clemson is going to emasculate us... that is definitely correct. However, did Thomas really play that badly? I could only watch sparingly because I'm at work, but his statline, outside of no touchdowns, looks pretty solid.

Prob because he didn't think we'd lay an egg for the rest of the game and we were moving the ball. I've seen plenty of games where teams went for that 2 early chasing points and it came back to hurt them. Most coaches take sure points before the 4th quarter especially when moving the ball well enough.

It wasn't a bad call people just being revisionist about it.

after reading through a few threads, a lot of people did give up early. I was in the stands until the end of the game so I didn't see all of this stuff before. I never give up on a game that's less than one score until the end of the entire game, even though this game was super frustrating.

That whole paragraph is dumb. There are very few scenarios at 21-19 where 1 pt helps, that 1 pt is basically worthless, so go for 2.

Actually the only scenario where the 2 pt-conversion is better is the scenario where neither teams score again. That's why you shouldn't chase points until late in the game when there are only a few possessions left. If you don't get it and the other team kicks a field goal then you have to go for 2 again on your next score and are chasing points. If the other team scores a touchdown it makes it a two possession game which changes the game dynamic. If both offenses continue to go back and forth then 2 vs 1 decision is fairly irrelevant anyway.

if they kick a fg the score is 24-20 and now you have to have a touchdown

24-20 ,24-19 Same thing you need a td to win anyway

24-21 means you can still tie it.

this was our 2nd td of the game and it was almost the 4th qtr. it was unrealistic in that game at that point to think there would be more than 1 more touchdown.

Only things I took from this game is that

1. Thomas just isn't a winning QB. He was solid for the most part, but he doesn't make many plays that win games. And that last interception was horrendous. If it wasn't clear before tonight -- this is Mitchell's team when he gets healthy

2. If our DL can play as inspired as they did in the 2nd half the rest of the year, we're going to have a chance in most games. Norman and Teal were unreal at times.

3. Sade. Wow. Thank God you don't suck.

4. That Richmond QB was pretty good. Our DL was knocking the crap out of him in the 2nd half and he kept firing on target. Say what you want about them being an FCS team ... that QB would start for a lot of BCS team.

Look at it this way. If we went for and got the 2 and the game was tied Richmond plays that next to last possession completely different and we probably don't get the ball back because our defense blows. They had the lead so they played conservatively and it gave us a chance to win.

A win is never a bad thing, but I believe all State fans expected a much better performance from our players and coaching staff than what was presented last night.

Sade better have gotten gang-fucked by a bus load of Stately Ladies last night after the game.

A D1 team beating a FCS team by 2 is terrible. The point of playing a FCS team is to collect a easy victory. State sucks. Is it basketball season yet?

All ball handlers should walk around campus with an arm full of eggs all week.. You have to catch the ball before you do anything else with it. It's our #1 problem and its what kept us out of a few games last year
