30 value in most leagues, but McCoy is more like $50-$60 in most formats.
You can grab a waiver TE like Kyle Rudolph and still walk away with 60-70% of Graham's production. 9/6/2012 10:11:05 PM |

RGIII should finish as a top 10-12 fantasy QB.
Cutler is a borderline top 20 fantasy QB.
RGIII may have like 200 less passing yards, 2-3 less passing td's, and 2-3 more INT's.
But his 500-600 rushing yards and 4-6 rushing TD's will easily offset that.
RGIII is almost certainly a better fantasy option this season and he has a very favorable matchup in week 1. Of course anything can happen from game to game but I think it's a clear RGIII start. Cutler is not a good fantasy QB.

For the season, it'll depend on which QB stays healthy. Cutler didn't make it a full season last year, and I think RGIII is going to be very Vick-like his first season. Think he's going to run more than he should, and likely take more/bigger hits than he did in college. He isn't as thick as Cam, odds of him missing 2-3 games are somewhat high.
I loved RGIII's game in college. But I also liked Reggie Bush and Vince Young's game in college too. Need to see him in a meaningful NFL game before I go anointing him a top 10 fantasy QB. Week 1 I like proven commodities, so I'd go Cutler over RGIII and let RGIII play his way into my starting line-up. 9/7/2012 7:39:24 AM |

^^^^^^^ Bowe, go with the #1 WR especially if you are in a PPR. Smith will make his hay on a few big catches if he does have a big day. Bowe is the safer bet.
^^^^ I like Martin, but I'd play it safe and go with the proven commodity in Gore. There is no telling what the split will be between Gerhart and AP. Plus GB games always turn into shootouts, expect at least 75 and a TD from Gore.
^ Both aren't bad starts. RGIII will throw a pick or two but he also has a higher upside than JAX. Go with the Vikings.

How about this:
Harvin (@Jac) vs Nate Washington (NE) vs Torrey Smith (Cin)
I'm starting Harvin now, but Washington going up against the 32nd ranked NE defense is rustling my jimmies 9/7/2012 6:59:53 PM |
Slave Famous Become Wrath 34079 Posts user info edit post |
Peter, Harvin is a stud, pretty much an every week play against even a stout defense, which I would argue vehemently Jacksonville is not. He's your guy.
I'd put Smith above Washington. Last year's rankings mean very little, especially since they're starting Locker, who's number one flaw by far is his accuracy. He's not a special talent; he just got 1000 yards year by default since he was their #1 once Britt went out. He'll likely fall back to his complementary 6-700 yard role this year. Fringe roster worthy by mid season.

Washington and locker actually do too. Locker is underestimated in fantasy this year. He's prob a borderline top 15 QB by seasons end .
Bowe severely underestimated. 15 tds two years ago and was doing great last year despite no Charles until cassel got hurt.
