Honestly I didn't intend for that to get a rise out of Spurs fans. You really think Bale is a) worth that fee and b) as good or better than Ronaldo at 24?

It was more of "wow Real are really overpaying" not "hey Spurs fans, Bale sucks"

OMG you guys. I cant believe Darron Gibson went to Everton so cheap. I mean, look at all this stuff he had won: 3 PLs, 1CL, 1FAC, 2LCs, 1CWC.

Why so defensive? It's Twitter. The dude didn't have space to list out all the individual awards, goals and assists to show Ronaldo was that much better than Bale at 24.

Real is already selling jerseys with his name on them so it's safe for you to not defend precious Bale at all costs. He's a great player but 90+ is almost double what he's worth right now. It's a ridiculous price.

Do you ever talk about Liverpool, or do you just spend your time obsessing over other clubs?

I would say something about them, but I can't think of the name of single player they've brought in this window.

I talk about soccer and the sport's biggest transfer in history is worth talking about, I thought.

Instead of talking about Liverpool, you could say something about Spurs winning something worth a shit but that hasn't happened in 20+ years. All the gold stars Levy got them in the transfer market tho. That's pretty nice I guess.

^^ OH DANG YOU GOT ME

I didn't run to a big club when I got into the EPL so I guess you got me on the touting of trophies from matches that neither of us saw from ages ago.

I'm gonna go cry myself to sleep now from that cut burn.

Lots of mad up in here overnight.

I think we've all been quite complimentary to Bale and Spurs in general this window. I know I have. A joke or barb at them isn't out of bounds and always gets a reaction, so why not.

Spurs still set for fourth until Arsenal spends and then it's back to Europa...

** Chelsea basically decided to mark it's territory with the Willian thing. "Oh, Spurs you think you can spend money... we don't even need him but fuck off."

For those that get the EPL Extra Time on TWC in the Charlotte area, question...

I saw they moved the Newcastle-WestHam match tomorrow off NBCSN to EPL Extra Time.
The Extra time channels worked fine last week, but the guide doesn't tell you which matches are which.
So if I wanted to record a match, you have no way of telling which channel to record.

I guess i can record channel 1520 and 1521 and set them both for 10:00AM to 12:00PM and hope I'm right (they only showed two games on EPL Extra Time last week).

I think the easiest answer is stop being a Newcastle fan......maybe I'll look into that after Cabaye leaves.

Am I the only one who didn't really think the referee got a lot of important decisions wrong in the Arsenal-Aston Villa match? The only one I can think of that he got wrong was not sending off the Villa player late in the game, but they were already winning at that point. Both of the penalties were correct.

The second penalty call may have been soft, but you put yourself at the mercy of the ref when you go to ground like that in the box with a player seemingly through on goal.

The FA thought he was bad enough to completely drop him from the Prem. Koscielny probably shouldn't have even been handed one yellow let alone being sent off and called for a penalty. Pretty unanimous among sports writers that the ref had a shocker. Arsenal didnt deserve to win with how soft the midfield was but 3-1 was very undeserved.

Anyway, Cabaye rumors. He's meh. Sure if you want to compete with Liverpool or Spurs that'll help but it does nothing to close the gap on the top three. Need a Di Maria in the worst way.

Spurs has done well to get six points. Clearly haven't gelled yet but it's all about not dropping points until that happens.

Have talkSport on XM at work and they just said Real accepted a £26m bid from Arsenal for Di Maria.

I'd love it but don't believe it until he is holding up an Arsenal shirt at the Emirates.

Yeah, actually he would. They don't want to sell him.

Bale's been offered 250k/week last friday so it at least shows that their preference is to keep the player.

What's so hard to understand? If they show up with 100M pounds in a lump sum he goes.

If they dont he stays and signs a new deal.

FWIW I think he goes but, but I know that if DL doesnt get exactly what he wants he wont hesitate to keep him. Just like Modric's last year.

Yeah, of course. But you just said if raising that 100M pounds involves Real selling somebody to Arsenal then Levy will back out. Give me a break.

They're committed to the transfer at this stage, by their spending already and because Bale is nothing to them if they don't sell him. He doesn't hold all the aces because his star player has zero interest of playing for Spurs at this point.

I also just said that if he doesn't get exactly what he wants then he wouldn't hesitate to keep him. I'm sure that includes selling to rivals. Since Levy doesn't have to do a damn thing Real ask he can dictate terms in any way he sees fit.

Joe Lewis is the 9th richest Brit and is worth ~5 billion. They surely aren't fucked if he doesn't go. There's a difference between running a club responsibly and not having money. Bale is potentially worth a title if he stays, so he is worth something to the club.

Quote :

Then why hasn't he submitted a written transfer request? Or made any kind of public statement at all about wanting to leave Spurs? I think he wants to go Madrid, sure, every player in the world does, but that doesn't mean that he's completely opposed to ever putting on a Spurs shirt again.

You're so damn thirsty for Bale to go so you can dance and around and point fingers aimorris. That shit is played out man.

Dude, I couldn't care less if he goes or not. Other than seeing you mad, I don't give a fuck about Spurs. So stop thinking that everything I say regarding the club/Bale transfer is only for your benefit and/or trolling. If you honestly believe Levy has the power to keep Real from selling players and that it would hinder a potential deal, then whatever, that's your opinion. I personally think the jacking off of Levy has gone a bit overboard. Great job in the market but typically when you have a lot of money at your disposal you can buy good players (mention Andy Carroll, please, because that's not predictable).

That's fair. Let me just say that if this was City spending that kind of money (and targeting 30m for Willian and whatever they end up getting Lamela for) without selling their version of Bale, every single person would be up in arms about FFP and mercenaries and all that other bullshit that goes along with it. Funny that it's "running a club responsibly" when its your club doing it.

I've been complimentary of Spurs this window and deservedly so but the Levy/AVB lovefest in the media is really going overboard. They have bought good players not great players (and i love Paulinho -- will be fantastic in time) and a more technical midfield will run circles around their brutes.

Also, with a few pen strokes Arsenal can put them right back to playing on Spursdays next year again.

WTH was Jose thinking with that formation? Playing without a damn striker??

Seems he got too cute and basically outsmarted himself. It will be interesting to see if he takes any heat for that dumbass move. If Benitez runs out that lineup they would have fed him to the wolves.

The one player that united didn't want to see on the team sheet was Lukaku and he let United off the hook in that respect by not getting him in the game. Why he isn't getting run over Torres baffles me.
